So if I was born in Italy and left when I was 15 years old, I am an American citizen but also am an Italian citizen, however in 1996 the rules changed and I no longer am an Italian citizen based on that rule. But If I go to Italy I can apply for my citizenship in Italy, and I will probably be granted that. So question is, what happens to my Social Security pension (taxes) and how would I make sense of the taxes and the rules, if decided to retire in Italy?

Is the elective retirement visa amount for a couple? What kind of insurance is available for couples over 65?

Question: Can you apply for the Elective Residency Visa before you have 12 months worth of proof of retirement income? For instance, if I retire in April, but apply in October, I will only be able to show 6 months worth of retirement income. The other months would comprise of my employment income prior to retiring. Will I have to wait a full year before applying for the visa? Thanks!

You would have to consult a professional. You could email Giancarlo.

    The Italian DNV is here!!
I have been teaching online for several years. My income is around $24,000 per year. Our rental income is around $16,000 per year. Our Social Security and Pensions are around $44,000 per year.
Am I qualified for the DNV?

In 2024, Mexico raised their minimum income to 4300 per month. So you must be grandfathered in down there because Italy's income requirements are far easier to qualify than Mexicos.
