In 1983 I owned an Allegro motorhome. I brought it to Tiffin Motorhomes. I met Bob Tiffin I was treated like I was family. One of the workers repairing my coach let me use his pickup truck to see the town. I have never experienced that level of customer service. They were fabulous.
Just to let you know that was our RV that was hit. It had been at Tiffin since April 10 for a complete back end repair after I ran into it after my gas pedal in my car while pulling up to it. It took until July 8 for Tiffin to fix it. Mr. Tiffin immediately put a new one on the manufacturing line which we received in Sept 2019. Can't say enough good things about Tiffin and their customer service.
Wow Elaine, that is awesome to hear that! We wondered about the owners getting a replacement out of that! We can't imagine having to go through that. This is another customer service story that truly confirms why we chose Tiffin! I hope you swapped out the car with the sticky gas pedal as well! Hope the new one is serving you well!! Thanks for the update!
Tiffin is one of the best RVs, and is the best manufacturer, when it comes to tech and customer service. That is coming from a master certified RV technician. )
Thanks for posting your experiences Phil and Stacy. I’m a fellow Texan in Cypress looking forward to hitting the road soon. Your experiences are helping our decision making process.
Well thanks for this! We were about to tear into this project and now know after watching this it’s too much for us . Thanks a million. You’re videos are helping thousands out here trying to limp along in this way of living !! Our maiden voyage is happening this coming weekend ! Big Booty Judy is hitting the road !!
WOW, I remember seeing that news story. While I was truck driving I saw and was a victim of many acts done by extremely impatient drivers. Both on the road and at shippers and receivers. Just can't fix stupid.
That story about the damage at Tiffin was amazing, and CRAZY! Sounds like someone was off her meds. We spent a week at the service center in August for small warranty repairs, so that escapade must have happened recently. I agree with the level of service the great techs provided. We checked in with 16 items on our "punch list" of fixes needed (small stuff like a slide starting generator, broken drawer latch, window leak...) and the techs fixed 33 items, several of which were so small we'd ignored or items that they identified. They even put it on a lift and re-torqued a couple of chassis bolts for me, after I'd installed a steering stabilizer a couple of weeks prior... not exactly their responsibility. It was a great new owner experience.
I just started watching your videos ❤️. My husband and I just bought our first Class A used RV ,we are so excited ,retired Navy looking forward to those road trips . I’m learning a lot from your videos. Thank you both so much for sharing your experiences and information. Blessings from Indy
Just watched the Staying Positive on the road video and loved it! Well done! Also thanks to you both and all of our Veterans this weekend! We're positive about that!!! Brendan & Lena
Wow wow wowsie. We stayed in Tuscumbia 45 minutes away, hubby took the tour at Tiffany’s and met Mr. Tiffin. Just found your page. We are looking at the Super C.
Crazy for sure! One of my biggest pet peeves in life is that others have to suffer the punishment for one fool's act. We have a 2002 40 ft Dutch Star and we've had few maintenance items. I want to comment that since we full-time we've used different places for repair and once they know we are full-time (with dogs) they have always made a way to accommodate us (so far). Either they have worked with us to be able to pull out and sleep in the rig or they have allowed us to plug in at their facility and stay. Most recently we had to replace the starter and we were stuck in a welcome center. The mobile repair place spent two days tracking down parts and repaired it where we were without having to have a tow. (cost $1100 - part was $599) We used a Peterbilt center to replace the motor for our landing Jacks ( $1200). The best value (thanks to the help of a vlog from RV Geeks) husband and son-in-law serviced our generator themselves total cost $108 and it runs so great now! Hope this helps!
That does help....A LOT!! Thanks so much for sharing. I have heard about places accommodating full timers. So nice to see it is still happening. Safe travels.
That's plum crazy. Tiffin should install inground hydraulic traffic barricades in front of each door. It may cost a pretty penny, but that accident probably cost at least $50 to 100k. Not to mention the new fencing and other modifications to the property.
Hi Guys ...WOW!!! is right. We just sold our 2011 RED 34qfa, owned since new and purchased from Hershey RV show. For the first 4 years we owned it we went back to Red Bay every fall for repairs and didn't pay a dime for anything. From paint work, wood work, chassis work, electric work. I always argued with Wade the service manager that it was a defect from new and should be covered under warranty they agreed. WE spent many weeks in the service center campground before they started the 1 year rule. So this storey is amazing. In 2018 we had the dinette slide floor replaced, a regular problem for this model. Water ingress and rotted the floor, fully replaced again under warranty at Kimborough RV over near Florence AL. Another service center for Tiffin. Great great service. For a different camping experience while we waited for service or on weekends we would take the coach to Toshimingo state park just across the border in Miss. Beautiful place very quiet. Thanks for the video. Safe travels.
