- Today I am taking you to Cuauhtémoc Chihuahua in Mexico. Here resides a colony of Mennonites that have been living here for almost 100 years. They fled from Europe and Canada seeking religious freedom and eventually found it in Chihuahua Mexico. The Mennonites live a very traditional life and are very strict with their norms and with what they can and can't do. In todays vlog we will go deep into their world and discover what being a Mennonite in Mexico is all about.

Yeah he’s Mexican af.
Maybe because he’s old and speaks fluent Spanish. A lot of elderly people from Spain sound like that.

True. There are wealthy people, and wealthy people . . . this guy, and superficial millionaires who will get depressed eventually.
My parents are from Namiquipa Chihuahua , we have a ranch and our neighbors are menones. They teach their kid at a very young age to work , I see their 12 year olds kids drive big John Deere tractors planting the field . Their work ethic is unmatched and they are extremely kind .

Can mennonites use social media?
@@Jesusisyhvh1 depends on how old fashioned they are. I live in Canada and my parents are both mexican mennonite, and theres quite a few old fashioned mennonite families around here that pretty much wont touch new technology other than cars, and maybe a phone to make calls. Hello. In case anyone was wondering, The older gentleman at the beginning told his wife in low German (plautdietsch) “this guy wants to see our house”.
Also, when he was younger, and most people there now, speak Spanish much faster but as they get older it slows down. Speech in general.
And one thing a few of them said in the video which I don’t understand is that Mennonites don’t generally like spicy foods and chilis. That is absolutely not the case for a large majority of them. Of the Mennonite men I know, maybe only 10-20% don’t like spicy. The rest do, and about 20% I know have to eat jalapeños with almost every meal.
My favourite pizza at La Sierra is the bean pizza. It’s amazing.
I enjoyed the video and good on you for buying from them, especially the cookies. As it really helps them out and is much appreciated.
We Mennonites LOVE Mexican food. It has become a big part of our diet. Along with foods our ancestors picked up from different countries they lived in.
Also, Carlos V is a chocolate in Mexico.

@@evadyck5663 thank you. I could go on and on but realized it would become a report. Haha.
I love videos like this but realize a lot of it is misunderstood, if people don’t understand the culture. For example, I see a lot of people talking about how shy the children are in the beginning of the video, which is partly true, but most likely they didn’t understand a word he said to them anyway, so they couldn’t have talked to him even if they weren’t shy.
@@benteich Why do they not speak or understand Spanish?? Their Grandfather does.. After all they're living in Mexico a Spanish speaking country
@@jcbulldog533 I was more referring to when he was speaking English to them.
Most children there will at some point learn Spanish but they do go to a German school so they don’t specifically learn Spanish either but pick it up when talking to others or hearing others that speak Spanish as they grow up.
The Mennonites in The United States have taught me a valuable lesson, they do not harbor negative feelings, they believe in positivity cause negative emotions will eventually erode the vessel in which is it stored. This man is content and has an excellent work ethic at 86 years young. My life has changed since I have adopted that mentality, every waking moment is a chance for me to improve on myself and to improve the lives of people around me. chulada de senor dios los bendiga un ejemplo a seguir todos los mexicanos.
The Mennonites are a community that is to be admired for their German work ethic and it shows. While in Mexico it’s not out of this world to see blond and blue eyed people, it is to find communities that still preserve their culture and language like them. And there are many other communities that have been in Mexico for many decades and even over a hundred years since Mexico brought in many people to populate the huge territory from Europe, Middle East and east Asia besides the already established indigenous, criollos, Africans and mestizos. If you keep going north in chihuahua you find another community of Mormons from the USA in Colonia Juarez. Also Afrikaans speaking Boers in Chihuahua. In Baja California in the wine valley there are Russian colonies still as well as the large Chinese community in Mexicali. In Puebla you find a Venetian speaking community in a town called Chipilo. Swiss in Oaxaca. German towns in Chiapas (in the Soconusco) as well as a Japanese town in this state called Acacoyagua. The Little Cornwall región in Hidalgo with the towns of Real del Monte and Pachuca! Veracruz has probably the most varied towns like Italian villages and a French region along the Bobos River especially in the towns of San Rafael and Jicaltepec where they preserve their culture, language, gastronomy and architecture from the Haute Saone! Among many other examples! Like in Mexico City you find from a Chinatown, Koreatown, Little Tokyo, Little Beirut, Little Italy, Little France to more recent places like Little Colombia, Little Venezuela, Little Argentina and Little Haiti! It’s a very diverse country! Love my Mexico lindo y querido! :)
Big comment love it
In Mexico you can still experience true freedom although it has its problem I’m proud of my Mexican brothers and sisters and just for everyone to know being Mexican has nothing to do with ethnicity color or spiritual believes being Mexican is about family ethics and love for the land . In Mexico hard working ethics are expected and respected. That’s why different people from all over come to forge a new successful life .

@Cesar Vialpando Of course, we have a lot of violence, but in my last trip to the US, there were more shooting (in local news) than i expected...
Maybe I missed it but the only children in the video seem to be selling stuff, how is that children being children?
What do you mean? I live in a suburban neighborhood and on a clear sunny day all kids are out riding bikes and scooters. Parents walking with kids and dogs going to one of the two parks. We have splashpads as well for warm weather. I always say if we're looking for something we will find it. Now its true devices have changed the way kids interact but I still see them out playing a lot.
It’s awesome to see how culture is preserved even when in other places, it does mix with the other one but the main one is still there and it’s beautiful

Volpe you're really showing the massive diversity and scale of Mexico...each state is different but similar like in USA.
At all, the vast majority of Mexicans have native blood from *Cem Ānahuac* (North America), while this town is an exception.
On the other hand, all of you do not belong to this continent, you should have dignity and return to the British islands, you are only occupying land that does not belong to you and it will never be like that.
*PS.* But what can be expected of people who do not know that America is a continent and not a country, also if we add to this that their nation has no culture or history, it is useless to ask them to reason, ...so forget it.
