I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.
As a hobbyist and avid consumer of wood working content on RUclips I have to say you produce some of the best and most relatable content out there! @@3x3CustomTamar I also found it refreshing to see you leave in a mistake I certainly have made many times. If only my finished products came out nearly as clean and refined as this gorgeous piece!
I second the comments about leaving in the mistakes - I’ve also noticed you not only point out mistakes in your videos, but explained what was wrong and how you’d do it differently. I really appreciate that.
Thank you for showing us in detail how you did this! Personally, I most appreciate when folks do talk about what went wrong (especially handling power tools) and how to avoid it and fix things up (short rods). There’s too many guys out there thinking “nah, can’t happen to me” - and eventually, they loose a finger...

Love to see a young lady doing all this woodwork - all I can make with wood at the moment is..... sawdust lol. 6 minutes in we see the state of your fence in the background, hope that's one of your future projects : )
Almost didn't watch this because...nice bench but I don't need one of those. So glad I did watch it. I learn something with every video you make. You are quickly becoming a creative master wood worker and I'm in awe of your skills, both with wood and with communication. So far I've made three of the jigs you have demonstrated - your cross cut sled, your router edge guide, and your dowel jig. All work great and bring me joy. So far I've been a get 'er done wood butcher, an impressionist wood worker, satisfied with giving the impression that my work is finished and hopes nobody looks at the joints and details. Watching you work is definitely upping my game. Thanks so much. BTW, I hate my router for the very reason you point out in this video. I'm trying to get over that. I recognize its versatility and value, but it's so damn hard to get comfortable with it. Just one more way you inspire me.
That’s so awesome to hear. Well I’m glad you chose to watch it and that you gained something from it! Glad to hear the jigs are working out for you! 💪💪
I’m kinda old, so I remember doing big glue-ups with hide glue. We used a hot box to warm the wood, then our foreman would yell at everyone to go faster, because the glue gels so fast when it’s cold in the shop. Talk about panic mode! One tip that we use for plugs (and we make them in many sizes): Put the working piece on edge, and run it through the table saw. That way, the plugs have nice flat bottoms, and no marks from prying them out. Hope that makes sense. Great video. You are wonderfully resourceful, and you have serious chops.
"Pocket holes have a really bad reputation but I like them anyway" - every single woodworker and every commenter on RUclips I've ever seen. Who actually gives them that bad reputation, except everyone that keeps saying they love them regardless?
When I was a kid my parents had magazines, "Gör det själv" (Do it yourself), and this was way before RUclips and/or internet. Nicely done and good save. I once cut $100 of hard maple three inches too short. A bunch of little annoyances will send me into insane conniptions, but after that incident I just shut down the shop for the night and had a beer. I’m still jealous of your pencil holder 😜
Pretty nice watching someone make a not entirely small piece of cool furniture with a limited selection of tools - as a furniture maker apprentice you get used to use specific large machines and kind of forget that smaller and cheaper tools can be used. I'm so used to making templates on a massive behemoth of a bandsaw and perfecting the shape with a rather substantial belt sander - the jigsaw and the small belt sander seem to work just as well - good to have in mind when contemplating a possible future workshop :)
You are incredibly adaptive with your use of jigs and I really like your note to “use what you’ve got”. I’m just getting started in woodworking, and I already feel like I’ve bought half a big box store worth of tools, but don’t have a fraction of what’s needed for some projects. Thanks for showing how versatile the jigsaw and router combo is.
Great looking design. That was a lot of work. Came out looking great. Liked the pencil holder mod ('hairtennas'). I'm glad the last time I launched something off my router table, my miter saw was up and stopped a goal...through my garage window. Thanks again for the cool build!

Really nice project, Tamar. One thing some of the complainers forget (or perhaps don't know) about pocket holes, is that the unsightly pockets can be plugged. If done right, they _almost_ disappear, especially in a painted project.

Seriously love the Rubio Monaco finish on white oak - Bourbon Moth Woodworking always uses it - love it. Now just have to think if something I can make out of white oak lol - no room for a bench!
Also my fave build since the plywood cart. Which was my first project. I must have missed the point when you fancied up your studio with a new backdrop! Great job, also from Cali, but north. We send our water to KM!
You’re very creative, and do really nice work! I retired at the end of last year and have been dabbling in woodworking again. I enjoy watching these types of videos. I may not make that same project, but I try to take ideas from each project. I really like your approach of doing test pieces and I admire your ability to think through the steps in advance.
