- In this episode of the Outsiders, Noah takes a solo trip down to the Niagara River to see if he can catch any fish. While the fishing starts out hot, the baitfish start to to move in which makes the fishing a little more difficult. Watch the whole video to see what he is able to catch!
Bro, your videos make me happy! You do such a good job of allowing us to have a close up look on your process. Great work and tight lines!!!!
Thanks Bryant, much love 🙏 tight lines!😎🎣
Nice fishing! I always enjoy the Lower Niagara videos!
Thanks Cray!
tough fishing with all that bait in the river , no skunkin at least
Thanks Bill, no skunkin is right 👍
Those white bass are "suckers" for those float jigs 😂 thanks for the shout out !!! That river looking good 🎣🎣🔥🔥
Oh yes, they are all suckers for the crackhead jigs hehehehe
Hey I forgot to mention I believe all those Bait fish alewives @OutsidersOutdoorCo
Another great vid, would like to know more about your Float set up, specifically line, terminal tackle, weights etc. I know you've shown high level overviews in previous videos, but if you ever did a vid on specifics, I'd watch it!!
Thanks appreciate it! I'll definitely have to make a video about that in the future!
Great video as always. I think that bird may have been a blue heron.
Thanks Frank, and thx for the info😎👍
Awesome video definitely some nice white bass
Thanks Bob, appreciate it😁
New to CP, just curious what set up your running. Enjoyed the video!
I've got a 5.65 shadow drifter with a 13ft blood run skein cane, 21 lb monofilament mainline
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo what are you running for a float / weight? Thanks!
3/4oz aero float, I have a 1/4oz trolling sinker and the rest split shot👍
@@OutsidersOutdoorCothanks dude!
No problem 👍
Those minnows look like Alewife shad. Tough to say for sure though. Nice footage. Silver bass are always fun to catch in the Lower this time of year.
Thanks Chris, one of my favorite fish to catch (and eat hehehe)
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo you and me both. I've caught a large number of them trolling the Hamburg side of Lake Erie (they mix in with walleye in early May). Silver bass hit stick baits like you wouldn't believe lol. I definitely keep a few for the bbq!
The minnows are alewives they been running in giant schools like that by the silo boat lauch and dock for awhile @@OutsidersOutdoorCo
good content .. those white bass are awesome
Thanks Larry, they sure are😎🎣
Great video again just have a quick question what’s the best size hook for float fishing and Also bottom fishing for everything from bass too big salmon just what’s the overall best one too use
Thanks Joe! I like bloodrun bead and bag hooks size 8 and for steelhead and size 2 mosquito hooks for everything else👍
Nice day on the river. White bass follow bait fish like Stripers do in the Atlantic, they are voracious feeders.
Thanks Craig! I did not know that, thanks for the info!
Why wouldn’t smallies be there as well? Smallies are always chasing bait
Any tips using the float setup? I can’t seem to catch anything. I was using 15lb yellow braid as my mainline, but I’m going to switch to 15lb mono. Hopefully I can catch some fish!
I definitely think mono is better because it doesn't absorb any water, so mending you line will be easier and it won't freeze in the winter👍
Mono is typically considered best for float reel setups. You can get hi vis mono
The bait fish are Alewife. They are still there from last of May until now.
The way that sheep head was flopping around, he may have just did that to his head. Great scene though!
Hehehehe, thanks!😎🎣
Any tips on spot I could catch white bass, smallmouth or largemouth bass in the area? I’m not looking for your best spots. But I will be visiting or a day or two on a road trip and want to take a few casts
Also awesome video!
Thanks Chris, you can get on some fish pretty much anywhere from the shore, all state parks along the river and lake have access to the water 👍
The minnows in the river are alewives
You ever catch a gar there before ?
Hooked one, but never landed
Do you like catching white bass with such a long rod?
Oh yea, in that current you'll need the long rod, also allows for better hook sets👍
I fish on Whirlpool every other day. I tried float fishing but no bites. Are you using worm on your hook? And is that Rainbow or lewiston bridge on the background?
Almost nobody fishes the rainbow bridge
I've been to whirlpool once about a week ago, seems to be tough fishing there now(well at least for me lol) I was using minnows as well👍
Can we see more of youre rod and reel combo you are using
Look at our video from 2 weeks ago, got a full rundown after the intro, hope it helps😁👍😎
do you cast it out and leave it for a bit or start winding slowly after u cast....my wife and i are not proffessionel...lols.. can u please say what u r using....do use a bobber... and where you are....i live in niagara falls ont,, canada......thanks ..... a canadian friend
Throw it out with a float and let it sit until you see it go down👍
i will try that....i thought it was a sinker.....thanks alot
Hey what fish would be there like the day after July 4th???
Probably some white bass, smallmouth, and sheepshead
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo what would you throw lure wise? For white ass and drum? And do you still think I’d be able to get on some walleye?
1/4oz jig heads with 3in white swimbaits and if you have float I would use some minnows or crawdads. Same thing for walleye, except dawn and dusk are the best for those guys👍
How long do the whitebass stay in the river?
I've caught them as late as July, but there are lots of bait fish now which might make it tougher to catch them👍
What day was that?
I'm pretty sure it was June 6th👍
Id love to fish there how did you get there niagra gorge state park you at
All of the state parks have access to the water👍
CAST LITTLE CLEO'S CATCH ALL THE WHITE BASS YOU WANT IF THEIR THERE!!
I'LL HAVE TO GIVE THAT A TRY👍
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo WE USED TO CALL THEM SILVER BASS I STILL DO!!
THOSE BAITFISH ARE ARE CALLED SHINERS OR ALWIVES.
GOOD TO KNOW, THANKS 👍
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo GREW UP IN NIAGARA FALLS USED TO SPEAR, FISH, AND NET THE LOWER RIVER. MY DAD USED TO NET THOSE SHINERS WHEN I WAS KID BY THE GARBAGE CAN FULL AND PUT THEM IN HIS GARDEN. WE ALWAYS HAD GREAT VEGETABLES.
