      I knew it. It only seemed like it was me rallying against that guy telling them about a graffiti artist that did the same but filmed the entire process.
      Thank god I’m not alone.

    I can tell that first one is from 1999 without you even opening it. Very Nine Inch Nails, ‘Thief’, ‘Se7en’ kind of 90’s grunge look to it. A load of kids think the look then was all Neville Brody Y2K not so it was very edgy back then. Good stuff.

    7:25 How did you achieve your technique? -- I'm gonna try and be kind here, because the person asking the question might be a youngster. But the purpose of the sketchbook is to get ideas on paper and work out your craft. And that is pretty much it. You gotta practice, man. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, Practice Practice. Nobody came to this without it. I don't care who they are.

    what would your advice be for someone who fills a sketchbook within 1-2 months, and now over the year has ammased a pile of sketchbooks with me only seeing them as natural progresion or to pick ideas from, but other than that all its doing is agravating me as theirs a 1m stack of books just in the corner of my studio, whats your advice for people burning through sketchbooks, i used to have the other problem of not being able to fill a sketchbook for year but since ive become addicted to drawing everyday my wallet and my space is taking a negative hit. and i cant bring myself to throw away some of the rubish sketchbooks as i flip through it and then find ideas i would want to refine and take further so havent the heart to throw away the irelevant work.

    • @hugoboch3098

    Do the new Moleskine sketchbooks deserve the price since they've downgraded the paper? Please, which one is a better alternative if it does not? The Sakura or the Canson 180? I draw with graphite and colored pencils. Thanks in advance

    • @NelaDunato
      @NelaDunato Год назад +3

      I'm not James, but frankly I feel like Moleskine was never worth the price. Talens Art Creation is most similar to it in color (cream), texture (very slick) and weight (140 gsm I think). I'm not a fan since I prefer white paper, but if you like yellowish paper, that's the closest substitute for the Moleskine sketchbook.
      I prefer Canson Universal or Canson 180 (exact same paper, just a different type of cover) for pencil and ink drawings. Graphite erases very easily. Though if you're heavy-handed, you might indent the paper as it's quite thin (90 gsm), which might result in some pigment transfer on the opposite side of the paper. A protective piece of scrap paper is definitely recommended to prevent that.
      Canson One has 100 gsm dry media paper. Slightly toothy so it works for charcoal as well, but no obvious texture so it's nice for pencils. Bad for ink so I'll never buy another one again, but it might actually work out better for you. It's a bit basic though, no pocket or elastic strap, if that matters to you.

    • @NelaDunato
      @NelaDunato Год назад +1

      @@Av4nQuisH I actually avoid cream/ivory sketchbooks. But as far as I know, Moleskine, Stillman & Birn Gamma and Delta, and Handbook Journal are in that category.

    • @CastleMc
      @CastleMc 10 месяцев назад

      disagree, I love the Moleskins for graphite and ink. Talens SBs have their own charm and are amazingly versatile but the paper is much less substantial@@NelaDunato

    • @NelaDunato
      @NelaDunato 10 месяцев назад

      @@CastleMc Tastes differ! I didn't like the Moleskine for ink at all. It always looked grayish and streaky instead of rich black. (I didn't have this issue with other sketchbooks.)
