Maybe a hint. When sliding on a carpet or rug. Turn the rug upside the carpet goes down the rubber up. Slides better on the floor and piece stats better on the rubber.
You handled that furniture switch with grace (and some muscle) while showing what teamwork can accomplish. All of us who RV know how easy it is to get frustrated at our partners when we find ourselves in a challenging situation.
Hmmm...a company in Red Bay working with Tiffins all the time couldn't tell you beforehand that the bolts wouldn't line up?? Anyway, hubs and I have a 2015 Red AA and we got rid of the floating recliner on the back side of the sofa, and we haven't missed it once. Filled the space in with a small chest with storage in it and a wood trash cabinet with a wood top & drawer that we move to the blank wall opposite the kitchen when stationary. Happy travels!
We have a 6 yr old WInnebago/Itasca Solei. It is peeling and was a mess so we found a reasonae upholstery company in Alberta ( Canada) so hubs is there now having the front seats and dinette re-done. The couch is OK and just needed minor stitching repair done, about 4 Inches at a seam in the centre where the 2 sides meet. I picked a different colour since I had the opportunity so will re- do the couch I the fall or next year.
Removed the sofa sleeper yesterday out of our Renegade Verona. Theater seating arrives tomorrow. Fairly easy to remove there were only 4 screws that held the sofa to the floor. It came apart in two pieces but I took out the seat/bed part to get it through the door easier. Furniture company said they will install the new theater seats for us.
I was impressed on how calm and polite you were during the frustrating upgrade. I started to worry that maybe you were super-humans. Thanks for the honest confession. I don’t feel so bad now.
19:10 “That’s some pretty cool shit right there”!! Love it..😆😆😆that’s a great job for you to tackle. Not only that, but even more important, WE can do this stuff…paying someone else is all fine and dandy but if people would step back and analyze what they are about to do and push through the fear….we can do it. Don’t be afraid of nuts, bolts, and you’ll be amazed at what you are capable of! That’s what I got out of this….and Phil’s change of tone on occasion..😆😆
Just wanted to say thank you. We were going to buy a new rv to upgrade. But watching you doo we have decided to upgrade the one we already have thank you.
Wow, you guys, what a job! My back hurts just from watching you move those chairs. You should be very pleased with a job well done. FYI, for future reference, I’ve found when using a throw rug as a skid for something like that, if you turn the rug upside-down, the piece of furniture will slide along the floor much more easily.
I have not replaced my furniture on my 11 year old Itaska but I will say that when we bought it, it came with the deluxe vinyl which feels like leather. So far so good.
I just love you peeps! You are by far my favorite RV couple on the web. I am a veteran and in your generation, so that probably helps, hee hee. I also enjoy the little sidebars and quips you guys do, especially the stories of when you first started. This is illistrated in this video with the quip telling of not being able to take either hand off of the steering wheel, even to get a sip of beverage, until you stopped, like for a red light. That had me lol. I can sooo relate!
I loved watching your teamwork! It's a real testament to your marriage when you can take on challenges like that and make it through together. You guys are just awesome! Happy travels!
Honest video showing the "struggle" that making updates can bring. Good to know about the local shop in MS is people that know what their doing and will get you back down the road in good shape. Great teamwork sticking with the seat and dinette swap together and making it happen. Beat Army!!!!
We had our two captains chairs recovered, swapped out our couch/bed with electric 3 seat recliners, removed dinette seats and went with regular chairs top open up the space. Very happy with everything. I really like your captain chairs with seat belts built in and adjustable arm rests.
We bought our Tiffin 34TGA when it was 5 years old and we suspect that previous owners had already replaced the covers because only one chair was peeling. We replaced it. Or we are lucky and have a good batch from fllexsteeel. No peeling on any of our furniture.
We were just in Red Bay for the last 2 weeks in May. The guys in Bay 8 were great! Thanks Ethan & Josh! "Porkchop" swapped out our old 120 volt TV splitters whith the new 12 volt ones. No more fan needed!!! Nice and cool. The folks in and around Red Bay are great, but bring your barrel of patience! Tiffin supplied covers for our flaking captains chairs. We like those. We chucked the worn out recliner and put in a dresser from IKEA for our 2015 33aa. Brendan & Lena
We too found Precision RV customer service to be wonderful. After Gerard damaged the side of our coach during an awning repair, they sent us to Precision for a free repair. The were quick and did a fantastic job.
