Hope you beans are nice and toasty. The videos are amazing !! Can you please let me know where you purchased your diesel heater from as the one I have is rubbish. I have no temp settings or can control when it comes on like you mentioned in the last video. Take Care and keep warm
Hi Pete! Ours is from Autoterm (planarheaters.co.uk/) - they were great and they installed it all for us. If you end up going for it, tell them the Travel Beans sent you they'll give you a discount :)
It just occurred to me that this channel will be gold as your kids get older. We all get to a point where we're interested in what are parents were like before we were born. What they looked like. How they were together. What they looked like before they went grey! This channel is a treasure trove for your kids. It's quite a gift!
@@carolj2013 With my background and experiences, what I am really happy for their kids is that they have documented proof their parents love each other. Form my own perspective that's so important
@@danellis-jones1591 of course! But I remember when my daughter ran across a picture of me with an old boyfriend (stuck behind another picture in a shoebox in a closet - so you can tell it really meant a lot to me LOL!). That's the day she found out 1) I wasn't always a mom and 2) I had a life before her father. You could see her mind explode LOLOL
As a 38 yr old who's father passed away 10 yrs ago, and my mother is currently going thru dementia and doesn't want to talk about her past at all, not even when she was with dad... So def cherish those moments and never lose the footage!!!:)
Emma in the nesting stage of pregnancy and Alex wandering around like Paddington in the search for beer and apple juice 😂 Love you guys so much! Highlight to my WFH day on a Monday! ❤️
It's safe to say that we miss doing winter van life with you two! At one point whilst watching you both giggle endlessly, Adam turned to me and said "aww, I love the Beans because this is exactly what they are like in real life!". Love you lots xx T
Beautiful! Props to you both traveling pregnant and in the cold. Applause for Emma- I’ve had 6 babies and I’d have wimped out just having to get out of the van and walk to a restroom repeatedly at night in that cold! You two have such a sweet relationship. Love your content.
Emma thank you for addressing the hot tub/water concern of your viewers. The hot tug water in this video looks SO HOT mostly because the air is so cold. ❄️. Stay safe ❤️
Ive been spending the last few days in the hospital. They have been keeping me away from food and water. Sleep has been horrible during my time here. I just had a wonderful nap. Upon waking up they bring in this tray of chicken broth, snack pack, ice tea, jello, bubble lemon water, apple sauce and more. I turned on RUclips while i decided to eat first. It was wonderful site to see Y’all posted a new video. Double treat, and perfect timing. THANK YOU!!!! On a side note with my new medical condition i can no longer have beans. So the only beans in my life is the Travel Beans! Thanks again
I love seeing how you continue to just enjoy every little thing. You even appreciate the walk to the store. Your gratitude and appreciation come thru the screen. At a time when other travel RUclipsrs are just going through the motions, it is so refreshing to watch the Beans.
My daughter is 6 months pregnant and it really makes me smile even more now watching you guys, enjoying Emma's pregnancy while you keep doing your van life! She and her husband and I (and their dog) did all caravan together cross-country in late October from Oregon to the east coast, stopping at Yellowstone (and we saw lots of lovely bison!). Awesome video!
In 1977 I was 14 and went on a school/youth club trip to Switzerland. We went to a place called Grindelwald, which is just above Interlaken and right next to the Matterhorn mountain. It has to be one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. It was summertime and there were dozens of really high waterfalls similar to the ones the Beans saw. Big up guys.....
