    I live about 15 minutes from the factory in Cleveland in the beginning of the video and can confirm that gunshots are completely normal to hear regardless what time of day it is lmao. Nothing creepy at all for us, just a normal day in Cleveland. The only things you'll find in abandoned buildings are homeless people, drug addicts, and raccoons. And sometimes homeless drug addicted raccoons.

    • @sh4rkb4it
      @sh4rkb4it 6 месяцев назад +13

      yep. homeless people are some of the most vulnerable and least protected people in our society. homeless women in particular have the extra threat of being sexually assaulted, and they have even less avenues to seek justice than a woman with more privileges. no one cares about homeless people, no one sees them as human. it’s sickening. they deserve compassion and empathy.

    Gotta say, the farmhouse situation is more common than you think. There are a lot of older people who refuse to leave their homes, despite no longer being able to keep them up. The properties become more and more run down to the point of looking abandoned. My own uncle lived that way during the last years of his life. He kept saying he was going to restore the house, but no progress was ever made. He slept on the couch in the living room with a hot plate and microwave on a side table. The shower was broken, and the only running water he had was from the bathroom sink, which is also where he did his laundry. The really sad thing is, he didn't have to live that way. When he died, we learned how much money he had...

    As someone who squatted difficult buildings for about 8 years, I can confirm squatters will be agressive to outsiders... but not because they are inherently agressive or dangerous. Its a tactic used to create public fear, thus keeping wandering teens and vandals from welcoming themselves in. We used this method most notably under the freeways in Toronto. I remember us scaring a kid who was filming us, he tried to run when we approached him but fell. He was a nervous wreck, so we helped him up, took him back to camp and cleaned him up. He was thankful and apologetic... and after revealing why we did it, he promised to tell his friends a crazy story about us. It was weirdly heart warming.

      In some countries, people can fire a document to the government to get the ownership of abandoned buildings and properties nobody else wants for free. I have seen this in far east Russia, where my in-laws live.
      There are many abandoned villages and small towns and saw people renovating an old apartment building in the middle of nowhere. The downsides are that it's very remote and no electricity or running water. But there are plenty of natural, clean water sources free of pollutants and Diesel for a generator is inexpensive. Internet and cellular services work via satellite. People can live self sustained and it prevents from buildings falling apart or become criminal hideouts.
      I don't live in the U.S., so i don't know if there are similar regulations.

    • @thebobbalo1
      @thebobbalo1 Год назад +65

      They *do* know it'll scare them, but it's not for any sort of humorous purpose. They just wanna be left alone, for all they know it could be police or someone who's ACTUALLY violent. It's to make intruders leave as fast as possible and not come back.
      I spent a year squatting about half a decade ago and had encounters with explorers/junkies/whoever poking around the vacant high-rise I was crashing in.

    These urban explorers walk that fine line between courageous and stupid. There are so many ways a person could be injured in an old, decrepid building. When something scares them and they run for it, I wonder how many can't find the way out - UGH!! Nightmare fuel! That being said, I have so much compassion for the homeless people who choose such a creepy, old, abandoned, unsafe building as a place to live

    That last place was obviously under renovation and not at all abandoned. He should have recognized that and backed out immediately, it's even got working lights as you can tell by that last shot where the guy upstairs yells, that isn't lit by his camera or you'd see shadows cast by it, it's lit from ceiling lamps. The guy yelling might have been the homeowner just asleep in his bed after a long day of fixing his house and woken up by this guys trespassing. That's not kosher by any urban explorer rules.