That is a WOW and CRAZY. Not her finest moment for sure. But properly can be replaced. Didn’t sound like anyone was hurt other than their dignity so that’s good. Thank you for sharing. We are a 3 month 19ft travel trailer weekend noobies. But loving it. Thanks again for sharing your lifestyle and information.
My dear friend Judy Pruitt and her sister Teresa work in the welcoming office where you first pull in. Also, my niece Sherry and her husband Bobby work the other week. ( They work one week on and one off.) They’re great people and I’m sure they took good care of you. Enjoyed your video. I used to live just across the state line near Belmont, MS.
2017 450P in 2020 red bay had to rewire bedroom slide out because wire harness was getting crushed and wouldn't work. This year we lost 110 power on driverside I looked under bed and lots of exposed wires. I stopped at Red Bay and technician couldn't believe the did the repair. it took 3 guys 9 hours to repair. I was told I was lucky we didn't have a major fire. It seems repair was done right this time. They did repair for free and worked over # hour limit. (Coach is over 4 years )
Ken and Cor 2018 Tiffin Phaeton 40IH XSH We were at the service Center Oct. 3, 2019 through Oct. 19, 2019 for warranty work, paint work, and some service on our Aqua Hot. We had about 25 items going in, with a few more added as the techs were working on the coach. We were charged for 30 minutes labor for servicing the Aqua Hot. The balance was covered under warranty. The paint work was to repair paint work performed by another dealer in Illinois. I also had some tree scratches buffed out while we were in the paint bay. Our total bill was about $80.00. We were not sure if we were supposed to tip the techs, so we fed them breakfast and tipped them for their excellent service. Based on the information we received from the folks on our 2018 Tiffin 40 IH XSH Forum, we tipped each tech $50 per day for their service. Keep up the great work. And thank you for your service!!!
Thank you so much for adding your repair work to the comments. I know will help those reading the comments. We also tip the guys and the first time we were there we fed them several times. They were great guys to work with and to learn from.
Ken, you must have a coach that is still under warranty and I have heard that Tiffin is great for taking care of it's customers. Just the deal on the Aqua Hot and we have one in our coach, there is nothing cheap on those. I ordered a high limit thermodisc for the diesel side the other day; $71 for this tiny part. UGH! I have learned quite a bit on how to work on and service the AH.
I also think it Shouldn't change things for others. How many rigs were serviced with no problem? Why should anything change because one person was an idiot? Makes no sense to me.
Grand Design 337RLS 5th wheel out of warranty. While at a RV park in Colorado we by chance noticed a Grand Design technician in the park. I inquired about his purpose for being there. Normally he works Grand Design rallies but due to covid he going to rv parks looking for Grand Design rvs to service. I mentioned that I had concerns about our brakes ( he considered an emergency). The next day he came and replaced two complete brake assemblies and repacked the bearings at NO cost. This level of service is the reason we have a Grand Design.
One thing I do not like about owning a motorhome from Tiffin. I have 25000 miles on my Phaeton that has a leak in the ceiling, I called Tiffin and told them the Vin # and Year 2005 with 25000 miles. The answer is oh we dont service older RV's. Ugh what? its your Tiffin that you stand by and dont service them. After serving this great country and 4 tours I am kind of beat up and just cant do what I use to. But they just dont do older Rv's even their own. Live and learn.
Wow indeed. Crazy. We were in red bay last month. Things at Tiffin seem to be back to normal. We stayed at Red Bay Acres and loved it. Restaurant was open and excellent
Exactly! Thanks goodness they were closed and everyone was long gone. The Phaeton was pushed into the workbench of the employees. I dont even want to think about someone being there.
We had the exact same problem with our 2014 Allegro RED 33AA. Sink drain hose kinked, cracked, and leaked. Same cost, same great customer service. I highly recommend a trip to Red Bay for your Tiffin. You only get 3 Tech hours for out of warranty repairs so the plumbing repair took all the allocated Tech time. We went to MS RV Solutions for slide topper repair and Banner RV Paint & Auto for some fiberglass and paint repair both in Golden, MS about 5 miles from Red Bay. Both did excellent work in a timely manner. I'll be coming back for any other work I need.
Since you are former military can you please do series on base RV parks. We have stayed at camp Pendleton several times and are wondering where else is worth traveling to
WOW that's incredible! We have a 05 Teton, that was supposed to be fixed before we received it. The partnership broke up, and the partner that made the promise left. We now have a 5th wheel with bad landing gear, one slide not working, and drains leaking. One person started installing the landing gear, then got busy on normal job. Went to another person, who accidentally broke a living room window moving the trailer around, and it's been over a year. Wish us luck!
I was there about four days after you left and while I was there on my second trip by the way I was there for one month I was there for six weeks on the first trip anyway they got all the fencing up in the guard station etc. rerouted the road right there so that you weren’t going against RV parking traffic etc.
