They did lose their funding and might lost registration as that might take some time to resolve in court. The supreme court case was a separate issue.

The funding issues and deregistration has not gone to any courts. The supreme court case in Norway was months ago and was a JW woman trying to get reinstated by lower court order.
So cruel , can't speak our family left in 1996 and the pain goes on , they do so much damage to families!

I think it's better this way. Had the court ruled against them, the GB would have screamed persecution louder and some outsiders may have fallen for it. But at present, they've only lost a subsidy. They can kick and scream all they want. They're just bratty kids who didn't get the ice cream.

It would but don't hold your breath. If enough people would rise up and demand that a stop be put to it, it might happen. Might. The trouble is that there are too few ex jehovah witnesses. We are vastly out numbered by the card carrying jehovah witnesses. The cult leaders have vast sums of money at their disposal. The government doesn't care if the jehovah witnesses have a child sex abuse problem. Washington figures it's a jehovah witness problem. They have bigger things to worry about. If Washington made a list of things to be concerned about, jehovah witnesses wouldn't even make the first page. The average Joe doesn't even think about jehovah witnesses. So, it's up to a handful of apostates. A thorn in the side of the governing body at best but not much more.
It's amazing how government bends over backwards for religion. Kinda like they do for corporations, but really not much difference between religion and corporate interest the only difference is what they're selling
The government worries about setting a precedent. Their decision could and would effect other religions. They don't want to open a can of worms. The government would rather just stay out of it.

Religion still has a huge influence on governments and communities to the point where if you take down one, you run the risk of taking down the others. Like you said and it's true, other religions do in fact have similar "disfellowshipping" policies to the JWs, but some are a bit more liberal than others and yet some are as extreme or worse than JWs. Governments will continue to favor religion more than the overall human rights issue. Of course they won't allow the deleting of humans, but when it comes to outcast members, seems that is Ok to do in these governments eyes, even though that is a clear violation of human rights, but it is what it is. The only way to turn these issues around are to continually educate the public on these issues and expose these religions for what they truly are.

I still have some hopes. Yeah I hate that the Witness won this one on a technicality. The power of "culture" is severely unbalanced. I'm glad they're still defunded, and I'm pretty sure Watchtower will lose their upcoming lawsuit in Spain. CCJW tends to be pretty good on defense, but their offenses sucks.

It was a different case not the recent one which will defund them. It was a disfellowshipped woman asks the supreme court to let the JW re-instate her again but the Supreme court denied her request lol.

A good question to ask our believing family members is: why does Satan's system continue to come to their aid time after time? They don't seem to be hated like. jesus said.
They are not hated like Jesus was hated. I believe Watchtower has a role in Satans system. As I said earlier Watchtower will disfellowship someone for obeying Caesar if they excepted military service even as a non combatant. Satans system will not go after Watchtower for subversion yet the system will put us in prison for choosing prison over the loss of contact with family members.
Also no doubt many leaders in Satans system knows that if the organization said it is up to us to have a blood transfusion that many would do so. They know members are caught between a rock and a hard place. So religious freedom belongs to leadership to do as they please not its adherents or general membership
Unfortunately cognitive dissonance would cause them to just view that as Jehovah coming thru for them. The real question to ask would be why would it matter anyway if Satan’s wicked evil government funds their efforts if Jehovah is backing them. They could use those hefty legal fees to help out struggling brothers or sisters and leave the legal matters “in Jehovahs hands” as they LOVE to say 🙄

I think so. From my understanding it was a yes your free to practice your religion and believe what you want but if it violates the rules of your country then you will be practicing your religion without the funding.

The United States was supposedly founded on religious freedom. To try and administrate any sanctions on any religious group is tough. As soon as they say persecution the courts tend to back off. Anything short of premeditated murder and religion gets a free pass. That goes for any religion. It's just the way it is. The separation of church and state. The government hopes that people will be smart enough not to get involved with these religious cults. But these cults are entrenched in the populous. There are so many of them, not just the jehovah witnesses. The government backs off and pretty much let's them do what they want. The government couldn't stop Heavens Gate. They couldn't stop Jim Jones the Moonies or a gazillion other cults out there. If people are dumb enough to get involved with snake handlers and holy rollers. It's on them. What will eliminate these cults is if people will use their heads and not get involved. If they avoid them like the plague that they are. Unfortunately people are extremely gullible and will fall for almost anything.