I think pocket holes are great for entry wood workers that just want to see their creation complete and functional. People like yourself do a great job of showing options and educating. :)
Totally agree. I don’t think I would be here without pocket holes. They really helped me in the beginning. But they just shouldn’t be used for everything.
I rewatched the video with my OCD at ease, enjoyed it how it was meant to be enjoyed. Really dope storage bench, it's amazing how far you've come. I can tell you found the work that you love.
I really love how you make it work even when a goof happens and you disclose the goof.. I'm also happy someone else goofs up sometimes besides myself ! Great project and nice job ! I'm a fan of templates. I will say that I bought a used(super clean) 14" bandsaw on CL for about 1/2 pr. and it's been great, my jigsaw gets a break and I love the bandsaw, and it does not take much of a floor space footprint. I highly recommend one. And, finally, I like that bench !
So perfect ❤️ your are getting better and better, i think that no project can stop you to make something great . Thanks for the video all your fans we are very proud for you .👍👍👍👍
Your planning and designs are different (better) than most of the other woodworking videos that I watch -- which are legion. Do you have a background in design, engineering, or architecture? Your attention to detail is amazing and inspiring. Keep up the great work!
I'm actually happy to know you make the same kind of mistakes as me... I sometimes really get angry with the mistakes I make and wonder what's wrong with me. But seeing you making mistakes too, makes me be a bit more friendly towards myself... And I also freak out when I glue up a project and yes, my phone always rings during those moments 😜 Basically, what I'm trying to say is: thank you, for making me feel normal and for teaching me things ❤️
And btw, most of the time, when I make a mistake, the way I fix it, usually makes the project more interesting and even better than I originally meant it to be 😉
Are you kidding me?? This is awesome! Design, construction, finished build, and the amount of informative stuff in the video. You should be super proud of this build! Also I dig your custom pencil holder, I wish I had one.
Thanks so much!!! Really appreciate that! The custom pencil holder causes some issues. I tend to forget they are there and come in the house when I’m done working. Which means all my pencils end up leaving the shop.... I think I need to redesign it
Really nice bench and build. Your videography, story telling and personality really engage the viewers as evidenced by the number of subscribers. Thanks as always.
Thank you very much! That's so awesome to hear! I spend a lot of time working on the projects and the videos, so it's really great to hear such positive feedback
Beautiful bench Tamar! I cheering you on during that glue up, then almost unsubscribed when the pocket holes came out. Glade I stuck around though, your really getting the hang of those lid stays!
I really like your videos you explain how you are doing everything and the possible mistakes that everyone could make in the process and also we can see if you got wrong in something, you're awesome and authentic
I just watched a video by Sam from DIY Huntress where she also built an entryway bench. You both came up with great designs, both of which used tubular metal for the bottom shelf, (which I like). I like the added storage under the seat that your bench has, it gives it extra functionality.
@@3x3CustomTamar I missed your mentioning of Sam's project, that must have been when my dog barked at something and it averted my attention. It happens a lot with the little guy, but I re-watched it and heard you mention her.
Beautiful work! I think we have all subtracted when we should have added and vice-a-versa! Also really appreciate that you show mistakes and how you dealt with them. Everyone makes mistakes, it's how we deal with them that demonstrates our character.
Thanks! Oh for sure. That wasn’t the first time I’ve done that.... ha! I have yet to build a project with zero mistakes. It’s all just in how you deal with them

Great bench, Tamar. I like your concept and build. Now I have to watch Sam's build and Brandon's. You and your family stay safe and well. Bill
Thanks!! Have fun watching them!
Seriously love the Rubio Monaco finish on white oak - Bourbon Moth Woodworking always uses it - love it. Now just have to think if something I can make out of white oak lol - no room for a bench!
It’s good stuff!
That is a beautiful bench. I like how you include brass into your designs. Adds character to the project.
Thanks so much!
You are very handy. Methodically, trouble solving is very effective. Love to watch your videos.
So awesome to hear. Thanks! ☺️
Great build and instructions with potential problems to look out for - as usual. Thank you. I like how you use a jigsaw and flush bit.
Thanks so much! So glad you found it informative! 🤘
Being excited is the reason why we forget measuring details. finding a solution to every problem is the feeling of glory . Great work
Thanks!!
That’s a sick build. Lots to be learned from this vid. The processes the planning ahead. Making adjustments on the fly. Design ideas. Excellent video
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
Also my fave build since the plywood cart. Which was my first project. I must have missed the point when you fancied up your studio with a new backdrop!
Great job, also from Cali, but north. We send our water to KM!
Thanks so much!
