To save time I just copied and pasted the original email I sent me neighbor, all the links are in there.
1.) Dog Harness : (x1) I picked this one because it is shaped like a triangle, just like the one in the photo, so it will be easy to sew on the clip to the side of the harness. Obviously you would know the size better than me and the color.

2.) Pneumatic Hollow Wheels : (x2) I did a little research on the benefits of larger versus smaller wheels and they use larger wheels for a reason. Copy and pasted what I found out it is kinda interesting : "A larger diameter wheel (given the same sized axle) has more leverage between the edge and the axle, it therefore needs fewer turns for a given distance, and the resistance in the axle is reduced. This makes it “Faster” in the sense that less energy is required to overcome axle friction."

3.) Tie Down Clips : (x1) These are for the clips in the back that get attached to the base that hold up the straps the back legs rest in. It's an 8 pack so I can also mount two on the back bar for if he ever gets to the point where the back legs need support the chair has an option for a rear hanger to hold up the legs and these could be used there as well.

I knew you were one of us. Just standing around minding your own business and someone says they need something that costs to much or that no one makes etc.. and that's when it happens, a little switch go off and your eyes start to glow and your brain starts drawing pictures. You say to yourself I can make that. Not for fame and fortune(be nice) but for your self gratification. Nice job on the scooter hope pup runs the wheels off it.

First off, the outcome for our dog after making one of these has been absolutely phenomenal. We have to force her to chill out because she wants to go all the time now.
A lesson learned. If you opt to use elbow couplings instead of bending the EMT, the typical cast zinc couplings are no good. One of them completely ripped apart yesterday and the other shows signs of being on its last legs. I see that the same people that sell the T couplings used for the wheels also sell a steel right angle coupling. I have ordered a couple of these to try.

Duncan isn't grumpy, that's his smile of thanks! (tip: to prevent those wheels from cambering out, you could drill the "T" and put a bolt through it and the 3/4 conduit to prevent "swinging out". But its not bearing too much a load. ) Great work! Pet owners need more neighbors like you! You are like a Badger of All Trades!
Yeah I told him if he has a problem with the wheels more to much we could add a bolt just like the way you are describing to fix it.

Yeah I should have kept the old beat up ones, the new ones weren't cheap, and are the most uncomfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn. And I've worn heels!

I don't have a workshop anymore (small apartment) so it is more practical for me to just buy the Walkin' Wheels, however, the quality of the cart you created is radically better. Plus the walkin' wheels ships completely unassembled with incredibly bad instructions for putting it together (the primary reason they get such a huge number of returns). It's a bit irksome that they charge that much and outsource virtually all the labor to the customer.
I am saving your video because even though I don't have the space to build my own dog cart from scratch there's a wealth of useful information to improve a ready made cart.

For the clamps that fit loosely, wrap the pipe with friction tape (if you can find it) or a strip of rubber.

Well done!! Both with the video and comment section replies, you are a marvelous example of human compassion and ingenuity in action. Your gift is priceless for those who have monetary restrictions, and enables them to do something which helps the dog AND provides the pet's owner with pride of accomplishment by doing it themselves. Ultimately, when the price of a wheelchair product may cost as much as rent does for some folks, this low-cost instruction really saves more than one life in the long run - and perhaps may keep both an owner and the pet housed. I have certainly sacrificed and fudged my budget for my furry family members, and I know others would do whatever it takes and sometimes even put their own health and welfare at risk for a furry family member.
So thank you for your wonderful tutorial, for your expertise and your service in benefit to others. I was so impressed, I liked and subscribed - and I rarely do that for just anything or anyone. :)

Thanks for this comment. I really tried to design this to be functional and durable, yet easy to build for someone without a lot of building experience. All while trying to keep the cost down. Wow, great video. Thanks so much! My 5 yr old GSD suddenly became paralyzed in his back end. The emergency vet isn't quite sure what is causing it, as nothing showed on his x-rays. 😢 They recommend using a sling, to help him get around, but that isn't working out so well. I think I will make one of these for him ❤

I have a 10 year German Shepherd & he was diagnosed with Hip dysplasia & has left knee weakness. But otherwise he is great! He still loves food, playing ball, his walks & life itself! He is a very happy guy just does everything slow now! I want of these soo bad, I would pay anything thing for my fur-babies, I even got him 2 knee Braces for more support! But these wheelchairs are much more expensive for a 120lb German Shepherd even for my pet insurance! So Thank you soo much for your video on making one for Sergio!!

OK I finally just got all my items from Amazon & Lowes now so this weekend I'm going to try to put this together for my 10 year old German Shepherd Sergio! Now I wish you could do something for training wheels for an adult bike! I fell & broke my R hip 2 years ago & still little nervous to get back out on my bike! To buy them is very expensive also like my doggie wheelchair! If you come up with any good ideas please share! Thanks

This is a great video for someone who has'nt much money and needs one for their dog. The only thing is, what is a person to do if they dont have all the right tools or if they just arent crafty the way you are? Keep up the good work.

