IKR, I was so scared for Jared; felt the tension of being trapped and trying to stay hidden as if I were right there with him, then he got caught. But he did his best to hide his fear and deflect the situation by occasionally laughing at the man's far too casual threats, even when he had to sit in his car. It felt like a short horror film, to be honest, complete with a twist in the epilogue. Thank God those other two kids were okay.
It would make sense for a man to say that in defense of his own property, to scare intruders. But the vigilante guy is not allowed to handcuff someone without being an officer, nor just shoot without probable cause. What's creepy is the guy acts like a disgraced 'pretend' soldier in uniform just waiting for someone to investigate the place.
That boobytrapped staircase is fucking evil and intended to kill someone... no doubt that is scary af. The glass on the staircase also was probably part of the trap too.
@@Lalou971. This is just an assumption so take it with a grain of salt, but I’m guessing that somebody was using the house as a shelter from time to time and they were extremely paranoid. The broken glass could be used to make footsteps more audible as walking on glass does make quite some sound. And the trap, well, that one is self-explanatory. But I don’t think that the glass is supposed to be a distraction so the person doesn’t see the trap, but as some sort of an alarm system so the squatter living there could hear if somebody goes up the stairs. But who knows.
I'm certain that the glas on the steps was placed deliberately so that an intruder would prefer to take a large step onto the third step, activating the trip-wire while being focused on the glas.
I literally cannot believe the first story is real. How in the fuck is something like that allowed? a civilian who owns handcuffs and for some reason patrols an abandoned factory with a loaded shotgun, telling cops straight up that he is going to go shoot two kids without getting arrested. Holy shit.
pretty sure a civilian can't put handcuffs on someone like that. its no different from someone playing cop and pulling someone over for speeding. yeah they might have been speeding, but you're not a cop and so you still can't do it.
Wtf that first dude is fuckin scary, beyond scary "Put the handcuff?!" while carrying a gun, and get in the car?! I would shit myself thinking i would get executed
yea no shit. sounded like a legit threat. even if it was a type of buck shot rock salt or pellets don't matter. he's still fukn shooting people n finds it funny. that guy is not right. some people should not own guns period.
I would have refused to put on the handcuffs, like I don’t know if you’re the landowner or not you could just be some crazy person. Yeah I’m not supposed to be there but nah I ain’t trusting my life to you especially the way he was talking, also I feel like the guy making that kid out the handcuffs on would be considered false imprisonment. Like I said I get that kid is no supposed to be there and he could have avoided the situation by just not going to that place, but the owner should have handled that better and just seems like a psycho who just wants to shoot people. Like I said the way he was talking i definitely would have refused to put on the handcuffs and I would have called the cops on myself because I would be scared of the situation and be in fear for my life. Plus I wouldn’t have stopped recording either so I would have gotten everything on video just in case the owner got violent when the video stopped

Haha same, looking back we were in such dodgy places as teenagers. I'll always remember finding an old farmhouse maybe around 2004, we went upstairs and there were lit candles along with a scales and loads of small plastic bags. Next of all we hear in the thickest Dublin accent, get the feck out now 😂 We ran and laughed and ran some more, looking back we were idiots 😂
The poor guy hiding under the bed was surely a terrified squatter. Imagine thinking you're on your own in a nice dry spot and suddenly two dudes and a dog show up unannounced.
I am the OWNER of an abandoned building and would NEVER consider using deadly force on someone inside it at all, let alone simply exploring it. Usually the people exploring are way more afriad of you (the owner) than you are of them.
@@Ookkonen1 exactly! I'm not sure how many urban explorers have gone into the place on my property, but nothing major is broken and the only person who's vandalized the place is Mother Nature. I don't keep track of anything that's stolen because I could care less. The only thing that gives me the creeps is the fact that someone is trespassing, but the no trespassing signs I've nailed to the abandoned house keep most people away. I'm an urban explorer as well, and have made it a point (like most urban explorers) to treat an abandoned place as if someone was still living there.
Regarding the abandoned factory: Kenney “Ken” Lee Thomas, 64, who once operated the TreatCo plant at 2300 N. Broadway, is scheduled for sentencing Aug. 28. Jurors reached the guilty verdicts late Thursday morning after deliberating for around three hours, said Dan Dillon, a spokesman for the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. Thomas shot the teens, 17 and 19, with a 12-gauge shotgun around 10:30 p.m. April 2, 2021, immediately after they entered his property through a hole in a chain-link fence. The teens told police they wanted to explore the fire-damaged plant, which they thought was abandoned, according to an affidavit released by the court. The property has been the site of at least three fires since 2011. Prosecutors contended Thomas, fed up with trespassers, laid in wait for the teens after he spotted them headed toward the property and fired six shots without warning, hitting one in an arm and leg and the other on his leg, buttocks and arm. Court records say he even pointed out the teens to a police officer who was at the property for an unrelated trespassing report, telling the cop: “I’ll go get my shotgun, rustle you up two more” and “Tell the hospital tonight you’ll have some with buckshot.” Thomas, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, argued before his trial that he shouldn’t be prosecuted because the teens were trespassing and he was scared they might have a weapon, court records say. > I’ll go get my shotgun, rustle you up two more I dunno what his sentencing is but he was found guilty. Except wasn't he loaded up with less lethal according to the vid, i suppose still assault with a deadly weapon. Also, castle doctrine or not 'lying in wait' makes it illegal to shoot someone even if they are trespassing.
@@Daphne.08 That's an investigation for later. Two unrelated incidents cannot be prosecuted in the same trial, and whether he owns the building or not would have to be taken up to a civil court, not a criminal court.
Of course he plays the “might have a weapon” card to try justify his attempted murder. Why would explorers of abandoned places be armed at all? All they’re armed with is cameras and flash lights.
Everyone's talking about the first video but the last video, I'm not the only one who found it unsettling that the guy was *literally waiting right there* for someone to trespass his property, in the middle of night no less.
lmao as someone who has been out in the sticks, In a dark forest with a dude that has a bright ass light, trust me you can definitely see him coming from miles away 😂
Yeah, the last video is as fake as can be. There are farms and private roads and places in the middle of nowhere where armed guys do sit in cars all night to confront anyone who comes there, but this particular video was staged and fake. A lot of farms and secluded places in California have guards just sitting along private roads or behind fences to stop any intruders, and in certain counties, intruders never come back and no trace of them is ever found.

