As a person who lives and continues to live in the state of Chihuahua, the "Ch" is very noticeable to us and it is true. And it is more noticeable when I am practicing my pronunciation in German, as sometimes in English.I really like your video, thank you
🎉 thats where my family is from! Juarez Chihuahua ( I was born in El Paso) but yes exactly. We use to tease my mother growing up. We would say, mom, say "sharp shredded chedder cheese" 😂 impossible. She also struggles to say Shrek. She ended up whistleing once lol all in good fun. But yea, its like the ch and sh are reversed by the time she makes it to english. gracias por el video. I use to think that all spanish was like this, normal, but just found out it is norteño y aun asi es un acento unicamente Chihuahuense. Saludos
Haha!!! I love the “sharp shredded cheddar cheese!!” Your poor mom!😂 thanks for sharing!! Siiiii siempre es diferente en cada región! It’s fascinating!!😍
Yes! There is an almost singing tone to it, where the south has less pitchy and more monotone sound….great observation!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 thank you for sharing!!
This is a great video! my family were telling me about this but I couldnt find too many videos on here. for a fun thing to bring up, in India there’s a ton of languages and in the north* (like el norte de mexico) there is a lot of people who speak hindi but in the north east is west bengal / bangledesh where a lot of bengalis live. bangla shares some hindi words BUT the biggest thing with bengalis is that there is this sh sound that is used and once you here ir you can really hear the difference between hindi and bangla even if you dont fully understand what they are saying. :D i love languages so much and how thousands of miles away in a northern part of the country two países will do the same thing :)
Amazing!! I love how so many countries and languages experience the exact same thing!! And even how one’s first language affects the way they pronounce and navigate their second, third, etc. languages! Thank you so much for sharing!
Great question!! I am not particularly familiar with a southern Mexican accent, although I have noticed similarities with a Central American accent, which makes sense geographically. There are also varieties of accents depending on if someone is from a big city or more of a rural area.
It is definitely as unique as a southern, in the sense that people would know where someone is from northern Mexico simply from hearing it! Thanks for sharing!!

Haha I love it!!! 🤣🤣🤣🏆 Thank you for sharing!!!
I notice that Chihuhuan Spanish voices are at a higher pitch than to the south. Does anyone else notice that?

There are 8 main regions in Mexico, and around the same number of accents.
Amazing! I love that! Thank you for sharing!😊
Mastering the California Mexican Accent = Orale vato loco! Chinga tu pinche motta carnalito! Puro Norte XIV
I have family roots in Chihuahua . What you say is true.
That’s awesome!! Thank you for sharing!!
I thought they spoke soft in the South and harsher in the North? Or is the "ch" an exception?

Is it true that this accent is basically the Mexican spanish parallel to the American southern accent?
