Hi , i have a 2008 pathfinde r 51 , the problem i have is with the 4x4high , is not engaging , the light turns on , but nothing happens , 4x4 auto and 4x4 low work, the TRANSFER CASE LEVER CONTROL / solenoid no.33274-7S110 , or what is called , changes the 4x4 high to , or only the 4 low?
depends on what you describe as 'grind'... there's the whir of the transfer case selector motor, then theres gear teeth clash such as you have when trans isn't fully in Neutral or you are slightly rolling... I've had that gear clash once, entirely my fault
Thanks guys. Yes, helpful. Can you do one on how it splits power to front and rear? Main curiosity is, is it always 50/50 split and locked or is it like an open diff? I was out wheeling and was sure I was in 4hi as my front tires were pulling and kicking up rocks, but I got to one area with my left rear wheel off the ground and all the power went to that wheel even though both my fronts were on the ground and I couldn't move

Alldogs I know this is an old video but curious what you guys think the reason why my 4lo can go reverse but not forward? It runs forward in 2wd and 4hi though
Hello there Mr Alldogs, thanks very much for the vid, explained very well! I have a question if you don't mind. I have a Frontier (Navara here in the UK) D 22, 2.5 Diesel, 2002. Do you know if its possible to change it from a 4WD / 2WD to just 2WD , as in Removing the Front Drive Shaft, I know this is a bit of an odd question, but I'm having trouble with my Transfer Case in 2WD. I never use 4wd as it's just used for touring and not off road or Towing. Can't afford to do anything with my Transfer Case and would be fine in 2WD all the time. Is this possible or a massive no no!?! Thank you
Thx for the video. Could you also explain, how this works on the Nissan Pathfinder? Cause the Pathfinder has one more Option to select, which is called "Auto", and Nissan says, it could transfer automaticly the power to the front? But how does this work?
I have a 2006 frontier which its making a ticking sound that happens when I am in 4l or 4H or 2wd. It all started one day when I was wheeling in 4LO down a hill and made the mistake of putting in the clutch, the truck gain speed because I was in neutral for a second and it was downhill then I let out the clutch so the truck TC in 4LO had to slow down rapidly. I think it put stress on the transferase. The sound it coming from the TC? What could have been damaged? Possibly there is alot of slak in the chain? Your thoughts on this?
Why would you want 2Lo? I don't see a benefit for that, that couldn't be accomplished with 4Lo. Unless you want rear locker function but then you could just rewire it to work anytime.
@ ??? Leaving your righteous ignorance aside... Some situations call for a crawl without the need for 4wd. E.g. hard packed fire road with occasional boulders and uphills. It is not the end of all, but with the manual it is nice to pick and choose how you tread the way, even if not optimally at times.
@@VasyaIvanovichPupkin "righteous ignorance" I can tell how this is gonna go if that's your response to a GENUINE question. Hope you never get an answer. Figure it out big guy
@@VasyaIvanovichPupkin BTW, if you find yourself needing a crawl ratio then you should be in 4x4 anyway. Hence why i said have a LOCKER you can use anytime. That will give you more benefits then a low ratio in 2wd. Maybe if you take a sec and actually read the whole comment before running your mouth, you'd see im not as "ignorant" as you claim.
My 2008 xterra has a problem in 4 low. If I am in driving in 4 low on a trail for too long something starts to happen like it is slipping or binding up...its strange. I will then switch to 4 high with no problems. What is going on? Transmission or transfer case? I also have a slight vibration in 4 high at the 50 mph range.
That vibration might be from an un balanced front drivshaft in my opinion. And if your on a regular trail you shouldn't be in 4lo most trails will do just fine in 2wd. The binding is from turning the steering wheel and causing "wind up".
There definitely is a Neutral position. It is just not detented. What I am really missing is the 2L position. I wonder is there is a way to modify that selector drum in some way.

Do you know if there's a complete rebuild kit for these tcase
When you disengage gear from planetery gears crown your 4lo switch off or on? Not understend

That's great thanks. Do you have to regear that if you put a lift and bigger tires?

You would've been spinning a front tire as well. Power is 50/50 split. Watch when he goes from 4hi to 2hi and the chain gets disengaged.

Nissan seems to have made these impossible to fix, if a fork is snapped any options other than replacing the whole transfer case?
Specifically Titan XD
Can the transfer case actuator motor be replaced independently without removing the case from the vehicle?
It's been a long time since we have taken it apart, but I think that it's possible.
If yours is the model that looks like a little black box , yes that unbolts without having to remove entire case( one electric plug and vacuum hose).

Sounds like the chain stretched from engine braking, would be my guess, hope that helps.
Nice and neat explanation, thanks.
Does the transfer case also power the back wheels ?
Yes
Are there any knows mods to allow for 2L position? Any way to modify the drum selector or a way to engage the chain drive with a different actuator?
