That night, the stars on the podium and in the skies aligned, and all of this happened.
The first song "Dark Chest of Wonders" is the GOAT of all Concert Openers.

And on August 3,2013 the Nightwish Wacken open Air concert was just that, everything came together as it should be, to make it a perfect magical performance.
The audiance, the high expectations from the big fanbase to hear Floor for the first time with nightwish, her taking the audiance in the palm of her hand from the first Song on, the Summer night time, the weather, the pyro, the lighteffects , the stage, the band as a whole, every performer on his/her own very high level, the sound mixing, the setlist.... it was a one in a lifetime moment.
@@joekel55 I agree with you in every word. I was there and that was for me the beginning of the end of my grief from the lost of Tarja. From that day on Floor grows to me as the one and only Nightwish Singer I can accept. Love Tarja and her Work with Nightwish but that was a complete another time and era. With Anette I could live but it was not the magic I was used from the Band. Floor brought all this back and put it to the next level and chapter.
That shiver in Nightwish terms is called a Floorgasm... many to come... 🤟

Emppu is indeed someone who hits you with a sledgehammer. In one song he's all chill and smooth, in other song he's chopping down trees with his guitar. Markko is amazing, he can be both backing singer and lead singer, if need be. Floor is well, Floor, it's at times hard to put her amazingness into words. Jukka never played music behind drums, Jukka was the music. And Tuomas is an absolute genius, but one who never puts himself out there.
Great to see you with Nightwish again....I'm glad I steered you down this rabbit hole...this band surprises you at every turn and Floor (as I said before) is arguably the best singer in the world....try Yours is an Empty Hope next mate... you'll wake the neighbour with that one!!!...Tuomas (the keyboard player) is called the metal Mozart...his compositions and lyrics are amazing
Symphonic metal is a genre that I wish I had discovered long before I did. It has been 10 years for me and I have listened to many exceptional bands that inhabit this space. They all share many of the same elements. If you tell somebody that has never heard that combination, they will probably be skeptical that it could work. But it does. Beautifully.
But within the symphonic metal genre, Nightwish is kind of a genre all their own. Tuomas, the guy at the keyboards, composes and writes 95% of their songs. Those songs are truly works of art, having a musical complexity and lyrical depth like no other. Through the many lineup changes in the band, his mind is the one primarily responsible for their overall sound. Another constant has been Emppu, the guitarist. He and Tuomas are the only original members still with the band. But the band remains strong. When Floor joined them in 2012, she made them even stronger. And they have grown from there.
Unfortunately, Marko, the guy on the bass guitar who you saw sing for the first time, is no longer with the band. But we have 20 years of his membership to appreciate, through many studio albums and live performances. Some might pigeonhole him as having been the "backup" vocalist for the band. But I don't think that is fair. He does sing backup on many songs, but he is also lead vocalist on a few and there are several where he is in a similar back-and-forth role like what you saw here.
Floor is a force of nature. When she joined the band, she breathed new life into it. Joining the band also helped breathe new life into her, as she was recovering from having been in a bad emotional place when they called her.
Your journey is just beginning. There are so many different sides of Nightwish to explore, but they are all good. You will like some songs more that others, but I think the rest of the army will agree that a "bad" Nightwish song does not exist.

Friend,. you can't go wrong with Gabriel's list, but if you need something with an edge to it, try Ghost River, Seven days to the Wolves, and High Hopes. Nightwish at their best.
I really love the Uilleann pipes/Irish influence on some of those songs!

Another work-out song!!!! How about that Floor-raid siren, hey? G3 - D6 and back glissando! And Marko's "WOOF" before the pyros start and he spits bars. "Your boy" Emppu's guitar solo - told you he could let it rip! What's not to like!!?.... You should see Floor next to Arjen Lucassen! She looks short there! Like Emppu, 5ft 3in, looks short next to her! Arjen is the mastermind of Aryeon and Floor sings in his epic works! e.g. Aryeon "The Day The World Breaks Down"!... Marko sings some songs with Nightwish - their tribute to Pink Floyd "High Hopes" is my personal favourite! That shiver could be a Floorgasm - not uncommon!

I know this song is a treat for any metal head, but just keep in mind that the Nightwish arsenal is different with every song and they like it that way so that the listener doesn't get bored of the same tones, same riffs, same "sound" that surrounds most songs in your average metal band.
Nightwish likes to switch it up, keep you guessing.
And Floor?...
Well, Floor likes to make sure you feel everything she sings and she has everything she needs to do it. That's what makes her a special human being, she feels the need to express the emotions of the song through her voice. Soft, sad, happy, angry, aggressive, and even right down death growl, she does it all and has an instrument of gold to get it done.
More than that, she prides herself a "geek" on the topic of the anatomy of the vocal mechanism. From breath control in the diaphragm, rib muscles, and lungs, to the resonating tone created by the shape of the skull, and absolutely everything in between.
She has master classes on her channel, if you're interested in that sort of thing. Also, it would be a good way of getting to know Floor on a more personal level.

