I am a 62 year old woman who started making my own furniture. I been giving away all my partical board furniture. It's a joy watching you. I'm inspired. This is beautiful.
This has to be one the best builds I've seen on RUclips, and I've been following woodworking channels for many years now. You achieved an amazing balance between sophisticated simplicity and good taste. Good job!
Awsome! ❤ This remind me of the the Radionette cabinet our family had in the 60's. Speakers and radio in the middle, and on one side a record-player, and a old-fashioned band-player on the other side, both on a bottom you could slide out for easy access. We, the kids, used to lay on the floor every Saturday at 5 PM, and listen to the radioprogram for kids that lasted one hour. (While eating our allowed snacks and soda) The age of innocence! *sigh*
Tres tres jolie réalisation je suis toujours admiratif de votre travail notamment sur les portes coulissantes, j ai realise un ensemble de 2 plateaux avec ce type de bois. Encore bravo et merci pour toutes ces videos
Tip: Try using a pad on your orbital sander and stick a green scrub pad from the sink to take off the extra glue. It won't eat into the wood and leves a soft finish that you stain or lacquer will love to stick to.
I was trying to explain to a friend how hand made furniture is literally art, no different than carving marble or painting. I'm going to be showing them this video.
*TopFineWoodworking. Com* is an amazing book about wood working. I took several classes and completed a one year diploma in carpentry at a local tech college; this is better than any book I worked out of during those courses. It includes useful photos and goes over almost everything.
My dad recently started experimenting with hand making. He’s been a cabinet builder for homes for years. But as he’s older. He just wants to take his time now. He’s reaching his 70s and he’s made some crazy ass pieces. Things he has wanted to try since he began wood work. He couldn’t due to job deadlines. Now he’s older he has time to relax. He clearly did his homework. I’m thinking about making my own furniture for my house as well. But indeed it’s an art.
well the handheld CNC has enabled him. pre CNC yeah then you had to really be a "carver" and few could do it well, except in Japan, the wood working there is at a whole diff level.
24:20 I'm always thankful when I can learn a new (to me) little trick. Using a straw for the glue squeeze out is one of those neat little tricks I'll add to my productivity drawer.
This is stunning! It’s a beautiful deco design that looks like a custom build for a high-end, upscale space. I could see this in Architectural Digest as a centerpiece. Great job!
Mate your work is a MASTER class in my book. 60 years ago as a young student my homework was done at my Grandfathers roll top desk set up in the kitchen so my Grandmother could keep an eye on me. My Grandfather built that desk and the Tambour had the same look only it was made with a layer of used matches from his pipe. To tell the truth I may have had a tear or two in both eyes as fine craftsmanship brought back a flood of great memories. Thank you for showing your love of wood and the skill to create Art from it, well done sir. Tony Australia
This is the first video of yours that i've watched and i'm very impressed with your patience and how meticulous you are with the build. Great video and I look forward to more!!
Every puppy in the world should have a custom 'bed' made especially for him/her. They, I am sure, will let us sit on their 'bed' too if we keep our promise to rub their tummies! You are a lucky doggy, Winston!
Man, everything about this was absolutely amazing! I've had an idea for a TV stand that will probably require a lot of the same techniques required for your project but I have no experience with any of these things. This was an amazing opportunity to learn and see how someone else dealt with similar challenges, thank you. Also, I forgot while watching that this was supposed to be a bench because I kept thinking about how I could apply those techniques to my own project, so it came to mind that where you put the cabinets would be a great place to have built-in speakers covered with nice fabric to match the design
This is the perfect example of when function, form and artistry collide pure magic appears. Simply stunning piece!! Thankyou for sharing your amazing skill. 😊
that straw trick is like decades old , here is one that is even more than a century old but still super useful when you try to glue wood you often have the problem that one piece moves when you try to clamp it to prevent this after you apply the glue throw a pinch of salt on the glue before adding the second piece it will stay aligned and wont budge when you clamp it