2013 Phaeton all chairs and couches peeled. Got all new material free from Tiffin and had capt chairs and couches recovered. Cost was $1500 labor for everything. Sold the phaeton 1 month later and the new upholstery was the closer. Made up the $1500 in the added value and price we sold the coach for.
There is a place in I believe in Tennessee that sells used rv parts. They are like a auto wreckers. The video I seen it looks like a couple hundred acres of units in there being dismantled. When flexsteel built furniture and captain chairs fit properly. It's to bad flexsteel stopped making rv furniture.
Great upgrades! Yes we have swapped RV recliners to house recliners! Yes we upgraded RV couch from factory to another RV couch made better and better coverings!
Nice job and the outcome looks great! I did want a clarification about the material of the new furniture. You kept saying "fabric" are the new pieces covered with vinyl or cloth?
We swapped out all of our original furniture with Lambright Custom furniture. We got it from Lambright’s warehouse which is South of Shipshewana, In. Love, love, love it. We got two theater seating units and two recliners and a walnut table. Highly recommend Lambright.
Hey guys instead of replacing the recliner you may want to consider installing a desk in it's place. We bought our 33AA used and the previous owner had installed a small desk which may have been done at Tiffin because it looks like original equipment, perfect match. We have a nice folding wood and fabric chair we use with it. We can leave our laptop set up at the printer fits in the over head cabinet with room for office supplies.
The new chairs and dinette look great and you guys did a great job of installing them, it definitely looked like it was very hard and time consuming. Great job and thanks for sharing. I also love that you guys help vets. Thanks
Like the new seats only concern I would question is the 4 bolts holding you and the seat in an accident. The seat belt mounted to the wall is to take that load. Please check with someone and on that. Like watching your videos
We have a 2015 Phaeton 40QBH and had the same problem with peeling furniture. We had everything recovered with high quality material last year. We used Waylon Burroghs and he did a fabulous job. He took a couple of pieces at a time so we weren’t sitting on the floor and covered both captains chairs, recliner and couch in just about a weeks time while we were in Red Bay. He is booked out about 3 months and will need to order material. So you will need to plan ahead as we did. Again he used to build furniture for tiffin and does a fabulous job!
We have been looking at RVs and seen a lot of used with this issue. Good to see the solution in action! We are wondering about the 3 hour window at Tiffin? Perhaps we will see you on the road Someday!
We swapped out our 3 person recliner couch, and replaced it with a single lift recliner. Then with the extra space we put in a love seat. We purchased the replacement from Lazy Boy. Life time warranty on the mechanism and frame. The electrical has a 5 years warranty. Nicer colors and I think abit better in the comfort department.
Another great video, nice teamwork. Must say I Love Red Bay area, nice people. Year's ago I had a Allego Bus 🚌, stopped by for small repair items. Always was treated like we were family.
Glad to see you back. Hawaii trip, what a wonderful thing! We developed a tear in the couch (cheap material), so I decided to remove it and the love seat. I remove them all by myself though. Unscrewed as much as I could and then cut the frame to separate the back from the seat. Built bunk beds and a dinette from scratch to serve the family better. Thinking about removing the recliner and building a Murphy bed in its place. and have to decided whether to replace or recover the captain chairs. Thanks for your ideas.
If you are willing, can you let us know what work you had done at Tiffin vs. work done at Precision RV? I have a Tiffin RED and am trying to understand what work to have done at Tiffin and what work to have done at other Companies. We took your suggestion and had Nichols Customs (Trevor) make us custom rugs for front of the RV and steps and are very happy. And for for its worth, my brother recently bought a Newmar Kountry Star and his uphosltery was peeling months after he bought it. It was a a pain but fortunately, Newmar worked with him to replace furniture. Thanks for what you do.
We went in to the express bay with a list of minor things to be repaired...passenger chair wire connected, wall in bedroom was loose, door awning was loose, bathroom door out of alignment, and other small items. Precision repaired what the express couldn't in the 3 - 4 hours we were in the bay......door light, door actuator, back flow valve under bathroom sink.
Great episode 😎 We are waiting for all new furniture for our Grand Design Reflection 337RLS in two days🎊🎉 Two new individual recliners and a recliner loveseat...getting rid of sleeper sofa. We can't wait! You guys did a great job getting everything installed. We hope ours is as easy as yours minus the base plate issue😁 You guys always make the RV maintenance stuff look easy. Safe travels😎🌻🌼
My back was screaming in pain just watching both of you bending and lifting and struggling with that heavy furniture. Once you injury your back you will never be the same ever. Please be careful!