Nice to see you covering Nightwish again so soon. I devoured their entire discography in a week after discovering them a little over a month ago. Every lead singer they've had has brought her own strengths to the band, but Floor's versatility puts her on a different level. On YT you can find videos of her singing everything from straight opera to hard-core metal to Disney songs. She can sing any style she wants and has a non-metal solo album coming out later this month.
I pity your neighbors Sevsimo! There probably aren't getting much sleep. This was before GLS. Yes, Many songs feature Marko doing harmonies and sometimes taking the lead. He is a former lead singer for his previous bands.

Ghost Love Score was the 13th song of a 15 song set in front of 82,000 Metal heads at Wacken 2013. The shiver is called a FLOORGASM. Nightwish has no bad songs in my 20 years plus listening to this band. My mantra for listening this band is, “ MY FAVORITE NIGHTWISH SONG IS THE LAST ONE IVE LISTENED TO!.” Your on a incredible journey I would suggest , Dark Chest of Wonders from this same concert the link is on Gabriel’s list. You need to listen to "Song of Myself" .....just a flat out, head banging song that I wish I head bang with that crowd! My lower back injury makes it almost impossible for me to walk, but...if I got to see Nightwish in person, there would be a healed lower back as a modern day miracle!!!! No way am I going to sit down for the whole concert!!
You should also react Wintersun:Sons of winter and stars. Studio rehearsal live session. It has current Nightwish members in it and its berserk brother of Nightwish on steroids.

Okay, I have to say something about your comment of having the Ghost Love Score intro on repeat at the gym.
I found the perfect song for speed walking the track/treadmill at the gym: I want my tears back. You haven't gotten there yet, but you will. If you want to walk super fast or jog slow, play that song and go with the beat.
Just wanted to say that since I too have enjoyed motivation from Nightwish at the gym many times.

Glad you came back, nightwish songs are never long enough. Marko does a lot of the vocals on nightwish songs until he sadly left the band a couple of years ago. But you are lucky you have got loads of Marko to go. There's also a sixth band member you haven't met yet Troy he's a multi instrumentalist, plays just about everything, the Uilleann pipes he plays a lot, so some of the songs have a celtic feel to them too. There is a lot of diversity and they are never boring, enjoy the ride🇬🇧

Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bullwhip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch.

Marko Hietala "The Viking" is a Finnish heavy metal vocalist, bassist and songwriter (Ex Member of the band).
Internationally, best known as the former bassist, male vocalist and secondary composer to Tuomas Holopainen, of the symphonic metal band Nightwish. He was also the vocalist and bassist as well as composer and lyricist for the heavy metal band Tarot. He was also a member of the supergroup Northern Kings, and portrayed one of the main characters in Ayreon's 2013 album The Theory of Everything.

You asked why the song is sooo short (5 minutes) - its because Nightwish has soooo many songs - all have to be heard by you... my suggestion is follow the list of Gabriel (yes, there are not only heavy ones but a lot of...) - or do: Ghost River, Song of Myself, Everdream, Dark Chest of Wonders (all Wacken 2013), Shudder Before the Beautiful (Wembley 2015), more in other videos...
By the way, get enought sleep was before Nightwish - now you have to record a lot of videos... 🙂

Great reaction, for sure - thanks man. I had the pleasure to see them live this year again and they get me every time. Floor was great, all on top. And what I really like about this band - besides the energy they emit - is that the bass sound is crisp as f*uck. Not sounding like a pile of mud like in other bands. Their bass play rules. I miss Marco, but their current lineup works as well. Okay, his singing cant be replaced.
For the most part, the album version with Tarja keeps up, but the climactic banshee wail in the live version is unbeatable.

i love the way that floor and macro accelerate up together, from a low growl to their head-voice then floor shifts into top gear, leaves him standing, then comes back down to meet him - epic

@sevsimo, you gotta get into Visions of Atlantis next. They're the next big thing after Nightwish. They got started 20 years ago, but only now after their 8th album, entitled Pirates have they hit their true identity and stride. They are now a full fledged Pirate band after hinting at it for the last couple of albums. Please do "Pirates Will Return" (live). You'll love it for sure.

When you eventually get around to reacting to The Greatest Show On Earth, I would advise to see the Tampere version and after react to the ending of the official live. The Tampere version is emotional for them as it's the band's birth place. Floor's parents are in attendance and the atmosphere is incredibly different from the official live. They are two incredible versions of the song and both are worth experiencing in their fullest, but this is what I suggest for the actual reaction video. Also make sure you either have the lyrics on hand or choose a version with lyrics on the screen, they are important for this particular song. For Marko's vocals (bass player that sang in this) you can get a really good idea by watching their tribute to Pink Floyd - High Hopes. Love the content, keep it coming! Greetings from Finland. ♥
