  • I use buttermilk in many of my recipes from pancakes, cakes and muffins. It's such a versatile ingredient that is sooo easy to make at home. In this example, I use yoghurt along with milk, but you can use lemon juice instead.

      Yogurt has lacto…bacteria in it already which is what makes the milk thicken and curdle , as well as adding that sour tang- basically doing the same thing as lemon

    No butter ? lol

    • @MoversandBakers
      @MoversandBakers  3 года назад +3

      😂 no! Buttermilk is called because it was actually the leftover milk from the butter making process, which then ended up souring and reacting with the bacteria in the air, getting the tangy taste. Nothing to do with butter in the milk, but the process it came to be!
      So now you know 😄

    No lemon or vinegar?

    • @MoversandBakers
      @MoversandBakers  3 года назад +2

      No, this way just uses yoghurt and allows the bacteria in the yoghurt to react with the milk. Just mix and leave to sit for 10-15 mins before use! You can make buttermilk using vinegar/lemon and milk too, but I prefer this way 😊

      @@brittnylaurel you're most welcome! If you want to speed it up, you could even warm it a little (I microwave for 30 seconds or so)