Michael! You are an amazing artist and craftsman. This bench is a beautiful conception and remarkably well crafted. This kind of furniture is coveted by people like myself who appreciate, danish modern, and mid century modern furniture crafted by masters like yourself. I hope that you are selling these pieces and being well compensated. You are very gifted! I also love your shop dog, Winston😎.
I'm in love with this piece, I've just found your channel and I've binged a tone of your vids over a couple of days. I'm a carpenter by trade and woodwork is my passion, you've inspired me to get busy in my home workshop again and create something beautiful. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
An truly outstanding design and build. Very art deco vibe to it, and the craftsmanship you put in will make this an antique of the future. Incredible stuff, and I'm totally hooked on your channel now!
This almost brought me to tears ! This is sooo beautiful, this as been made with such attention to details ! This is a wanderful piece of art ! I am in aww ! Waw !! Thank you so much for sharing the whole process ! This is soo inspiring
The 60's are back! Yesterday we throw out benches, that looks like that, today we build it with much skill and motivation. A masterpiece. Thanks for your work and information arround this project! :)
Impressive piece. Love the wood colors, dark and light, but similar tone to me. Winston looks super happy. He looks very obedient because he is tracking your faces the whole time. My baby doggy is getting there.
That dog tail wiggle means its dog aproved! Amazing stuff i do have a garage i am looking forward to make some furniture for myself and family and you give me inspiration.
I work in the luxury motor yacht industry, mainly on the unit design side of things though I’m familiar with the construction and carpentry side as well. We tend to use a lot of heavily automated shaping such as giant 10ft+ CNC machines, hardwood sectioners etc so it’s very awesome to see a lot of what we do done more the “traditional” way and by hand. Awesome work and you should be very proud of what you accomplish 😊 P.s. when we do exposed screws we use the “cup and screw” method, makes them look more snazzy!
Your a true craftsman. Love seeing the passion in your work. Winston loves his new pet bed, he's keeping it.😁 jk. Your the Bob Ross of woodworking, your videos are relaxing to watch, listen and zen out too and enjoy. You have the perfect voice tone and level and the music all blends nicely👍
:D This is so cool. Mirka is based in my home village in western Finland. I've worked there a few summers while in school. The employees at the factory are really content, and they have a really good reputation as a employer. Do support them!
It'd be pretty cool to put a TV on it and old school wood grain tower speakers on top of the cabinets on the side! record player and amp in the center behind the sliding doors. Really cool build!
Weirdly, I think this was the first video of yours that I watched after binging Japanese furniture making videos. I had thought I'd saved the video back then on my "someday house" playlist. I just went to show the piece to someone recently and couldn't find it because I DIDN'T SAVE IT! The freakish creepy RUclips algorithm just deposited it back into my home page again though and I realized it's YOU... I entirely missed the patterned ply the first time... so I guess YT really does continue to send things to viewers. It's all making sense now. Still one of my all time favourites, but this time my takeaway was that the box and straw picking up glue are two of the best hacks I've seen.
WOOOOW! Absolutely awesome and super impressive build. I love this curvy craftsmanship! Did I say WOOOOW! Of course I did. Talk about an endless conversation piece. WOOOOW!
Dear Lord. This has to be the most STUNNING piece of woodworking I've seen. What a treat to watch! I wish my stepfather were still alive so that I could send this to him. Unreal. 👌
What a masterpiece! So polished. I'm even more impressed about how it ended up serendipitously sharing the overall shape with Laura's record player cabinet ruclips.net/video/Zhfn9LWoI2w/видео.html You guys should definitely build something together. Cheers!
Thanks!! Yeah, Laura’s the best! She actually gave me the idea for the tambour, and it’s really cool how her record can took on the same form as my bench. I’d bet we do a build together at some point 😉
Wow! If I was commissioned to built this beautiful custom work of art I would charge no less than $5,000! The skill, creativity, time, quality craftsmanship ... well worth it.