Exactly what I am looking for. Need a bed bench and this is a perfect plan.
Thanks so much! Yeah! I don’t expect everyone to copy this build, the idea is to get ideas from it and create your own!
Smart looking indeed! Inspiring to not just build something that 'works' but something that looks great too!
Thanks so much! So fun to figure out
Dude that is a FANTASTIC Bench!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love your overall problem solving. Great video!!
Thanks so much!
Your method of explaining things is the best.... amazing work and presentation
So awesome to hear!
Haha glad your OCD was eased 😂
wow,, it's amazing, your knowledge is very help me for woodworking, nice to see u. i'm Indonesian woodworker
Hi, little mistakes don't define us like bad workers, it's so many details. Congratulations and best regards, from Brazil.
I love the brass accents. They really class up the shelf and the bench.
Thanks so much! I love adding brass. It’s so cool
We all make goofs. Ha. Thanks! Yeah. I have to pick one up...
So perfect ❤️ your are getting better and better, i think that no project can stop you to make something great . Thanks for the video all your fans we are very proud for you .👍👍👍👍
Thanks so much! So glad you like it!
Your planning and designs are different (better) than most of the other woodworking videos that I watch -- which are legion. Do you have a background in design, engineering, or architecture? Your attention to detail is amazing and inspiring. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! I don’t. My background is in media... ha
I can’t believe that cordless jigsaw cut through that would! Impressive!
Yeah. It’s pretty powerful. But a TON of work
Am learning so much from your channel -- and thanks in particular for sharing your mistakes and then your no-drama solutions. Brilliant!
So awesome to hear
I'm actually happy to know you make the same kind of mistakes as me... I sometimes really get angry with the mistakes I make and wonder what's wrong with me. But seeing you making mistakes too, makes me be a bit more friendly towards myself... And I also freak out when I glue up a project and yes, my phone always rings during those moments 😜 Basically, what I'm trying to say is: thank you, for making me feel normal and for teaching me things ❤️
Haha! Glad to be of service! I’ve yet to make a project without mistakes. It’s all in how you deal with them
@@3x3CustomTamar That is very true! I try to deal with me more kindly 😉
And btw, most of the time, when I make a mistake, the way I fix it, usually makes the project more interesting and even better than I originally meant it to be 😉
Lazarus aap ha! Not a mistake! A design feature 😂
This is a great video Tamar. Your problem solving was on point!
Thanks so much! Always fun to figure out
Original challenge piece was pretty nice. I like how yours turned out as well. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much!
Beautiful bench Tamar! I really like the look of the routed out handle. John Jensen from British Columbia
Tamar, thank you again for another informative and entertaining video. It’s time we’ll spent watching you build a project. Best wishes from Texas.
Glad you liked it!
Hi, my name's Edmilson and I'm from Brazil. Your projects are amazing. Thanks for sharing
What's your name again?
Hi Tamar! Special project and special tecniques! Amazing!!! Congratulations!!! Greetings from Brazil!!!
Thank you so much!
I think I need to redesign it
small details you provided with each step are really helpful
Awesome. Glad you thought so
This was a really smart way to do this rounded corner. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Hahah! Pocket holes aren’t evil! 😂😂
I really like your videos you explain how you are doing everything and the possible mistakes that everyone could make in the process and also we can see if you got wrong in something, you're awesome and authentic
So awesome to hear! So glad you like it!
I just watched a video by Sam from DIY Huntress where she also built an entryway bench. You both came up with great designs, both of which used tubular metal for the bottom shelf, (which I like). I like the added storage under the seat that your bench has, it gives it extra functionality.
Yeah! Sam is awesome! I mentioned her project in this video 😉 it was a fun coincidence that we were making similar projects at the same time
@@3x3CustomTamar I missed your mentioning of Sam's project, that must have been when my dog barked at something and it averted my attention. It happens a lot with the little guy, but I re-watched it and heard you mention her.
Nice imaginative work and good quality craftmanship. You deserve praise
Thanks!
you are a grand master of wood working
Beautiful work! I think we have all subtracted when we should have added and vice-a-versa! Also really appreciate that you show mistakes and how you dealt with them. Everyone makes mistakes, it's how we deal with them that demonstrates our character.
Thanks! Oh for sure. That wasn’t the first time I’ve done that.... ha! I have yet to build a project with zero mistakes. It’s all just in how you deal with them
Thanks for showing your mistakes and how you fix them! I really appreciate it since we all make mistakes and we need to know that you can fix it! Your work is amazing!
Glad you like my mistakes. Ha
