      iRepair Autos hello, I became familiar with your channel because my Mercedes had a lot of problems. I followed your advice and saved money. But, getting rid of my Mercedes saved me a from having headaches.

    Love the attention to detail and pacing of your videos. This explains precisely how to do this repair. If I might offer a suggestion, though; make sure to use contact cleaner before installing the new unit. Clean the housing/port with the spray contact cleaner. Be careful not to damage the pins. And clean out the sand and dirt that builds up around the housing. You want a good seal so that you'll be able to prevent or spot any leaks once the new unit is installed.

    Those O-rings needed some rubber-safe lube upon installation. Similar stuff you use on brake caliber rubbers - maybe Syl-glide or similar.

    • @iRepairAutos
      @iRepairAutos  4 года назад +1

      I guess you're right. Mercedes recommends leaving them alone.

      @@iRepairAutos little bit of clean gear box oil to seed the o rings works fine. Thanks for the tutorial 👍🏻

    Thank you so much, I freaked out a little when I saw some trans fluid mixed with dirt caked on the bottom of the car, thought I may have cracked the housing. I’m gonna get a better look under there and then give this a shot if I need to. Any idea what the part #’s are for the O rings?

    • @iRepairAutos
      @iRepairAutos  4 года назад +1

      Not sure, the whole unit is cheap enough. Mercedes made some changes to the module itself to fit the newer o-rings better so you might want to get the whole thing. Older module may or may not fit the newer o-rings.

    my slk 280 has been in the shop for a month and a half. They are telling me that the seals around the wires going into this unit are leaking and the oil has migrated to the ESP module and shorted it out. Looking at your video it seems to me if the seals were leaking the oil would fall to the ground before it migrated up the wiring harness. Have you ever seen this problem? The shop thinks they need to change the valve body in the transmission and replace the wiring harness at least to the first part of the run. Seems suspicious to me.
    This repair came about because the automatic transmission would not engage in any gear and I was getting a speedtronix error and an ESP error. They replaced the ESP module and that took care of the errors but now they have a low battery light and an error code for the ignition switch. Any advice would be appreciated. Jim

    Hello I know this is off topic but I wanted to get your advice. I have a W220 and I had a local mechanic change out my lower control arms and in the process he said my upper control arm was bad and had to be replaced on the passenger side now my car leans to that side I took it back to them but they were clueless I was thinking it might be my right height sensor arm but I'm no specialist I got an appt tomorrow with mercedes

      I would place them in pairs. Also you have to make sure that the mechanic tightened the bolts with the weight of the car on the suspension. Not on a lift.
      The car leaning to one side seems like a air strut issue.

    ok video a surprised why you did not clean before Assembly the new part

    • @iRepairAutos
      @iRepairAutos  4 года назад +2

      I should have cleaned before I took the old part off. Never clean, while the inside of the transmission is exposed. I'll clean it now that its buttoned up. Good call.