This might be my single favorite video in all of the maker space here on RUclips! Can’t wait to try something similar. Thinking it would make a great desk!
i been watching these type of videos on YT for years and this is far and away the most impressive piece I've seen. You're a true craftsman and put other "makers" to shame. I hope you got paid out the ass for this
Beautiful work! I really enjoyed watching you building this piece. fantastic work ! side note, I had a dog named Winston when I was younger, sadly he passed few years ago.
Single-handedly one of the most well thought out pieces of furniture I've seen on YT so far

@Joe Costner if something is beautiful it can no longer be useless
well the handheld CNC has enabled him. pre CNC yeah then you had to really be a "carver" and few could do it well, except in Japan, the wood working there is at a whole diff level.
@@jamesmccaul2945 A bit pretentious sounding. If art is in the eye of the beholder, then the moment someone thinks of this as art, its art.
24:20 I'm always thankful when I can learn a new (to me) little trick. Using a straw for the glue squeeze out is one of those neat little tricks I'll add to my productivity drawer.
I’ll say it again... seeing this pieces makes me wish I came up with the design. Scale and balance is on point. Looks beyond amazing, Mike.
Thanks dude 🙌
Man, you got skillz and you're not shy to work with your hands. You'll go places. Nice craftsmanship.
This is stunning! It’s a beautiful deco design that looks like a custom build for a high-end, upscale space. I could see this in Architectural Digest as a centerpiece. Great job!
Thank you!! I grew up with AD in my house, maybe something rubbed off

this was literally insane to watch! Easily would take me 9 billion years to imitate. Well done
All the comments are spot on, best wood working build I have watched on RUclips. Nice work!👏
I can actually visualize this being on Antiques Roadshow in a hundred or so years as a masterpiece valued at some astonishing value.
Lee and Leslie saying in 2121 market the value would be 2 trillion dollars. Just stunning.

Well said and " yea, you right!"
This is without a doubt the single most beautiful piece of furniture I will ever see built on youtube. How can I be your friend.
I can’t even form actual words in a coherent sentence that describe how I feel about this build... seriously stunning, my dude. 🙌🏼
Just caught up with your Tambour making.....great job, mid-century design, ....and your dog says it all
everything about this is just AMAZING! wow.
Thanks Mike!!!
Super making 👍👍👍
I'm following both you guys... 😊😊❤️❤️
That's the kind of furniture someone puts in their house and makes every other piece look out of place and shabby. Fantastic job.
24:15 picking up excess glue with a straw, genius!
Yes, that trick is going into the repertoire!
Ikr?! I was like :0
HELL YES! Stealing that one haha
that straw trick is like decades old , here is one that is even more than a century old but still super useful
when you try to glue wood you often have the problem that one piece moves when you try to clamp it
to prevent this after you apply the glue throw a pinch of salt on the glue before adding the second piece
it will stay aligned and wont budge when you clamp it
Just his excuse to get McNuggets on a Wednesday 😂
I am an architect/builder, you inspire me to design and build furnitures for my projects, thank you.
What a great build! Your furniture designing is amazing and I love your precision and non-compromising attention to details.

Anyone would be proud and privileged to have this cabinet to adorn their homes. Thank-you for showing how it was made.
Beautiful design and execution! I love the look of the diagonal plywood. Hope you got a good reward for your efforts.
Stunning. Absolutely in awe. And what a beautiful model to show it off at the end. Winston is very cute.
The most beautiful build ive ever seen on youtube. I want to to try this out some day when i have the proper tools.
That precise manual measurement is beyond everything on this planet. WOW.
An truly outstanding design and build. Very art deco vibe to it, and the craftsmanship you put in will make this an antique of the future. Incredible stuff, and I'm totally hooked on your channel now!
I have a beautiful teak sideboard. with Tambour doors... getting up the nerve to refinish it. Thanks for sharing.
Has a nice Deco feel to it, really love it.
What?!?!?! Crazy talented! Absolutely stunning! Forget about the finished product; just watching you work is an amazing, beautiful show.
What a stunning piece, and really admirable thought process and design work. Just brilliant!
Omg. Stunning. Gorgeous. Awesome. Wow just beautiful. And Winston so cute.🐾🐾🐾🐾
This almost brought me to tears ! This is sooo beautiful, this as been made with such attention to details ! This is a wanderful piece of art ! I am in aww ! Waw !! Thank you so much for sharing the whole process ! This is soo inspiring
Wow awesome that the client who bought this beautiful bench have the video of how it was made.
this may be my favorite thing I've seen you make. That thing looks so good. Great work, man!
The 60's are back! Yesterday we throw out benches, that looks like that, today we build it with much skill and motivation. A masterpiece. Thanks for your work and information arround this project! :)
This is beautiful Michael! Loved the straw technique of removing glue squeeze out and the “simplicity” 🙄 of the legs! Great piece of art
i'm stunned, this is such a beautiful art piece.
Impressive piece. Love the wood colors, dark and light, but similar tone to me. Winston looks super happy. He looks very obedient because he is tracking your faces the whole time. My baby doggy is getting there.
Absolutely wonderful dude. Going to attempt a variant of this, one day.
That dog tail wiggle means its dog aproved! Amazing stuff i do have a garage i am looking forward to make some furniture for myself and family and you give me inspiration.
Looks like an amazing Art Decò furniture piece. Love it.

