This video just saved me from driving 200 miles with those two front tires flashing. I would have ruined my 2017 Nissan Frontier. Your fix stopped the problem. Thank You!
Took me a couple tries but that did manage to do it, the only extra step I did was while going in reverse I had to hit the brakes pretty hard but once it jerked it then it stoped flashing. Thank you sir for your help don't know what I would do without RUclips and people like you
Thank you!!! My young child put the truck in 4 wheel drive and I didn’t know and started driving. I was freaking out and this video helped fix the issue. I am very grateful for this content. Thanks again
Thanks for the info, I did the same thing that probably a lot of other people do and I drove a little too fast and four-wheel high. The trick you gave was super simple and save me a trip to the dealer
Thanks man! I just took a 2016 Frontier for a test drive and I was wondering why that was flashing when I switched it from 4WD to 2WD. Good to know that it's normal!
@@desertdudechannel I just inherited this truck too, and I had switched it into 4H because it snowed, and it wouldn't go back to 2D once the roads dried up. The indicator would just flash forever when i tried to change it. I was like my deceased loved one is playing a trick on me from beyond the grave, making me spend how much at the dealer?! I was afraid I blew the whole transfer case!!!!!!
Thank you for your video. I too had the same problem as you and I followed your steps and they were very precise and I got out of four-wheel drive even for a drunk person like me you did very well thank you
Thank you so much man couldn’t figure out how to get it out of the blinking four-wheel-drive and it worked right away what you said to do putting it in reverse thank you
My Xterra does that sometimes. All I do is just drive forward normally for like 10-15 seconds then brake a little for like 4 seconds, let go of the brakes, accelerate for 2 seconds, and after that, it goes back to 2wd.
Hey man thank you! I've been having a little bit of an issue with my 2009 Nissan Armada and this worked! I couldn't pin it down but now your video shows me exactly what I needed to do was give it more gas
The torque is absolutely amazing even from 0-125 mph. It pulls hard in every gear especially 2nd and 3rd gear. I test drove the 3.8 but it’s not better that’s for sure. But if Nissan gives me a free truck to test out I’d be glad to drive it.
4 lo is pretty bad ass in these things and it would be even nicer to have a pro4x with a rear locker. If you get that belly off the ground another couple inches and decent tires it's going to go just about anywhere.
For some reason these seem to be finicky when you treat it like one you have to stop and switch into 4×4 it switches right in and out almost immediately every time if you are moving along at a little speed don't have to be going even 15 for it to work but like you already showed if it flashes a little while it instantly comes out as soon as it hits reverse. I know if you are used to a different style of 4×4 it may be hard to just reach over and flip a switch into 4 while moving but that's exactly what it's designed to do and tells you to do if you haven't read the manual or the little 4×4 operation card in the truck you are supposed to just reach over and flip it on and off on the move as long as you are under 60mph and put it in neutral to go into and out of 4lo.
I had that same issue with mine and reverse fixed it like you said. Mine is a 19' frontier King cab SV 4x4 with the V6 and 25,000mi. Mine seems to not have the mpg like yours it only has trip A and B. Did some of these not have MPG reading?
Yeah I don’t think the sv trim has the mpg reading. I have a 2010 SE king cab 4x4 and it does not have the mpg option unfortunately. I don’t know why they left it off.
Mine does the same, I pull up for a few feet then back up a couple feet and it turns off. My papas Tacoma was the worse about this, I put it in 4HI one day and couldn’t get it out.
Hey Mate. I've got a Nissan Navara d22 , just on highway me 4x4 symbol on dashboard come on and off and on and off....basically a few minutes...now it's stays on. Have you got a clue why it is doing it? Cheers Rob
Flip the switch on and then put it in 4LO. It just locks the back wheels so they don’t spin. You really don’t need it unless 2 or 3 of your wheels are in the air over an obstacle. It’s not really for off-roading besides that. It doesn’t help you go faster or get unstuck in sand or mud.
