Good stuff. I rig mine the same way except I don't do the channel, so I'll give that a try. I never understood the concept of burying the hook like that in any soft plastic.
Just started strictly using the barb style instead of the screw. This explains rigging it perfectly.

First of all the Tricky head is definitely the best Shakey there is ! Wish it had a power fishing size . I live in Florida and fish lakes full of cover and Hydrilla. I actually rig it the way you said not too ,but I make a channel all the way through and put hook back in the worm ! I get 95 percent hookup ratio ! But I did incorporate your hook setting technique ( pull and reel hard ) My go to set up is the 3/32 oz tricky head with a Fat Green Pumpkin pepper Robo worm ! This rig is catching more fish than a weightless senko !
Randy I have a Question; Do kids in college fishing tournaments 'Represented by their Universities' have to maintain a Grade level to remain on the Team....Kinda like Football?????
I like a type of worm that stands up on a shakey head. I test different ones in a bucket or shallow water to see which ones stand vs lay over.

Fifty years ago I had to learn the hard way. Mine were too heavy and buried in the middle and miss many. Now days with the internet the learning curve is days not years. And far better hooks.