Great job folks , yall work so well together. I'm glad to see yall had an excellent supervisor there making sure yall did it right and she looked like she approved.
I haven't swapped out my furniture but the previous owner of my rig did. They put in 2 recliners where the couch used to be and I want to go back to the original couch. Of course the original couch is long gone and the place that made it is no longer making stuff for individuals, just OEMs. So if anybody is interested in two Euro recliners that are just about new in close to the same colors that you guys have please let me know. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
"My Inner 12 year old Girl", quote of the year right there. Our captains chairs are still in great shape even after more than 15 years, but we have a Euro Recliner that has started to peel. I am finding that a replacement may be less expensive than a recover. Also, thanks for the tip on Precision RV, I am compiling a list of reputable RV repair/maintenance facilities that I can pull from when I need some help.
We live North of Birmingham and our hunting club is just south of Red Bay. Nothing is ever easy when it comes to the RV. Our couch in our 2017 5th wheel just started to peel. I have a cover on it right now but we will replace it one day. I (Kelley) will probably go to IKEA. They have some great smaller options.
We have 2011 Serrano that needs the same changes y'all just made. I hoping we can find as good a deal as you did somewhere in the Houston Tx area. Really love Stacy's facial and verbal expressions. You guys are awesome.
We changed out the sofa two weeks after we got the coach. A friend needed a hide a bed and we hooked her up. We replaced it with two electric recliners and a center table. The chairs are fabric but the colors blend together perfectly and we are happy. The remainder of the furniture has not peeled yet but I know soon. Thank you or this video.
Back to the Checklist my Navy brother! My wife ripped her arm helping me put our movable recliner in. Going in and out of the door is a bear. Safe travels!
There is a business in Dubuque Iowa that will recover the seats and booth and can often do it all in one day for you. They have the patterns and know about the bad material used in the past. Be safe.
Great video!!! We bought a new RV recliner loveseat thinking to put replace our jackknive sofa on our slide well although it fit the space the loveseat sat much higher on the slide then expected. We ended up removing our dinette booth and putting the recliner loveseat there. We copied "I'm not lost I'm RVing" and made our jaceknive sofa into a futon. We use wooden TV trays for our table @ this time.
Dirt track racing is always fun to watch… bring safety glasses or goggles and be prepared to take a shower afterwards. What a great harvest host spot. The new furniture looks great. I have to be honest watching you both take out and put in all of that I was saying to myself gee I swear more than those two sailors and I’m just watching it. 😀. Oh and I’m with you Phil if a rat snake went across my shoulder I would channeling my inner 12 year girl. 😂. Great video as usual
We lived there in 80s out by the dairy farm on route 58 . Dairy farm was Fred Edder farms. We had 10 acres. Could u use a drone to see all area. U brought tears when u said the area of Roul Retreat,VA.
We replaced our jack knife sofa with two recliners from Lowes Home Improvement of all places. They are leather and a good match to the rest of the furniture. Good luck with your new chairs and dinette. If you have another problem, it might be easier to trade Motorhomes. 😁
Enjoyed that video a lot. We're looking at possible upgrades and our key boob lock hasn't ever worked. I'm now betting it's the same problem you had. Thanks and safe travels.
Good job guys. Bunkhouse replaced my buddies captains chairs with Zephyr seats. My 15 QBA furniture was peeling also. Took Tiffin 5 months to get new skins sent out for replacement. But at least they honored it on a 6 year old coach. I doubt Entegra would do that Phil 😉.
We have a 2016 Winnebago and the seats are doing the same thing as yours. We’d love to replace the fabric or replace the seats like you did but just haven’t spent the time to research it. During your project I love watching gizmo. He looked a little concerned about what you guys were doing.
Hi Phil and Stacey, did they recommend any treatments for the material, such as 303 plastic and vinyl protectant? Or some particular leather/vinyl protectant? Do let us know. God bless!
I luv you guys - even with stress, and yes this was a stressor - you guys did awesome!!!! This would be frank and I - with a few more "words" to each other. But hugs at the end
12:45 Cerntral: Even though I never had a drver, nice video. This does show how frustrating & difficult RV repairs are. You should name this video "whole lotta booty. Bless you both.
Glad you both were able to persevere and find a solution to the captain problem. I too am planning to switch to a rotating base in my Thor Majestic. Very little information out there on where to get them, and whether the current sliding chair will be compatible with the new base. Wish me luck!
