    I live about 15 minutes from the factory in Cleveland in the beginning of the video and can confirm that gunshots are completely normal to hear regardless what time of day it is lmao. Nothing creepy at all for us, just a normal day in Cleveland. The only things you'll find in abandoned buildings are homeless people, drug addicts, and raccoons. And sometimes homeless drug addicted raccoons.

    I can understand why people living in these places react aggressively. I would be terrified if I found shelter in some abandoned place and suddenly heard people walking and rummaging around other rooms. Homeless people are at a high risks of becoming targets of violence.

    • @sh4rkb4it
      @sh4rkb4it 2 месяца назад +3

      yep. homeless people are some of the most vulnerable and least protected people in our society. homeless women in particular have the extra threat of being sexually assaulted, and they have even less avenues to seek justice than a woman with more privileges. no one cares about homeless people, no one sees them as human. it’s sickening. they deserve compassion and empathy.

    • @75flash
      @75flash Месяц назад +42

      Absolutely. People don’t squat in these places hoping to be found by an explorer, they are trying to find safe shelter away from strangers. Yep from the no. Of videos of similar content i have watched i have also got to know that most of them have a little script that these people do to make the video look scary also authentic and you can also imagine if you go to sucha place then any1 living there will call you out and will ask what u doin ? Or plz go away and something, nobody stays silent 😶 and let you do anything in their place. So yeah more than half of these vids have some stuff that they do themselves(script/fake).

    As someone who squatted difficult buildings for about 8 years, I can confirm squatters will be agressive to outsiders... but not because they are inherently agressive or dangerous. Its a tactic used to create public fear, thus keeping wandering teens and vandals from welcoming themselves in. We used this method most notably under the freeways in Toronto. I remember us scaring a kid who was filming us, he tried to run when we approached him but fell. He was a nervous wreck, so we helped him up, took him back to camp and cleaned him up. He was thankful and apologetic... and after revealing why we did it, he promised to tell his friends a crazy story about us. It was weirdly heart warming.

The properties become more and more run down to the point of looking abandoned. My own uncle lived that way during the last years of his life. He kept saying he was going to restore the house, but no progress was ever made. He slept on the couch in the living room with a hot plate and microwave on a side table. The shower was broken, and the only running water he had was from the bathroom sink, which is also where he did his laundry. The really sad thing is, he didn't have to live that way. In some countries, people can fire a document to the government to get the ownership of abandoned buildings and properties nobody else wants for free. I have seen this in far east Russia, where my in-laws live.
      There are many abandoned villages and small towns and saw people renovating an old apartment building in the middle of nowhere. The downsides are that it's very remote and no electricity or running water. But there are plenty of natural, clean water sources free of pollutants and Diesel for a generator is inexpensive. Internet and cellular services work via satellite. People can live self sustained and it prevents from buildings falling apart or become criminal hideouts.

      Oh yeah, another factor for the recession and uptick in homelessness was the moving of manufacturing overseas, lot of industrial areas lost most of their business and people were laid off in huge waves. They very, very much can resemble 'monsters out of a creepy pasta', though, is the issue. The fucker in the factory in this very video for a very obvious example, but even that aside, drug addicts can be just as easily terrifiying as any monster.

    • @DeathBlocks

      The way he describes the reason for their actions is really good. They are probably also scared when someone shows up, they are in more danger than the average person and their home is something they need to defend and not rely on the law so I totally get why they would get aggressive even if they don't mean to go towards violence.
      I was wondering while watching the first video if one of these explorers would be less likely to be confronted if they announced their presence when they enter and say something like "I don't mean no harm, I am just looking around, if I am not welcome I will leave". I can imagine some people wouldn't confront if they weren't caught off guard.

      @@papapalps2415 I'd like to see you try to live on the street for multiple years and keep all your wits intact. Every single person you meet can be dangerous, not just homeless people. @@v_doll This isn't an actual response, to clarify. Yes, everybody you meet 'can', theoretically, be dangerous, but homeless people will very much disproportionately be more so. Nor is homelessness a problem that the government can realistically solve, or at least, not with poor platitudes like 'affordable housing'.

    I've been both a homeless squatter and an urban explorer at varying stages of my life and will attest it can be scary when a stranger shows up at my squat, though mostly because I'm worried it's the cops lol. I would usually announce myself in both situations when in places and thought someone else might be there, but maybe that's just cuz I've been a squatter too. Don't want to scare anyone who might already be there.

      I was thinking announcing yourself would prevent more confrontations than it would cause. If someone came in and said something like "I don't mean any harm, just looking around and will leave if I am not welcome" I can see how that prevents problems. Worst thing is alerting the person to your presence right? Walking around a pitch black building with a huge light is doing pretty much the same thing anyway.

      I used to wonder the same thing actually, because there is an abandoned building I had been to when I was little (when it wasn’t abandoned) and that same place turned up in an urbex video only 7 years after being abandoned, completely destroyed.
      However, as a soon-to-be building inspector, what I am learning so far is without maintenance, decay is a structures fate. Also, the lack of heating and cooling creates unstable temperatures in the building which cause the materials used to deteriorate, where as a building kept at a steady temperature wouldn’t have those issues as quickly.
      Every single building and structure is in a battle with the natural elements (wind, fire, ice, plants, fungi, mold, snow, gravity, etc.). Those things are always fighting against buildings day and night. That’s exactly why we have inspectors, maintenance people, engineers, etc. However, without those things, our man-made creation actually proves itself to be very weak. The materials we create have an expiration date and need constant tending to to stay integral.

Yes it would be super cool, nice scary vibe to explore with some friends but even with friends it would need to be something mature, no childish pranks and a plan for an escape route would need to be made.