The Matterhorn is well over 75 km (as the crow flies) away from Grindelwald. So you likely either mixed up the mountains or went to see it on a day trip. Next to Grindelwald would be the famous mountain trio of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
That was interesting to read. In 1959 I too was on a school trip to Wilderswill near Interlaken and I still remember the sound of the cow bells as the cows came home off the hill every evening when called home by the farmer blowing through the huge horn
Y’all the the sweetest couple and i love ❤️ watching y’all on you adventures. Ladt😢night i watched many of your video. Some of the ones I enjoyed were visiting the island you had to fly to. Hunting for moose on your hike. Then the next morning one walked past your cabin and Alex was so excited he followed it in his stocking feet 👣! The bone cave and the huge water 💦 fall in two other trips. I also loved watching Emma build out the van by herself with a little help from Alex. This trip to Switzerland is so Kool! No pun intended! The snow hotels, etc adventurers. I ❤y’all
Switzerland is a dream vacation of mine, in the winter in a van, I’ll take it. You have such a cozy setup looks very comfy, love the hot tug, never saw anything like that before. Thanks for sharing your journey, and making it fun. ❄️🇨🇦
Travel Beans, Van life in Switzerland with you guys seems so romantic. Picturesque as it is. Cold is cold. But how cool is that? A floating hot tub all by your lonesome in the chilling air of the lake Having fun with it all is what keeps us always engaged. We love you guys❤❤ Sending much love from Richmond, Va. In love RV life in winter, in Florida!! When I go to Florida for January and February, and I feel the nice warm temperatures (especially mid-day) and my phone is showing me the freezing temperatures back home, I am really very, very thankful!! Unfortunately, come the first of March, I have to get back home and collect all of my income tax info to get it to my CPA so he can file it all for me before the deadline! But, but, but, my house is out in the woods and I soon get to watch spring start to break out all over, transforming the forest. A joy to watch every year!!!
As someone that needs a bathroom on board, I would not want to do "van" life in winter, but I would certainly do a small rv/travel trailer with an onboard bathroom/shower during the winter and absolutely love it.
What a wonderful example of being a bit adventurous in a different season and getting an epic lake all to yourselves. The gems of travel. Thanks for sharing.
You need to carry a small hatchet in your van for making kindling at the campsite. Also you may consider making some fire starters(Prodigy), it is really simple, you need some wood shavings like you would use for pet hamsters/rabbit bedding, sawdust, or dryer lint, then pack the shavings tightly in a silicone mini muffin mold(if your eggs come in paperboard egg cartons those work perfectly too), then melt some paraffin wax using the double boiler method(silicone bowl is best as you cannot get wax off other pans or utensils), then pour the wax over the shavings in each muffin depression and let them cool. This will give you a multitude of small firestarters that will burn for 15+ minutes each to get even damp wood started.
I’m sitting in a wintery city in Canada, waiting for spring so I can head back out in my van, and then I find this video. You two sure can find the magic! Thank you for another inspiring journey!
Love your baby bump Emma. Looks like Alex got a haircut! You guys are the best. I look forward to your posts every Monday night. Wish you would post twice a week.
When the first image of the massive scale of the stone cliff came up, I flashed on Yosemite, so Al wasn't the only one. Glad the diesel heater is up to the task of keeping the Beans warm.
Happy New Years from Canada. The footage of you floating in the middle of the lake with the mountains everywhere was stunning! Thanks for sharing and keep warm.
Van life in winter would be nice except for the worry about the icy roads. I guess if you have the right vehicle and are comfortable with it then it would be really nice. Such beautiful scenery there in Switzerland! Thanks for sharing it!
Absolutely one of our favorite stops in Switzerland. Comparing it to Yosemite is not too far off. I have been backpacking, hiking, and camping in Yosemite for over 60 years. Lauterbrunnen is magical.
Thanks for mentioning the onsen and hot tub. As a nurse I was a little bit worried for you. Now I can relax and live vicariously through you again 💙 Btw- hate winter. That's why I live in Florida 🏖️🌴👍
You two are a wonderful couple. I have been watching you all since you got the van that burned down, I couldn't stop watching and listening to you all after that. I have always wanted to see different places. but never had the chance. I just don't have the money to do it. Hell, I live in Nevada and can't even make it to The Grand Canyon, but watching let's see the world. I love you videos, I hope you baby is born healthy with no problems, and I always look forward to seeing a new video.