Thank you for this video. To me, in my search for a wheelchair for my lab, I noticed the prices are far too expensive. A wagon with at least twice as much in materials cost a fraction of the wheelchair price, but not a functional design for a dog. Someone shouldn’t have to feel stressed and take out a loan to have their beloved dog mobile again. Thanks again.

.Excellent Design and work. Lightweight, strong, custom fit. It would be possible to use *lightweight strong & instantly adjustable* aluminium crutches with a fixed back end section to make this design dog body length custom fit. Its a very commendable project but having seen other builds I'm thinking it'd be better for the wheels to be slightly chubbier like wheelbarrow wheels which can be bumped over anything; They're robust with low puncture rating. What do you think? Would they get in the way? I think the design needs to be slightly different for dogs with rear end disability rather than no legs at all.

Hi! Thanks for your video. I am in the process of making one now. Didn't quite work out as planned, needs to be tweaked.
Those leg loops look so uncomfortable, I tried to make fabric straps that I could unfasten then pull up through the dogs legs and Velcro over the pole....not so easy. 😣 My dog is 62 lbs and his front legs are painful so neither of us are going to be happy about lifting his rear in and out of those loops. I think I'm up to plan "G" by now. 😖
Maybe a cradle of sorts, similar to what you lay in for hang gliding?
That’s good but HOW does your dog sit or go to the bathroom? I made one from a collapsible backpack/chair…so there is a hinge there the bars connect

I love you video, I have a 10 year old English bulldog. He has osteosarcoma and has to have his right front leg amputated. So I’m looking at how to build a chair for the front limb. Any ideas on how to on how I could convert your project?
I’m sorry about your bulldog that sucks. I have seen these with the wheels in the front so yes it’s doable. You can build it like a walker in the front that the harness clips into.
I dont have access to a lot of the things you are using to implement this, its a great viedeo and a beautiful piece !!! just not something I can reproduce

@@smudger3805 THanks for the tip! Unfortunately for my feet these weren't cheap so I'm not buying another pair. But, I'll remember that for the next time around. And, hopefully even though I've been wearing these for over a month and they still suck, eventually the leather loosens up a bit and they aren't as bad. But yeah never again with this brand.

My cavalier (20lbs) has DM. He doesn't mind his wheel chair, though can't use it on the grass. When playing along the side walk, he tends to flip himself over a lot while running and turning (suddenly), trying to go after the ball. How on earth do i keep him from tipping over? The wheel chair i got for him was from amazon, and does well for just walking, but then running and playing.. things get scary.
I would try and find a cheap pair of used training wheels. There is probably a way to attach them to the tire hub. That should help a lot. The problem is depending on how tall your tires are you might have to cut them down a little.

We got everything except the the harness fix that's the problem we are having exactly what part's beside the harness do we need to connect the harness to the rods on both side ? Please help ! This construction made from 3/4 conduit is for small dog will it work for my 95 lbs german shepard ?
I don't see why not. The wheels are what holds up the majority of the weight, so as long as the connection from the upper conduit to the leg that feeds the wheel is solid you should be fine.
Ok what I meant is if 3/4 conduit will hold his weight whilenhis back legs will be hanging on legs support which is attached to conduit, can I use the same t connector?

I GOT ONE FOR MY BLIND PUG FOR $45!!!! BEST THING I EVER BOUGHT. I TAKE HIM OUT EVERY DAY. HE LIKES IT! ( HE CAN PEE AND #2 WITH IT). LITTLE FARTLETT!
Where were you able to find one? I need one for my dog and $45 is much more in my price range because I live on fixed income .

Try pvc is much easier
I used metal on this because I designed this so it can be sized up or down based on the size of the person's pet. And, while I think PVC would work great for smaller breeds I didn't want to chance bowing issues on someone using this design for a say a 90lb dog. If that dog has little mobility and you are relying on the cart holding up most of the weight, PVC is not a good choice in that circumstance.
These companies are price gouging. Are you kidding? It is too pricey for the actual materials and labor. Then the harness included is mediocre and you can’t hook a leash to it to walk your dog. They expect you to put a collar with the vest? I had to pay $48 for the small vest with the metal D ring. This is for a small dog . $300 total. Thankfully the wheelchair was on sale $50. cheaper. And they offer a parts warranty for $50. I bunch of thieves preying on people with dogs who are suffering something very traumatic for the pet as well as the owner.
I don't disagree with you. But I also don't have any personal experience with any of these companies and originally would have liked to think people wouldn't mark up prices intentionally, knowing people are willing to pay because they love their pets. But, your experience sounds exactly like why I decided to spend the time making this. And that is because I knew it could be done by people with a little know how at a much cheaper price. Your experience sounds very frustrating and I hope things worked out man.
