Dan, just wanted to let you know that you have really helped me get over not accomplishing much because of my perfectionism. I've let it go and have got tons done and had a lot more fun doing it, you da man sir! Thank you!!
Same, first old car project I had a few years ago, was wire wheeling and painting every part that came off. Never even planned on restoring it, just had that "while I'm in there" mentality. Watching Dan and guys like him, I realized you just have to wrench on it, so you can thrash on it. Made a ton more progress with the new project than I ever did with the old one.
Actually with manifold source it’s full vacuum advance at idle, above throttle plate (metering plate port) brings in advance when you crack the throttle open, only difference. Every engine combo is different, some need full advance at idle some don’t. Most early cars before emissions era used manifold vacuum. My 360 Duster with low compression, power steering and auto trans will not idle in gear with ported vacuum. My 400 powered AT A/C Camaro idles smoother with ported vacuum even with accessories on, it’s. a 9:5 engine with mild cam. In my opinion It really depends on engine combo.
Dan that car is a beast i love it i have always loved the nova's but since you have had this car on the Chanel i wont to see more of it so keep on keeping on
Dan you really amaze me you are so talented. I love all your rides but that Nova is one sweet machine. Had approximately 450 muscle cars pickups motorcicles over last 50 years but believe miss my 68 chevelle ss most. Had a 454 488 posi 4 gear latter bar's n 50s. 3rd day engine locked up traded it 150.00 dollars for 69 427/390 horse put 373 posi was never out run on street. Your Nova brought back lots of memories thanks for sharing enjoy ya'll have fun
Definitely got a good rock and roll a little car bud little more love and care and everybody will want it no one's rule y'all have a good weekend later
To cover that distributor , take a two liter pop bottle and cut one end off of it and slide it down over the cap and wires . Works equally well for four wheeling . 4:10 gears at a minimum with a tunnel rammed Rat Motor , for real fun try 5:13s around town .
I think a lot of us are as surprised as Mur is about how well the '57 Roadster turned out. Love the Nova. I've owned a couple and put a 454/TH400 in one of them. Sold it before I ever drove it while it was still 'in progress' in the garage. People like big blocks in Nova's...and everything else. Keep up the good work! :)
Gosh that brings back memories! My first car over 40 years ago was a big block 69 Camaro with manual steering and 4 speed. I could tell you had a manual tiller. Big blocks make the car a completely different animal. This would be the car to perfect and preserve on this summer.
Exactly! That's what I've always said, a "different animal" vs. one equipped with an auto trans. Back in the day all the hipo Mopars I owned and drove on the street had a) big block wedge engine (and once a 426 Street Hemi), b) manual steering and c) manual brakes. No power-robbing accessories period!
I love a lot of American cars and also like big blocks , Mustang's dodges and camaros 😆 And I like the work you've done as well because you've got some really nice motors m8 ,
Nothing like Hot Rod Jesus and Queen Danielle doing little red light romps in a tunnel rammed big block Nova...this would be great for one of the drag and drives...keep on keepin on
Just be happy that you can afford a garage and the cool cars to put in it. Who needs a stinking driveway. Lol. I'd be happy with the garage, and you have 2. Thanks for the video
Been waiting to hear that beast on the streets! The thing your friend said that one time of even only doing 1 thing per day adds up REALLY helped me! Getting ready to finish up my pickup by the end of the month! Also started on my '63 Dart GT Convertible! 😁
a plastic wheelbarrow tub would work to keep out the weather, and should be heavy enough to stay put. damn! those potholes are big enough to fish in. a nova is always a good time.
say hello to the queen dd & Dan nova out runing a around town . Also the remark of the dark going by you. Now that we're okay that was pretty cool watching that lady drive by
@ 9:20 must be trying to drv that 4psd with too many pedals in those dangerous flip flops agn..eh ? It's Coming along.. eh with spring in the air and more rain on the way. Dang it.. be glad it's not snow.. Aye.
Great little hot rod. Clean and tune the carbs. Set the valve lash. Tunnel rams love rpm. If you were going to run this alot you should select a camshaft specific for a Tunnel ram. Duration somewhere around 240. LSA should be around 108 for extra exhaust scavenging. Tuning a Tunnel ram to work properly is an old school art form. I wish I knew more about it I could give you better advice. But the old timers ran specific camshafts for Tunnel Rams even if they were just in a street rod. As far as the moisture in the distributor. Wait for the car to be cooled off for a few hours. Then spray the outside of the distributor cap and wires with spray silicone. It will seal it up pretty good for a few weeks to a month at a time. Atleast until you figure something out with a cover for the bird catcher.
Waterproofing your electronics can be accomplished by using removable silicone sealant. I used to use it on everything from the distributor cap to the taillights and turn signals on my off-road truck. It keeps the water out for fording streams but lets you take things apart for service. Dap 18354 Seal 'N Peel Removable Caulk.
I love that car Dan. She's definitely a sweet ass set of wheels. Completely enjoy the channel. Keep up the great channel content! Keep on Motoring brother!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
4:10 gears with a tunnel ram is great , a tunnel ram with 3:07 gears kinda sucks , "been their done that" The tunnel ram likes 3,500 to 7,500 and a comp cams 288 ar Mechanical Roller - Lift 0.623 / 0.623 in - Duration 288 / 288 - 110 LSA - 2200 / 6500 RPM I ran this cam on the street and loved it . it will always bog with 3"07 gears "not a happy combo" till you hit higher rpm's , the right combo will make all the difference my friend . find some cheep 781's oval ports get the compression up to 10" to 1, I ran 12: 20 all day in a 69 firebird not the fastest but very reliable and fun JMHO keep up the good work dan
Are you sh*tting me? Is that the gear that's in the rear end of this Nova? And with a tunnel ram-equipped engine no less? No wonder it's bucking and jerking the way it does! Duh!
Hey Dan! What if you took the scoop you cut off the hood, and add or remove where it sits over the carbs? Use it for parking and when it rains you can set it on to keep it from getting to wet? Use snaps to hold it from blowing off. Just an idea! She's a runner!