Yay, the Lauterbrunnen Valley! I've been lucky enough to visit, and what a spectacular place! The valley walls are so high and steep the sun seems to rise and set later! .....and yes, I would have a swim from the boat!
Absolutely stunning views, the color of the water with the snow, wow, & I would so love the Hot Tug, ahhh 🔥🥰 so fun to watch your travel videos & discover cool things to experience in various places. Thank you! Much love to the 3 of you! ❤❤❤
I've been in Switzerland in the mountains for 2.5 week for a working holiday in 2014 and i still miss it. But now I miss it even more by watching your vid. I wouldn't mind to do van life in the winter too with the right aquipment 😍 I'm in love with your lifestyle ✨️
Oh we love your Monday updates 🥰 It looks so beautiful there, that scenery is stunning! So glad you have the heater and you're all cosy and warm in the van. Shame you didn't get to light the fire but whatever happens you always laugh about it. Keep the videos comin' beans 🥰
We go camping in a Robins cabin 300 tent in winter so a van is pure luxury by comparison. As long as you have the right gear you can be comfortable in most climates excepting the absolute extremes.
Well, we don't do van life but we do 5th wheel life and just spent 4 very cold months traveling the southwest US. Used more propane to heat the camper than we have ever used. Flagstaff, Arizona was freezing at Thanksgiving 12 degrees F ! Absolutely would do the hot tub tugboat.
40+ years ago i worked as a tour guide on under 35s camping tours. We camped in Lauterbrunnen lots & its one if my favourite places in the world! In summer we chilled the beers in the wee stream, in winter the snow, just as you did. One Christmas eve we attended midnight mass in the church & the choir sang silent night in german (of course😁). Never to be forgotten memories & thank you heaps for bringing lauterbrunnen back to me!😁😇🥰
This is such a beautiful destination. I'm sorry the fire didn't work out but that soup sounded amazing! And I love that Blinkist sponsored the video. I've been using them for years! And Atomic Habits is one of my favorites!
I'm freezing just watching this video from the comfort of my home! The beauty is stunning, but wow I don't know if the frigid temperatures would be worth it...That diesel heater was your life saver!
I love that area. I skiied from Wengen for years. Catch the train up. Wengen is a typical Swiss village and if you go all the way up to Kleine Scheidegg you can catch the Jungfraubahn up to the top. If the weather is clear there is a great view. From Lauterbrunnen you can catch the cable car up to Piz Gloria restaurant which is where theJames Bondmovie was set
oh my heavens this has got to be the most beautiful place !!!!!!!!! wow gorgeous ... thank you so much for sharing ... we are still camping in our fifth wheel and its been really cold in Maryland this year ... and there is hardly any one else at the campground .. its magical
I've been to the Lauterbrunnen Valley twice, one of the most stunning valleys on the planet. Its the background pic on my desktop :) The view from the rail station at Wengen up on a "shelf" above the valley is....😍
Emma and Al, JUst checked on Amazon and there are many propane heaters that you could use to help out with the cold. Many use a propane tank (1 pound) and don't required electricity.
OMG The views in this video took my breath away. One of your most spectacular to date. Thank you for lighting up my day, as always. I'm so happy for you guys. No, I wouldn't camp in winter unless forced to, but, THE BOAT! Definitely! Thanks also for addressing our worries about your pregnancy and hot tubs, hot springs, etc. I was a bit worried, but, felt confident you would never be irresponsible with your little bean. Big love to the 3 of you!🥰
We ADORE Lauterbrunnen. ADORE IT! First trip there was in 1981. Been back many times. It is one of our favorite places in the world. So fun to see it in this video. You guys are so positive. It’s a delight to watch.
