Missouri May Garden Tour and Harvest, Zone 7a, Resilience Days After a Tornado, More in the Forecast

Welcome back to 6 Hearts on 6 Acres! Today is our May garden tour and harvest, the 2nd of the season! Just 2 days after getting my garden fully planted there was a tornado in the field right beside my garden, thank the Lord it didn't touch down, and my home and garden were unharmed, but we have hail and tornadoes in the forecast again tonight, so I wanted to make sure and get this garden documented now! It is looking absolutely gorgeous, although we are having some pest pressure already! In today's harvest we were able to gather several heads of broccoli, a cauliflower, loads of herbs and salad greens and even some greens to feed the chickens.

You can empty a can or bottle of beer into a shallow dish in the bed with the rolly pollys and it will take care of them. They will crawl in and not come out.

Your garden looks amazing and luscious! I think the bug on the ground cherry is a lady bug larva. I see them in my garden too.

I hear you can get a piece of potato cut in half and put it face down and the roly-poly’s will go to it and then you can remove the potato

I’d love to hear all the varieties you’re growing - might try some you suggest 💚 I’ve sprinkled diatomaceous earth (DE) powder for the pill bugs and flea beetles before and it worked really well. Good luck on your pest control 😊 and hope you get eggplant this year!