If you want people to stay off your property, you don't spray paint "use of deadly force" on a wall. You put up neat, clear, consistent signage all over the place that say "TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT". And you don't shoot people who run, wtf? The justification for using deadly force under a castle doctrine usually relies on the immediate threat of harm, and that threat is NONEXISTENT when someone's running away. Even if this WAS his property, you can still potentially catch a false imprisonment charge for holding a trespasser hostage. This doesn't seem to be the case here, he should absolutely have gotten a felony aggravated false imprisonment charge, given it involved violence and the threat thereof. i can't even understand how there are people who genuinely believe that abandoned property is worth protecting with deadly force just because you legally own the piece of land, these people are just looking for an excuse to kill someone legally
People really do need to educate themselves on self defense in this country. Even cops aren't allowed to shoot people running away unless they can verify they're carrying a deadly weapon. You aren't just allowed to shoot anything that moves on your property, it isn't 1845 anymore.
I imagine as dreary and awful as it sounds, to the cops it was probably something they hear often and they didn't care to look further into it or file more paperwork or pull the guy's records etc. Police always seem to do the absolute bare minimum sadly.
I don't know if it ever says what state this occurs in within the USA, but property owners have the right to protect their property with deadly force. Given the nature of the building, it would not be surprising if gangs, drug runners or other potentially violent/illegal groups tried to utilize the property. If the trespasser (potential opponent) is possibly armed, it is best to meet them whilst armed.

When I was 12 I remember hearing about a guy not far from where I lived, exploring an abandoned house and dying. He fell through the floor into the basement which had several pieces of rebar sticking up out of the concrete that he landed on. It pierced him straight through his stomach and he laid there and died. It was so sad. For reasons like that and others, it's always safest to bring someone with you while exploring.
The urban explorer with the dog might've encountered squatters/homeless people who were afraid that they're police or someone with bad intentions. Not gonna lie, the dog running up to them under the bed is kinda cute, like "oh! People! :3" and then running off. The person under the bed didn't seem like they wanted to attack the two, but not knowing a strangers intention can be pretty stressful.
I had a good chuckle when the narrator said "There was a man HIDING under the bed". I mean, it's not really hiding if your entire butt isn't even under the bed.

Yeah I get that but the dude has to put up signs or something saying “Trespassers will be shot” not some stupid spray paint that people think were some kids messing around.
That's in Kansas? Didn't realize Kansas was a stand your ground state. I'm from the South so I can tell you unless the kids presented an immediate deadly threat where it was necessary for the owner to defend himself with force this law doesn't apply. Mere trespassing would never apply. The kids would have to have a deadly weapon or ganged up on the dude beating him or something like that. The fact that he told the cops he was going to shoot them for trespassing proves the act of shooting them does not fall under the stand your ground law. He could have hit an artery or anything like that & someone could have died.
@@edgybarbie77 I live in Kansas and literally nothing that you said is true under the castle doctrine. People on your property unannounced are always a potential threat. In his case it went down smoothly, but in hundreds of other cases it ended in death and sometimes in never to be found corpses.
In the last one they reacted as bad as they could. Like, the land owner literally invited them to leave, there was no need to stay quiet and start running as if you're hiding something. All they had to do was to calmly speak themselves up and tell that they were going to leave
this is exactly what I thought. it was an honest mistake, had they stood there cool and talked to the owner and said "hey man we were told about this (whatever they were looking for) and they told us it was on public property back in this area I am certain it would have been a lot less of an issue. I’m all for castle doctrine too, and the man in the first story should have at least made it clear that he did not want trespassers in or around the factory. Lots of people are trying to defend him, but as someone in the US who lives in a state where it's legal to shoot trespassers, he still admitted to three felonies during the recording. Assault with a deadly weapon, Attempted Murder, Castle Doctrine does not apply if someone is running away (And actually there's another felony for shooting someone in the back), False imprisonment, Kidnapping, to name a few. Regarding the abandoned factory:
Kenney “Ken” Lee Thomas, 64, who once operated the TreatCo plant at 2300 N.
Court records say he even pointed out the teens to a police officer who was at the property for an unrelated trespassing report, telling the cop: “I’ll go get my shotgun, rustle you up two more” and “Tell the hospital tonight you’ll have some with buckshot.”
Thomas, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, argued before his trial that he shouldn’t be prosecuted because the teens were trespassing and he was scared they might have a weapon, court records say.

