Thank you so much for this! You have transformed my art and webtoon comic! I'm so excited for the next episodes to come! The shading looks crisp! Not choppy at all like the first episodes. I look forward to more of your videos!
ah, this is just me trying to politely critique and add on to your explanation! refer to editing layer means basically that it's only referring to the layer that you're on. if you use refer to other layers, it'll take note of all layers so it won't color the whole canvas due to empty layer. if you use a tiny 1 pixel brush, it probably might not pick it up that well but just fix the paint bucket settings to the best of your abilities. the tutorial is really nice but the execution of explaining made me a bit confused since i understand things that are more simple :'). lock transparent pixels makes it so that you only draw on the pixels you drew in the layer, meaning that it will not color places you didn't draw on. this video addresses unique tools and abilities such as draft and brush for missing spots. really cool! he also addresses different short cuts to make your life easier instead of just having everything difficult. another short cut would be pressing shift while using the lasso or wand tool. it will basically do what the button did by making it so that you can select other things at the same time. if you want to deselect something but not everything, press alt and select what you want to deselect. there are more short cuts you can check out if you want. the tutorial does explain a lot that will help you! make sure to pay attention.
Hands down best tutorial thingy I've ever seen, I'm new to the program and this is so god damn helpful. I want to go buy every single web comic you've ever made just to give back for this gold dust of a video
thank you so much got the program like 2 years ago and didnt know what the heck i was doing. So i put it away and i was like nah im good. i Jusst recently this year started to use it again . And again i had no idea what i was doing so i looked up how to draw on clip studio paint. Then this video popped up and now i feel like i can draw with this program so much better thank you so much!
I have the attention span of a two year old when it comes to the how-to's of digital drawing so I'm really happy someone i actually like to watch went over things in clip studio allowing me to learn what the pretty buttons on the side do lol. While I don't mess with cell shading (just because it looks bad when I do) the things you went over really help and will be sure to use on future drawings I do. Okey doki that was my baby paragraph, thank you for teaching me something new :D.
Just picked up CSP and am starting to work towards making my own comic - or at least art right now - and this tutorial was SUPER helpful! And also really funny/ engaging! Thanks so much and keep up the great work! Will def go give Neffie a read too!
@@bell3409 Didn't get to make too much art this past year - though did make a few incredible monster designs. Instead I ended up enrolling in an Art Bootcamp to focus on strengthening my skills! ^_^ ALSO, been doing a ton of research into mythologies and outlining stuff for that eventual comic/ light novel series. Now just aiming to finish up a few current projects before beginning in full this coming year and getting at least a full rough draft of the intro/ prequel/ primer story! (As well as some character designs) *fingers crossed* Thanks for asking/ showing interest and I hope this past year has been kind to you as well and you have incredible opportunities in the year ahead dude!!!
@@insightfulpanda4709 Best of luck to you! Keep doing what you’re doing, focus on your work, I’m sure it’ll all turn out amazing, can’t wait to see it out there one day!
I really needed this. Been trying to streamline a process to do simple, yet detailed art for animating and sketching. Also, this helps so much with figuring with Dong Chang's OpenToonz tutorial. thank you so much.
I have used clip studio once (spent 7 hours on a bust of a friend lol), but I did try to learn layers doing it. so while I will probably have to go back and revisit your tutorial several times trying to do this type of drawing, it is extremely helpful even with my basic knowledge
This is the most helpful thing I've seen by far as a beginner. Thank you so much! I'm 4 minutes in and my mouth has dropped open because I'm soo new at this and I was CERTAIN there were ways to do this, but just couldn't figure out how. Thank you so so much!!!
Useful tutorial! I prefer cel-shaded for my anime because they just look overdone painted. A tip for replacing the red / green lines would be preserve pixels > fill (the entire layer) with the color of choice. I personally follow a more realistic method where the edges of shading (core shadow) is darker than the shading itself. But you probably know all this already!
I've been digitally coloring all wrong this whole entire time! This video is so helpful. I do have a question though, do you determine your base color for the skin and hair first? Or the shading and highlight colors first?
This is just how I do it but dirst you decide on a palette for your character, then you can make a ref for them. From there you can eyedrop the colours to keep consistancy
Man this helped a lot, shading this way is super accurate and easier, also the overlay thingy helps a lot since i had 0 idea how to do that lol. Thanks for the video!
The method didn't really stick for me but you taught me about the Lock Transparent pixel tool which I never tried before and I can already tell this is going to make my life much easier so thank you for that!
Thanks! This was a very usefull video! I thought I knew enough about Clip Studio for my drawings, but I actually learned new things haha :D For me it was very easy to understand and your work looks cool. Also, I had a lot of fun watching and listening to your commentary xD
Yeah. I think I need to start with the very, VERY, basics of this app in order to understand CSing, setting up comic panels and being able to draw/sketch in each panel cause all I’m able to do is basic illustrations😅
Didn’t see the views/sub count before I finished the video. I thought you were a big channel based on the quality of this video. Subbing and wishing you the best of luck with the channel, you deserve it!
Very informative! Although I'm a pretty old hand at CSP, I never really understood the Draft Layer setting. It will be very helpful to my Vector Inking workflow. Thanks!
You know, although I don't really like Neffie (the manga not the character) because it seems extremely rushed, the quality of Inverse Catalyst and Hills Surrounded make them seem like they come from a place of true talent and potential, so I'm really excited to see what Neffie might turn into once you get more experience with writing and drawing on a deadline uwu
Please ... do another video and make it longer and please explain ( layers + layer mask ) basically explain how to color from Zero I loved your video thanks
No offense but this seems like an insane amount of steps. In Photoshop I could take an image with flat colors, make a bunch of selections with the marquee tool, smooth the selection, and click "Darken" or "Lighten" and be done.
So im half asleep listening and i was like this guy draws like Skittles. I keep watching huh this guy also sounds like him. *takes drink... Sudden realizes and spits out water* it is him
Probably a dumb question, but when you're doing the highlights (like around the 9:13 mark) and you're painting in the tiny unfilled areas, how is that not going onto the background behind it? Is it locked somehow? Thank you for this video!!
How do you make the pen stay within the lines? I'll never understand why people create long, in-depth videos but skip the only information that's not obvious.
Was the lasso fill tool something you have to download? I just got CSP and I don't think it has this option. I think you have to download it off their website.
It is built into the default program. Use the lasso tool to make your selection. Then a gray box with several icons will appear under your selection. One of them will be a tool to fill in the selection
@@Artfinitii I have that grey box and the paint bucket tool, but when I select it, it fills the entire lasso area and not just the closed areas with pen. Do I not have the right settings selected?