Hello My name is BaShan Taylor my 2012 nissan pathfinder. I changed the transfer case actuator and sensors. Then the magic D fluid. I not to long before changed the relay fuse, three months four. The 4lo light will not engage into two wheel drive. I need to drive it to get it inspection sticker on the car, with out it bungle in reverse when I try to back up to park, the back wheels. Please do you have idea. Thanks.
What if it makes a rattling noise to try and go back into 2WD. I made the mistake by switching 4Hi to 2WD while driving and now I can’t move when I put it in 2WD.
How fast were you going? It should be fine unless you were going over 60mph. I find it better to switch to 4WD with my foot off the gas pedal even if I’m doing about 20-30 mph
HELP...........I have a 2012 Nissan Navara D40 dual cab ute and my problem is i put it in to drive it changes from 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and thats as far as it will go it wont change to 4th even when I swap to manual change it still wont change gear I'm hoping it needs a oil refill otherwise I dread to think anything else with the gearbox. Any ideas boys that anyone has had that problem themselves.
Hey I feel your pain and I’m afraid of the worst for your Ute. I would first drain the oil out of the transmission and look for metal filing. It sounds like your transmission may be on its last life and may need to be rebuilt by a transmission specialist.
My 2011 frontier feels like it's stuck on 4x4. The light turns off fine but I feel it heavy and I also hear a strange sound when driving. It's driving me crazy man. This happened after I used my 4h for like 20 minutes going home from work after some snow and ice then turned off when I parked home. After a day or so it started making a weird noise and felt tight like when 4h is engaged. I don't know man.
@@desertdudechannel I never have. I bought this vehicle in June 2020. Never had problems with the 4x4 until this weekend. The 4wd light is off but it feels somewhat tight and the noise like when 4x4 is engaged.
Did you try turning it back on to verify it’s still stuck? I’ve had mine get stuck in 4HI but the light never turns off unless the front wheels are unlocked. I would change the oil in the transfer case.
@@desertdudechannel I believe that the noise might be from the drive shaft bearing or something, I don't know. I'm taking it to the shop on Friday. The truck has extended warranty. I hope that they fix it man. I usually take it to my mechanic which honors the warranty. The dealership always wants to charge me for stuff that I don't want and gives me the run around if you know what I mean.
I’m guessing there’s a lot of weight on the transfer case. Maybe that’s not the right word but there’s a big load still on it is released by going backwards to unload it.
If the ATP light is on, this indicates that’s the automatic transmission P(PARK) position will not function and the transfer case is in neutral. When parking, always make sure that the 4WD shift indicator light illuminates and the parking brake is set. Failure to engage the transfer position in 2WD, 4H or 4LO could result in the vehicle moving unexpectedly, resulting in serious personal injury or property damage. Shift the 4WD switch into the 2WD, 4H or 4LO position again to turn off the ATP warning light when the shifter is in the P position and the ATP light is on. (Before shifting the 4WD switch into the 4LO position, move the shifter into the N position once, shift into P again and make sure the ATP light is off.)
Yes that’s normal because the 4x4 makes it hard to turn since the front wheels are acting like the back wheels. I definitely don’t do sharp turns in 4HI or 4LO.
Putting it in neutral or reverse is often the case to solve the problem. Had 2006 R51(?) it happens! It's the way to go on anything with a lever for 4x4 engagement as well, put in reverse and drive 10 feet or so and back to drive
@@desertdudechannel well i did it by the time i exited freeway there was a horrendous smell and the truck was struggling to go forward while turning making a binding sound i was able to take it off 4x4 mode but now idk if ill ever be able to put it back in 4x4

My ATP light wont shut off..... is that something i can fix?
If the ATP light is on, this indicates that’s the automatic transmission P(PARK) position will not function and the transfer case is in neutral.
When parking, always make sure that the 4WD shift indicator light illuminates and the parking brake is set. Failure to engage the transfer position in 2WD, 4H or 4LO could result in the vehicle moving unexpectedly, resulting in serious personal injury or property damage.

(Before shifting the 4WD switch into the 4LO position, move the shifter into the N position once, shift into P again and make sure the ATP light is off.)
When i put my truck into N and switch it to 4H and start to go for some reason its very hard for me to turn my wheel is there a reason for that