The amount of absolute frickin psychopaths defending that first guy is ridiculous. What the hell is wrong with this world
They half hear some law about defence or ownership protection and run with it. Either that or they buy into the power fanasty of being allowed to do X because the law/the world supposly allows you to act like the guy in the first vid.
Having a dog with you for stuff like this is brilliant. Same for the creepy camping encounters. They have great sense of smell and hearing, and they can pose a physical threat to anyone intending to do harm. Although I’d prefer a Doberman or a Rottweiler to the little dog in this video lol.

I live near Wichita and can confirm the first video is 100% real. Ken Thomas was convicted of two counts of aggravated battery for shooting the two teens (they didn’t die, he used pellets) and is currently living under probation, which if he doesn’t adhere, then he goes to prison. I figured “stand your ground” would apply here since it was his property but the jury didn’t rule that way. For the record, the factory was his & the property was as well but it had been abandoned years ago. Chilling stuff 😅
He was shooting threat or no threat to his person. Hopefully this makes sense. Thankfully he only had pellets in the shotgun but still. He could have hit an artery or anything like that & someone could have died.
@@edgybarbie77 I live in Kansas and literally nothing that you said is true under the castle doctrine. People on your property unannounced are always a potential threat. It's incredibly easy just to not break into other people's property, so as long as the boundary marks are clearly defined by a fence, people who are willingly breaking laws trying to sneak onto the property should be treated as criminals.
@@llcodyj6075 Castle Doctrine only applies to your *home*, not your commercial property. It's right in the name. "My home is my castle." That is where it comes from. Please learn the law.
@@shroomyk nope. Kansas law specifically states castle doctrine extends to home, place of work, or vehicle. Since he's the owner of said property of the business, that falls under that definition. I know other states have removed protections because they'd rather support criminals than their citizens, but fortunately many states still protect their own citizens first
That first clip is the perfect example why you shouldn't go alone to such abandoned buildings, you sometimes just can't tell what is gonna going to occur or you can't even predict mostly, honestly that encounter with that armed man was pretty disturbing to say the least but atleast he made it out safe, I would never go to these places again in my opinion. And hearing about it even more, the man seems like an evil dangerous person.

It was a shotgun, not an assault rifle
@@brokesmoke101 That's your take-away from this?
"It doesn’t get more scary than that"
Yes, it did. When he told the explorer to get into his car. Rule #1 is, never let yourself be taken to a second location. The moment he said to enter the car would have been the moment to run or fight. In his case it went down smoothly, but in hundreds of other cases it ended in death and sometimes in never to be found corpses.
@@smaakjeksThe truth is important. You should learn how to tell it all the time. Liars are despicable.
The guy driving up knew they were there already and, the way the 2 recording were acting made them super suspicious.

@@CertifiedSlamboy You're conflating an awful lot there. A. You don't know who's a threat and who's not. B. There's a whole lot of different laws with a lot of nuance between them, but I'd say it's MUCH better to allow self defense against someone on your property, than punishing someone for protecting themselves and loved ones. I’m all for castle doctrine too, and the man in the first story should have at least made it clear that he did not want trespassers in or around the factory.

tf is wrong with that first guy. how on earth is he going around handcuffing people for trespassing. i dont know the law very well, but i cant see it counting as citizens arrest, especially when hes going around shooting at people for no reason. hes admitting to imprisoning people for essentially nothing. talk about someone who shouldnt have anything that fires more than foam darts. what a psycho
He also admitted to shooting someone.

Being buried alive is my ultimate worst fear. The thought of being fatally trapped while you slowly dehydrate, starve and go so insane that you scratch your fingers down to the bone trying to escape. Nuh uh, no way.
The Ryan Reynolds film Buried (2010) will definitely heighten your fears.
Unfortunately there are some deaths that are extremely unfair, cementing my belief that there is no god. Like for example that guy who was slowly roasted in an industrial oven, or the other that was... ummm "incorporated" into a ship's main engine after being locked inside a maintenance space, or the one doing free-diving who realized mid-jump at 1000 m from the ground that he had forgot to equip his parachute, while he was recording the whole thing. All those are cases I've watched vids about. It's not only that you die against your will, but you're given plenty of time to realize it while at the same time being literally tormented during the whole duration. No one deserves such a fate.
