  • I had a really fun live painting session for my newest class Abstracts Made Simple and wanted to share with you a quick lesson that I created for the class! We used our watercolor paints to paint some beautiful abstract pieces and because we use so much water in this process, you may notice your piece start to warp and bend when it dries! Here is my trick for flattening your watercolor paper after painting. I hope this helps!

    Great trick that i have seen in many videos. One extra tip: for larger paper leave it more than overnight. Also if it feel kinda damp, even a little when you check on it, leave it longer. There is no problem leaving it for a few days.

    if you're not in a rush, just pressing the paper long enough would work
    but you could spray and iron and press if you need to send it next morning

    It's good tip. Thank you, I just used heavy books without wetting paper and that was not that enough. I'll try your method. ❤️

    Great video! Thank you so much. Was your painting sealed on the front painted side before you misted the back to flatten it?

    Thanks much, Nicki! This is a great tip. I had been just using heavy books to no avail, but plan on using this process going forward. :)

    Hi, Nicki! Thanks for the tip! I have a question: should I follow the same process even if my painting is in watercolor and pastel? Thank you!

    What was the clean jar of water at 1m22sec used for?

    Take care acidity etc doesn't leach out of the boards into the back of your painting. To be safe, best put a sheet of acid free -blotting paper between the painting and the board.

    Will this still work if you use other mediums ontop? Like colored pencils, alcohol markers and paint markers?

    • @lifeidesign
      @lifeidesign  7 дней назад +1

      yes, it just needs a little water on the backside, some weight and a bit of time :)