Very good info. We are having the same problems with our captain chairs, recliner and the couch and thought of Bunkhouse when in Red bay later this summer. Now we just have to take a loan out for the fuel and new furniture :D. Stay safe.
My understanding is the employees new the material that flexsteel was using was flawed not sure if the company was going out of business or what but apparently employees bought the company and change the inferior material to this new one and it's getting Great Waves so you did a good job Phil
Curious - any particular reason you decided to buy new furniture rather than having it reupholstered? And, they remove and reinstall everything at Bauer RV Upholstery In Wisconsin? Good job on what you two did.
I have read about the over 10 yrs old and a lot of shop will not work on them. Mine is a 2000 Safari with 42k on it and would like to upgrade the knife couch. Good video and smooth travels.
PUT IN A HIGH GRADE 8" OR MORE GRADE/APPROCH TO THE PAD ... AND HAVE SOMETHING IN THE CONCRETE SUCH AS BRISHED, CRUSHED ROCK ETC. FOR EXTRA GRIP. I was surprised how much the coach bounced when coming off of it ... even gently ... I bet the whole rig weighs over 3 or 4 thousand pounds (:-)
I was going to say you made it look easy, but then when you said 5 hours and lots of irritation later, great job, well done! The dog is so cute! Great video!>Sue
I have a 2019 Phaeton with the exact same chairs and cloth and mine are starting to split. This has been one of the problems with this furniture. Hopefully these new chairs cost you a little longer than the last ones.
Thanks for showing the struggle. It makes me feel better about my wife and I doing projects together.
Glad to help. LOL
You can sure tell you were both in the Navy. Survivalists like a ship adrift at sea. Well done work done togetherness!💞
Maybe a hint. When sliding on a carpet or rug. Turn the rug upside the carpet goes down the rubber up. Slides better on the floor and piece stats better on the rubber.
Giz is such a great supervisor! 🐾🐾❤️

I picked a different colour since I had the opportunity so will re- do the couch I the fall or next year.
Gizmo has the right idea - he's just going to sit back to the side and watch all the excitement going on.
Our sleeper sofa is next.
I was impressed on how calm and polite you were during the frustrating upgrade. I started to worry that maybe you were super-humans. Thanks for the honest confession. I don’t feel so bad now.
LOL....Stacy is a great editor.
Spot on!!! Stacy is a great editor....;)
My back is hurting worse just watching y'all strain with the chairs. Glad it worked out in the end.
Just wanted to say thank you. We were going to buy a new rv to upgrade. But watching you doo we have decided to upgrade the one we already have thank you.
Love the video, it’s real life folks and you are bringing it to us. Love your little doggie also, mom can I help somehow!!
Woohoo! 7 weeks of fun, relaxation, family and Hawaii. So glad you all took time for you two.
Us too!
Nice to see a couple that works together well. My husband and I not so much.
I'm not an RV'er, but I love RVing vicariously through you!
Thanks, Holly B!!!
Next time turn the rug over to the carpet side to move the furniture easier.
Yes I did swapped both our recliner and couch. The couch we swapped with a double recliner that look like looks like a love seat.
Wow, what a job! The new seats look fantastic. I love how your dog is watching the whole process like “what the heck are they doing now!? 😀
We had our two captains chairs recovered, swapped out our couch/bed with electric 3 seat recliners, removed dinette seats and went with regular chairs top open up the space. Very happy with everything. I really like your captain chairs with seat belts built in and adjustable arm rests.
Love the 🐶 supervisor!!! 💪💪. Congrats.
You go guys!!! I would have been back with Gizmo I'm a puddle of blubber.
We bought our Tiffin 34TGA when it was 5 years old and we suspect that previous owners had already replaced the covers because only one chair was peeling. We replaced it. Or we are lucky and have a good batch from fllexsteeel. No peeling on any of our furniture.
Both of you are so strong and determined. I could tell you were struggling but you stuck with it and got it done. Hooray for teamwork!
We were just in Red Bay for the last 2 weeks in May. The guys in Bay 8 were great! Thanks Ethan & Josh! "Porkchop"
swapped out our old 120 volt TV splitters whith the new 12 volt ones.
Thanks so much for making our mugs for us! They live in our rig, Coco, and there is never a morning we don’t use them.
You are so welcome!

Great job. Nice team work. Bet the out takes are hilarious 😂.