That little place looks amazing. Do you two know how extremely lucky you are?????? I would give anything to be there with you. I have never been to Europe, but have always wanted to go to Scotland which is where my grandparents came from when they were teenagers. My second place on my list is right where you two are now. I love the quaintness of the houses and the little towns.
We're expecting our 4th (or more)(I say more because we already have twin grandsons) grandchild at the end of August, we're so looking forward to it, enjoy every minute you can with baby bean because they grow up far too soon
There was a day I did things like that. But that day has come and gone. I'm 79 now so I like to spend my Winters in a nice warm house. But back in the day it was fun.
You are so relatable! Wife resorting the entire kitchen at zero notice, me forgetting her ONE thing while going shopping. And still getting a nice warm soup. You are not alone, Alex! And if you like to discuss more behavioural science, like you saw in Atomic habits, let me know. Its what I'm doing for a living in financial services here in Australia.
I agree we used to worry when we went out and left the van that we would come back and we would have been burgled, but never did thank goodness. Glad to see "mum" is taking care of her new-born in the hot and cold tug. Just watched Kingin it and they swam in ice cold lake in cave in Sweden. I think yours is more acceptable. Take care both and keep warm.
Absolutely stunning! Bucket list! The beer run was amazing! 🍺The soup muwah! 🍲Love you guys! Baby soon!🍼 Hot tub in the lake incredible! Shelley & Donald Xx
We’ve stayed at camping jungfrau a couple of times, it’s unreal! You should see it summertime, colours are amazing and, we’ve now promised ourselves another visit in the winter ❄️ 🤩

Oh yes, that is the ultimate winter adventure. If it involves water I’m in. Thanks so much for being you and taking us along for the ride. 💕

Wow, we love watching all of your videos. You have inspired us for our travel plans 😊😊
My husband and I got engaged in Lauterbrunnen. I am also 20 weeks pregnant and burst into tears at the footage. Oh memory lane and hormones ❤😂
Wow... It looks like a deserted Yosemite valley. Ha! You just said that too. 😊
The town reminds me of Truckee, near Lake Tahoe.
Stay warm and no I don’t like being cold!

I loved Lauterbrunen and the mountains in there. Great hiking. Switzerland is beautiful.
Your humor and giggles easily transfer to me and brighten my day. Thx!! Stay safe, happy and blessings this new year!
Simply two of the most genuinely nice, engaging and honestly interested people. Thanks for sharing
We're expecting our 4th (or more)(I say more because we already have twin grandsons) grandchild at the end of August, we're so looking forward to it, enjoy every minute you can with baby bean because they grow up far too soon
Y’all are so cute! Love y’all! Emma is just glowing. Enjoy every second. Time goes by so fast once your little bean is born. ❤
There was a day I did things like that. But that day has come and gone. I'm 79 now so I like to spend my Winters in a nice warm house. But back in the day it was fun.
Wintery cold weather all the way for me!!!! Especially if you’re warm! 😃👍🏻🥰🙅♀️🙅♀️
Just so beautiful nice that fresh cold air and then that warm inside the van must be beautiful
Take care both and keep warm.
hehe those two are mad! We are such wimps when it comes to the cold 😂 that cave lake/sauna looked incredible though eh!
The hot tub looked amazing
Nothing better than a hot bowl soup when it is cold outside
I like camping in the cold weather months, so Id love to van life in the winter!
Stunning. Love the Hot Tug Boat.. We love Switzerland too..
I love watching your videos and congratulations on becoming parents soon . I love going touring around and waking up in a different place everyday .
Absolutely stunning! Bucket list! The beer run was amazing! 🍺The soup muwah! 🍲Love you guys! Baby soon!🍼 Hot tub in the lake incredible! Shelley & Donald Xx
I love all seasons!
Love your adventures. Keep our Baby Bean warm.
We’ve stayed at camping jungfrau a couple of times, it’s unreal!
You should see it summertime, colours are amazing and, we’ve now promised ourselves another visit in the winter ❄️ 🤩