I'm going to stick my neck out and predict that one, or both of them are serious alcoholics. Judging by the mug shot of the wife, she's been drinking heavily for years. What is truly frightening is that the couple may drive their Class A while under the influence of alcohol and one can just imagine the danger they would present to other cars on the road. Any collision between the Class A and an ordinary automobile could have life threatening consequences, especially on the highway. Think of a car with two parents in the front and their small children in the back. That's what chills me to the bone. One article I read stated that the drunk couple's Tiffin Red was probably a total loss. I can only hope so. They should never be allowed on the road again in an RV, or any vehicle for that matter, until they go through detox followed by an AA program and can then prove they are clean and sober.
Our rig “Ruby Jewel” is a 2017 Phaeton 40ih we just took delivery of her in October. My husband bought all the Glide pads and replaced them himself. Only one was difficult to do and our sink drain will eventually need to be replaced too. After watching your video I think we can tackle that too, maybe. Lol
There is a big difference between a drunk, and a social drinker, I don't live on top of a pedestal, I don't throw everyone who drinks into the same category as the drunken alcoholics, there's a big difference between the 2 demographics of social drinkers and the down and out wake up have to have a beer with my cereal drunks.
"...I can hopefully fix some of these things down the road..." My wife and I are long time RV'ers, and are asked quite often by other people whar they should know before they get into the lifestyle. I always tell them they need some ambition, as set up and tear down can often be laborious, be familiar with plumbing, electronics, and mechanical repairs. Most of all, be patient with your spouse/significient other, or your travels will be "less than smooth!!"
You guys are great! Very methodical and explanatory. I have to say I wish I had bought a Tiffin instead of Forest River product! We took our new to us 2017 Class A to La Mesa RV for service one month after buying it from them to have all my cameras working again and it cost me as much for a hidden FUSE as Tiffin charged you for all the work you had done on your rig? Live and learn. Cancelled the warranty we bought from that dealer!!!!!!
Liked this video, especially liked your cutting of the scenes where you are traveling to red Bay in the short segments at each stop. One year of Repairs:. New roof: 12K, Turbo and inner cooler: 15K, Replace Engine: 30K, New tires: 5K. 2006 Dutch Star. Engine replacement is the result of poor turbo service, tech got iron filings in the engine exhaust port.
@@todayissomeday no, long story but lawyers are 500/hr here 60 hr = engine replacement) with no guarantee, at least I had the repairs done at a different facility :-)
Have a 2004 Bounder 38N Have not had any repairs done other than annual service on the engine and generator. Oil Change and new Belt and Air Filter. Oh I forgot I had a issue with Trailer Lights and they did repair that at the same time. Cost was $1100.00
Wow on the lady. We always bring the rigs in and have pop up barriers in front of bays. Also wow that they would allow you into the service work area. Thats a liability nightmare. In the shop I work at thats a huge no go. Also customer's asking so many questions while you are trying to make the repair. This cost me time and them money.
WOW I have an older Safari (2000) watching your blogs and wondering if it is worth it for additional solar. Will do more research and with the fuel prices, will wait and see. Thanx for great information.
I feeling this video very interesting. Although I have not owned a Tiffin my coworker and secretary bought one in 2015 about 360 horsepower or something like that. For the first nine months it was in the shop for repair. The good side of that is mr. Tiffin invited them back and house them extended their warranty for a year and repaired everything plus I think you paid for their fuel to get from Placer County California to Red Bay. That's what I call good customer relationship. We are on our tenth one we're going to order it here in a month or two and they all seem to generate problems so no matter how much or how little you pay they have problems. Thanks for your video. Perhaps we'll see you when we get on the road again in July August and September may be part of October.
I have a 2000 Allegro diesel pusher we bought in September 2020 along with a 2004 Jeep Wrangler sport and Falcon 2 tow package. This was our first RV and we were on the road. We left Peachtree City, GA and did a 8k mile trip in a big circle up the Michigan's UP and across to Tacoma, WA then down to Victorville and I 40 east back home. It was awesome, we love US 2 running near Canada border. We used the RV Parky app and also stayed at 2 Harvest Host properties. We did stay 1 week at Hamilton Branch State Park in SC, located on Strom Thurmond Lake. It was absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend it. We were feet from the lake and it was pretty quiet and peaceful. We returned home on Nov 11th 54 days of awesome travel. We are heading to AZ in February to stay for 1 month meeting 2 family members with their campers. On the way we will be having some service down at Lakeshore Custom RV in Luka, MS close to Red Bay. Tiffin will not service rigs that old. I also have some fiberglass repairs from my toad which had a blowout on right front and piece of tire struck back of RV and cracked rear light lens. The blowout appears to be from dry rot in the tires they were 7 years old. Who would think to check car tires age? I am taking it to Pro Finishes in Belmont, MS. The owner works at Tiffin.
