    Thanks for the shoutout and for reacting to this song. Sorry that I didn't comment earlier on this video. I was asleep when you guys uploaded this video lol. I knew you guys would enjoy the grooves and the funky vibes. This song is considered either funk rock or funk metal. Other bands like them are red hot chili peppers and Faith No More. I knew the vocals would be hit or miss but yeah lol. Anyways, thanks for reacting to this song. I haven't seen you guys react to rap rock song in a while so I would suggest Play Me (ft. Nas) by Korn. Keep up the good work. Today I have to do a speech on Hinduism in India for my communication studies class. That'll be interesting lol.

    Les Claypool (Bassist) is one crazy bastard. But he's also probably among the top 3 Living Bassists in the world. His band is odd but the groove is always there. And you know you shouldn't like it but before you know it you can't stop moving...You should do Jerry was a Racecar Driver or Wynona's Big Brown Beaver next time you do Primus.

      Mitch Berg. Let's not bring Cliff Burton into this. He was mediocre at best...While he was PERFECT for Metallica he was no Stu Hamm, Jeff Berlin, Les Claypool or Jaco Pastorious...Hell he wasn't even on the same level as Flea...Again. I do agree that his loss was felt greatly for Metallica and anyone that likes their older stuff such as myself. But he was just an average metal bassist.
      As proof...Les Claypool in fact auditioned for Metallica after Cliff passed. And they turned him down because he was TOO GOOD!

    You absolutely nailed it! I’ve been a huge fan of Primus since the early 90s, and I still can’t categorize it! The band is really just an excuse for Les Claypool to show off what a phenomenal bassist he is! But everything he does is quirky (like the South Park theme...that’s him). And if you ever get to see him live, you have to do it! Great video, and great channel guys! Now you have to check out Faith no More, Epic! Mike Patton has one of the widest vocal ranges ever recorded!

    • @LowEndWarrior
      @LowEndWarrior 6 лет назад +1

      Plus INFININTY to 'Faith No More'....although, I'd choose something besides 'Epic'. That is certainly the song that put them on the larger musical map, but there are soooooo many other tunes that simply rock harder. 'The Real Thing' would be more 'epic'. ;-) ....although, I think I might even choose something from 'Angel Dust', myself.

      Back in the 90's I lived in a small town. The only place with CD's didn't have much choice on hand, but they had a HUGE catalog to order through. It was broken down by genre; Hip Hop, R&B, Alternative Rock, Punk, etc. Anyways, one of the categories was PRIMUS! And Primus was the only group in the genre! So apparently NOBODY knew how to classify them, lol.

    This is really the only Primus song with "auctioneer" vocals, though they never exactly sound normal. They've tended to change it up from one song to the next. If you liked this at all, you should definitely listen to some more. 'Wynona's Big Brown Beaver' might be a good choice. 'My Name Is Mud' is another fan favorite, and a bit darker and grungier. I'd also recommend 'Lee Van Cleef', which is lighter and a bit more recent, relatively speaking.

    In Primus the lead guitar is the bass guitar. He tried out for Metallica and they rejected him because they said he was too good. Seriously. That happened.

    • @pmck6336
      @pmck6336 6 лет назад +35

      He wasn't rejected because he was "too good", more due to him having his own unique playing and personal style which would be restricted within the established parameters of Metallica. He had a skate punk look at the time, and playing a funky non-metal designed bass, a poor fit all around. Primus was gaining momentum at the time, and he grew up with Kirk in El Sobrante....thus the audition. But it was never going to be a fit for either side. Can you imagine Les allowing James and Lars mixing his Bass parts down. Bring in a long hair guy, with black stretch jeans, and white high tops that could handle the Bass like Les then he gets the gig. So, not about James and Lars being intimidated because of Les being "too good", but about him not being the right fit for the band, creatively and appearance wise.
      And Larry shreds on guitar. The Bass may be the centerpiece of the band, but there is a lot of great guitar work going on. Larry had jumped from the original Death Metal band Possesed to Progressive Thrash Metal Band Blind illusion....where he met Les. The SF Bay Area was a fun time back in the mid to late 80's. Lot's of great homegrown music.

      Larry does shred on guitar. Primus is a great group of musicians all around. I was SO glad when Herb rejoined the band, nothing against Brain, but it didn't sound like Primus to me with Brain.

      I really hope they react to Passenger. Given that they liked their first deftones reaction, they should love Passenger. Plus, they like Maynard's vocals too. Definitely hope it's their next Deftones reaction.

      Saw Primus open for Rush back in the 90's. Yes, I'm old, but they rocked. Had a guy behind me to tell me to sit down during Rush. . Who sits down at a concert?! 😂

    This isn't metal. Les Claypool is a bass playing alien. No one plays like him. I'm not sure Victor Wooten could keep up...

      I'm sure Victor could 'keep up', but Victor would never come up with these lines in the first place. Les is a good, creative song writer as well as great bassist. Perhaps only Geddy Lee stands above him in Rock.
      Victor Wooten is inventive in a completely different way, different genres. A bit of an apples/oranges comparison.

    PRIMUS!! Yes, you guys nailed it. Great reaction and analysis of a very awesome, very odd band. Les Clayppool is considered one of the greats when it comes to bass players, and Primus stood apart by putting the bass front and center throughout their music. Love you guys. Great take on a great band. Get some Jerry was a racecar driver going, and I think you will be a fan :)