Gorgeous 300! Closest Benz ever got to making a Volvo! :D
Shoutout to Winston from the uk! Your human is epic and has got me watching his videos consecutively!
Absolutely beautiful, truly a piece of art! Well done!
Such an incredible design and execution bud! I learned so much! Hey Winston!
This is absolutely gorgeous. It's got mid-century Polynesian vibes and it's just stunning.
beautiful !!!! great work , love the design ;)
Beautifully done. Great inspiration for a cabinet I plan to make. Of course, Winston always wins in the end. Enjoy doggy.
Amazing build man! Love the intricacies in pieces like this. Takes them to another level.
:D This is so cool. Mirka is based in my home village in western Finland. I've worked there a few summers while in school. The employees at the factory are really content, and they have a really good reputation as a employer. Do support them!
Alright, let's get this out onto a tray. Nice.
This is 100% proof that with a little imagination and work you can create anything from anything. Awesome! Love Winston!
Question... what do you do after you’ve made the perfect piece? Cause, well damn... that piece is perfection.
Thank you!! Take a short breather, and then get back to work 😉
I watch this at least once a month. One of my favorite videos I have ever seen. A true masterclass.
From the tumbnail I thought that is some cabinet from the 60's to store the tv, the turntable, some vinyls, speakers...
Definitely a retro vibe!
It'd be pretty cool to put a TV on it and old school wood grain tower speakers on top of the cabinets on the side! record player and amp in the center behind the sliding doors. Really cool build!
Winston - finally some peace and quiet here, so I can sleep.

Wow! If I was commissioned to built this beautiful custom work of art I would charge no less than $5,000! The skill, creativity, time, quality craftsmanship ... well worth it.
Yeah, I was wondering how much you’d pay for a solid piece of design in shops.
A lot, and it’d be worth it.
It probably wasn't intentional but it looks inspired by mid-century modern furniture and it looks AMAZING! Great craftsmanship!
This is beautiful. I am just starting out and this is a level I can look forward to doing one day. And I'll be honest, Winston stole the show.
This is one of the most brilliant pieces of furniture I've ever seen. Truly gorgeous.
What a beautiful piece. This video really made me want to jump into a wood working project and forget about the rest of the world.
That is one piece of work! And that pup is the crowning glory!
This is hands down, one of the most beautiful pieces of furniture that I’ve ever seen. You are so talented.
Great piece of craftsmanship Michael. Winston's so cute.
Amazing craftsmanship, pure artistry... all these detailing and artwork for the the dog to sit on at the end😄
Incredible amount of work for Winston's new dog bed with bone storage compartments!
Michael - Hi !
I got here from the Murphy-Bed Build vid, and commented there, too.
I ALSO plan on doing something like THIS to the room I have my main Sound system in ;=) !
I now _plan_ to also use *THIS* Vid as my approach-guide to accomplishing this.
I look forward to forwarding you *(* some time later this year *)* ~3 pics - a couple of progress pics , with a "reveal" pic of the result - of THIS one, too , just for your enjoyment,
so again -
"stay tuned" ;=) !

Insane build! So glad that RUclips exists so you can show us how much went into this.
This is why some furniture is so expensive! It’s amazing! I’m obsessed I need this for my home.
Seriously one of the most pristine and beautiful works of art I have seen
Wow, just...wow! I got both amazed and tired of the amount of work, craft and detail you went into making this beautiful piece💗
You are absolutely AMAZING! My husband is going to love watching your videos!!
Outstanding craftsmanship and creativity! Amazed at your vision for creating this project, absolutely amazed and the complexity involved! Thanks for posting, as always the best video!
I love how maticulous you made this. Elagant and one of a kind. The client surely was estatic.
Omg. Absolutelly beautifull. No words to define. Congratulations from Brazil Michael!!
A suggestion to be able to service the tambour itself, would be to run your groove out the back towards the middle of the cabinet so you can feed the tambour in or out after the cabinet is built. The curved surfaces, we use to leave the relief cuts on the outside of the curve, and then fill them with wood strips, not the inside, then put veneer on the outside of the bends. We use to make tambours and cabinets, but we used Formica laminated parts.
32 minutes of pure attention grabbing inspiration. Fantastic build. Thank you.
And a shout out to Winston 😊
I didn't know what was the magic trick behind the tambour to make the wood look that smooth, this is so cool
I really enjoyed watching you building this piece. fantastic work ! side note, I had a dog named Winston when I was younger, sadly he passed few years ago.
