Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stay in a real-life igloo?! In this travel vlog we head to the Swiss mountains to sleep overnight in a hotel made out of snow and we couldn't be more excited about it!
Iglu-Dorf Zermatt is a hotel located just north of Zermatt, Switzerland. This place is bonkers! The hotel is rebuilt every winter, once the fresh snow has landed and so is uniquely different each year. After the construction of the snow hotel, international artists are brought in to design each room, as well as the communal areas, with unique snow sculptures and art. There are different types of rooms suitable for families, couples and groups as well as separate suites, with en suite toilet facilities and even a hot tub overlooking the Matterhorn!

Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Alex & Emma, a British couple who have been exploring the world together for over 10 years - from backpacking to vanlife:
2012/13: We both embarked on our own solo backpacking trips through Southeast Asia, where we would eventually meet at a hostel in the mountains of Thailand and begin traveling together. After a year and a half of backpacking around Southeast Asia & Australia, we returned home and to the corporate world!
2015: Travel Beans was born and we filmed our first videos on a road trip around Europe with friends! This was our biggest trip yet.. and you can go back and watch the entire adventure because we filmed ALL of it! This trip took us through Russia, Mongolia & China, on the longest railway journey in the world. Followed by highlights such as staying on a local island in the Maldives for a month, going on safari in Sri Lanka, couchsurfing & hitchhiking in Korea, seeing the snow monkeys in Japan, island hopping in the Philippines, trekking 60km through the centre of Myanmar, exploring the Indian Himalayas, and checking out some of the incredible US National Parks.
2016: Despite an unbelievably memorable year and a half of travels, which we were incredibly grateful to have had the privilege to experience.. we found ourselves in New York City, battling depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on.
2017: After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle. We left the UK with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a continuous travel lifestyle happen! We both got online English teaching jobs to be able to fund our travels and to keep creating videos. We can't quite believe that our younger selves decided to take this plunge but we are so grateful they did as we are still on this journey today!
What now?
Over the years, we've discovered that we LOVE road trips and even decided to renovate our very own little VWT4 van into a campervan to be able to enjoy vanlife and spend more time on the road. We are now the proud owners of 2 awesome little campers - one based in the UK and one that we keep in the USA. You'll often find us using one of these vans to explore Europe and North America. Yes, I would definitely try this babymoon suite experience and after hearing that you'd want to see the sunrise from the window then I'd say 2.5 days minimum.

Being from Minnesota and loving camping, I have slept in a tent at -28F windchill not included. Seeing you crawling out of the sleeping bag brought back many memories. I started winter camping with Boy Scouts when I was 12. Stopped when I froze a lung in -64F windchill at the age of 60. But I still miss it. Thank you for sharing.
What an amazing place to be for two amazing people. I for sure putting this on my "places to visit" list. Alex nailed it with the spot an all the extra things, putting a very high bar for all of us. 🙂
The most special place we ever stayed was during a 3 week kayak trip through Poland many years ago. We were trapped by heavy rain and thunderstorms on a lake with only a tarp and no tent. After two days everything was wet and we were looking for a dry place to stay at least for one night to dry out our stuff. Be asking some life guards they took us to a tiny cabin close to the lake. Just big enough for a bed a small table and a cupboard. It was very cheap, even for Poland, but we had an electric heater that we were allowed to use. What we did not know was that the whole thing was in the middle of a military area. We got a visit from an Polish officer in the evening checking what we were doing. He tried to tell us something, but we did not understand. Next morning pretty early we knew - there was a maneuver going on this day and we woke up by gun fire, tank sounds and somebody at the front door that told us with hands, feeds and a little English that we cannot leave for now as it is too dangerous. That was creepy. We later could leave the camp for the day to get to the next village to get some food and trinks, safely returning when the hot part of the maneuver was over. Next day we left without harm to continue our trip.

I married a guy, that as soon as the ring was on and the first baby was there, showed his true narcissistic, gas-lighter, sadistic colours.. now I am picking up the pieces after all the abuse to me and constantly trying to compensate and protect my kids from his behaviour.

Proper igloos have an ongoing fire inside, they have a wee hole out the top of the structure, a thin layer of ice should always be present, fire will evaporate excess water, inside, and it's WARM, inside a proper igloo. But these are lovely ice structures.. a beautiful attempt at an igloo experience. xo but I would want to be warm, inside, for sure. I think probably the strangest hotel I’ve stayed in was a converted nuclear power station in germany, but it doesn’t come even close to this. What an incredible place and a lovely thing to do before baby comes. As always great video.

I love fondue and haven't had it in ages. Cheese isn't the only kind of fondue there is! You can have meat fondues that you dip into different types of broths (yum!), and dessert fondues with chocolate in the pot for dipping fruit or little pastries. Also, I've always understood that the fondue fork is not for putting in your mouth - because you can easily stab yourself. After dipping into the fondue pot, I've always put the morsel on a plate and ate with a regular fork. I've been thinking about making fondue again lately, and now I really want to! Great video, you guys!

Alex and Emma thanks for doing this trip it was very beautiful I however will never do it because I absolutely do not like cold weather. It's nice to see the Matterhorn in a different perspective, used to seeing people climb it on video of course.