WOW. But I'm sure frustrations may have been a part of it. $50 a night. That's unbelievable. I know in Jersey we get off season with returning Customer discount for low $40s. That is good to hear. We had an AC unit issue and had the Dealer install a second unit. They didn't install half the parts or clean the RV before we picked it up. Then took months to Bill us. Needless to say we got the unit at cost because we ended up cleaning and fixing all the minor defects ourselves.
Please share the cost of your RV repairs to help our community learn about RV costs. Thanks! And WOW! Can you believe what happened!!
Ok I sure will. 😊 And no I can't believe it smh.
Seems like the hose repair should’ve been under warranty at such a young age.

Holy crap! That is terrible. Hoping you can get it repaired soon.
I was there about four days after you left and while I was there on my second trip by the way I was there for one month I was there for six weeks on the first trip anyway they got all the fencing up in the guard station etc. rerouted the road right there so that you weren’t going against RV parking traffic etc.
$50.00 a night omg. Highway robbery. Spent so much on the RV can’t afford that.
Agreed.
WOW! CRAZY!!! HOPE I NEVER GET A CAMP SITE NEXT TO HER!😅
I hope she never gets to drive another car much less RV.
Hopefully a site next to hers will be a jail cell! Not recommended. While they do have full hookups, travel opportunities are limited. :)
@@stevek6921 Haha
WOW!! I do recall reading about this. So crazy!
WOW. She knocked the transmission out of the new rig. That’s crazy. Glad no one was in the area at the time
WOW!
THAT IS BEYOND CRAZY!
Arrested. She needs to be jailed and re-educated about her attitude.
A FULL ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT...
WOW. The blessings of alcohol
Unbelievable. What's in the heart of some people
Guess that couple lost their membership in the Tiffin owner’s group.
Ya think!!
They should be blacklisted but still members. With pictures and "Don't let this happen to you!"
WOW!!!!!! CRAZY!!!!!!! There's always at least one like that everywhere ya go. OY VAY!!
Lol
Thats why I dont drink and I dont like hanging around drunk people
@John Preciado the same inland I live apparently. Drunks not cool
It had more to do with that lady being just drunk. She was obviously Bat sh*t crazy.
CRAZY AND WOW!
As in crazy person!
Just takes 1 drunk person to ruin it for everybody.
Agreed!!
WOW!!!
Price on repairs are pretty good if you asked me!!! Nice to be able to drive up to the manufacturer and get parts. That’s awesome!
Out of her head drunk, and pissed off over bad service. One thing the dealership could do is improve their service.
WOW. This type of driving is why I don’t ride with my wife
Lol...lol... mine doesnt drink but she's got a lead foot. And can handle our 38' class A
Ha we were in Red Bay in March last year not long after this and the workers love to tell the story.
That was really CRAZY!
Wow! That is CRAZY!
WOW. OMG YOU GUYS ARE GREAT.
wow holy cow repair cost and the guys great job good prices ..
"WOW"....Double "WOW " even.
I always stay at Downtown RV Park. Linda and Bill are great people and I can use their yard for my dogs.
I USED TO DELIVER THE AWNINGS TO THEM FROM LAGRANGE IN, LOVED TALKING TO THE PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE.......
Excellent video and love the details in video. You guys also hilarious and your bloopers LOL. Safe travels to you guys
Thanks so much!!
Yikes!! Not good at all......hopefully the shop paid for the engine replacement!!!
Cost was $1100.00
Would like to see more detailed shots of that rattle snake saloon you drove to that looked cool
It's great to get a sense of the realities of owning a coach like a Tiffin.
Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would love to see the expression on the responding officers faces when they arrived at the scene
WOW! That's really crazy!
OMG….WOW…Absolutely CRAZY!!!! UNREAL
I love your ideas and I have made notes on everything
Stacy keep sharing your experiences thanks
CRAZY... that's an understatement
Wow 😯. That’s unbelievable.
WOW! That's CRAZY!
WOW! she was nuts!!
You have to remember that they're giving Tiffin free advertising, that's why they are so accommodating
We have a class C Coachman Leprechaun and broke a fan cover in bathroom. We took to a local rv repair center and they fixed it for $40.
WOW! Bravo Sierra Crazy!
Sounds very reasonable.
WOW I have an older Safari (2000) watching your blogs and wondering if it is worth it for additional solar. Will do more research and with the fuel prices, will wait and see. Thanx for great information.
THAT's FREAKING CRAZY!!!!
One of the reasons we went with our Tiffin....customer service is way above board! Good luck and safe travels!
You correct that the Tiffin Service Center won't work on 10 yr old rigs, but all the out lying shops will. You name it, they can do it.
Very educational- thank you
Very welcome