PT takes a whole lot of different meaning after retirement. I’m tired too. Great teamwork.
Loved this video. So many people are having this same problem. Good team work!
Thanks so much!
Our new travel trailer is only six months old, but based on what I just saw - we will sell it before I change/replace furniture. You did a great job!

We swapped out for residential furniture. Love it!
Great upgrades! Yes we have swapped RV recliners to house recliners! Yes we upgraded RV couch from factory to another RV couch made better and better coverings!
Good stuff! Thanks for bringing us along!
Nice job and the outcome looks great! I did want a clarification about the material of the new furniture. You kept saying "fabric" are the new pieces covered with vinyl or cloth?
It is leather, sorry.
Too late.....the Navy has already made my back a mess. We were fine the next day.....heat pad and motrin to the rescue.
Great job folks , yall work so well together. I'm glad to see yall had an excellent supervisor there making sure yall did it right and she looked like she approved.
Thanks 👍
Yeah, those look heavy. We had to replace our washer. It was about 140 pds. My husband and I were struggling. We are hoping the fridge never goes out.
We were just at the Bunkhouse in early April and swapped in a dual theater-seat sofa for the stock hide-a-bed couch. Loving it!
I haven't swapped out my furniture but the previous owner of my rig did. They put in 2 recliners where the couch used to be and I want to go back to the original couch. Man what a tough install. You guys did a great job. The seats look great.
You guys work pretty good together.
I stayed at a Harvest Host race track on my way back from NRVTA. It was a very unique experience. 😆
Woodstown nj yall were right down the road from me!! I've been waiting to see if your ever up this way and finally it happened. Love your videos!
You two are NOT lazy! Wow, that was quite a bit of work, but it sure looks great.
We lived there in 80s out by the dairy farm on route 58 . Dairy farm was Fred Edder farms. We had 10 acres. Could u use a drone to see all area. U brought tears when u said the area of Roul Retreat,VA.
Great job you two, everything looks perfect. Not gonna lie, I would have sat down in the middle of the floor and cried
Stacy is a great editor! LOL
We replaced our peeling reclining loveseat with 2 lazy boy recliners. No issues.
Great job you two. We can see the struggle is/was real but you persevered and got it done, proud of you 👍🏻🖖🏻😘🙏🏻
Very good info. We are having the same problems with our captain chairs, recliner and the couch and thought of Bunkhouse when in Red bay later this summer. Now we just have to take a loan out for the fuel and new furniture :D. Stay safe.
Right!!!
My understanding is the employees new the material that flexsteel was using was flawed not sure if the company was going out of business or what but apparently employees bought the company and change the inferior material to this new one and it's getting Great Waves so you did a good job Phil
Just changed a recliner and couch in our 2005 open road. I’m thinking about the captain chairs soon
Wondering if it would have been easier to mount the base, then set the seat on to the base? ( only one thing to line up instead of 4??)
We researched and shopped for 2 years before finally finding our MH, We passed on several Tiffins because of the peeling issue.
Curious - any particular reason you decided to buy new furniture rather than having it reupholstered? And, they remove and reinstall everything at Bauer RV Upholstery In Wisconsin? Good job on what you two did.
Phil do you have air brakes for towing? We just got a new Allegro 37BA, and I wondered it if was worth it. Also had a 33AL, but lost it in a fire.
Sorry to hear that. We have the Air Force One brake system.
I put black Electrical Tape around my Plug Awesome Video
I have read about the over 10 yrs old and a lot of shop will not work on them. Mine is a 2000 Safari with 42k on it and would like to upgrade the knife couch. Good video and smooth travels.
Red Bay has a bunch of shops that will work on any year and brand of RV.
Phil is a rock.
Not sure how to take that? LOL
Love this sort of content Love the furniture upgrade I’m new to your channel so need to do some catching up🔥 new subscribers here 👍
i missed the video when you put in tile. looks nice.
We didn't add the tile. We did add vinyl flooring in the bedroom last year.
I was going to say you made it look easy, but then when you said 5 hours and lots of irritation later, great job, well done! The dog is so cute! Great video!>Sue
What a Pain in Da Okole!! Great job! Read about a good Flexsteel RV furniture repair biz. Bauer RV Upholstery Dubuque Iowa. Thx!
I have a 2019 Phaeton with the exact same chairs and cloth and mine are starting to split. This has been one of the problems with this furniture. Hopefully these new chairs cost you a little longer than the last ones.