Nobody salvage in Kansas talked see 57 chev parts 56 for 55chev
@@perotekku haha just gotta make it happen sometimes
Haha Dan..thought you woulda said you have to embrace the mediocrity...
Dan, you will have full vacuum advance all the time with the line placed on the tunnel ram. It will run better placed on the metering block.
yep vacum advance needs ported vacum to work properly

Love the nova! Sounds and looks so good! Nothing like a big block 4 speed!!!!
Without a doubt! Especially a street machine like I and many of my friends had back in the day.
Definitely got a good rock and roll a little car bud little more love and care and everybody will want it no one's rule y'all have a good weekend later
Mur rocking the Van Dutch shirt , so rad .

Frikken awesome Canadians eh?? Another cool ride from D&D Speed. 👍😎
Love the Von Dutch T shirt Mur!!! Great video, love the muscle car rumble way more than the rice burner splat exhaust sound. Thanks, and all the best!
Well Dan you are very entertaining and a real-world car guy
White body with matte black trim, black hood.
You have the know how, paint that Nova!

Hey Dan you could use a tote storage box plastic to put over the scoop n carbs for the rain cover.
Cool shades, Dani !!! Styling !!!
Nice weather! Nice Cruise! Fun to watch Guys!
Thanks buddy!

Your Nova is one Bad Hot Rod , good work Dan
I never knew you had this Nova. I love it. One of my favorite color combos. It's one of the cars I haven't owned and want.
First... I gotta say that the 57 looks AMAZING!!! Absolutely love the Nova too!! One badass daily driver once you get it all sorted out
Greetings Mur! Glad your back!
Just be happy that you can afford a garage and the cool cars to put in it. Who needs a stinking driveway. Lol. I'd be happy with the garage, and you have 2. Thanks for the video
Wow I thought we had bad roads in Ontario, you all win
Love the roll bar.
Glad to see the Nova back out cruising again
Been waiting to hear that beast on the streets! The thing your friend said that one time of even only doing 1 thing per day adds up REALLY helped me! Getting ready to finish up my pickup by the end of the month! Also started on my '63 Dart GT Convertible! 😁

Can't wait to see what you do with it..
Andy
Dan put a snorkel scoop over the top for storage
a plastic wheelbarrow tub would work to keep out the weather, and should be heavy enough to stay put. damn! those potholes are big enough to fish in. a nova is always a good time.
One of my favorites of your builds!

Great sound and the 4 speed
Red 57 Chevy and Chevy Nova in same video, don’t get no better than that. Very cool ✌️😎👍
cool nova, old school build
Gotta love the Nova sounds great dan
I love the Nova! Once I was ripping around in my 70 Nova and I got pulled over and got a ticket for "causing unreasonable noise"...lol!
My interesting tickets was for "Excessive rotation of the tires" LOL Yup, that's a thing.
@@MrWoodyBalto it's a wreckless driving ticket here if you get caught spinning your tires.
Looks better with the hood, for sure, imho
Always enjoy the Nova. That's a sweet ride.
Good job Dan
Dan that is one Bad ass car!
Dan Build a big Grump lump scoop out of plexi glass !
Pretty sweet Nova.
Always get the itch when the weather turns... cheers
Oya big time
Awesome seeing you cruise the Nova, get her tuned up and a little better gears in the rear and you'll have a rocket ship !!!
car sounds awesome Dan
Room for a roots blower now😁 just pusom little aluminum flanges around the underside of the hood hole and put the scoop back on it for storage
Well .... about time for the Nova to be back... loving it
You have a vinyl top so have a vinyl skirt made for the hood that covers and seals things.
Ported vacuum on those holleys was on the right side of the metering block
It was great to see the Nova out again. Can't wait to see the Nomad done. P.S. Rag top 57 is sweet too.!!!!
That was a stellar joke Dani

Hi Dan, Danni, Mur !!! The Nova sounds good!

Sweet ride along
Man that Nova is snapping necks! Nice job bro definitely my fave of all your rides🍻🇨🇱
Cool video Dan!! Good video work Danny!! Love these ride-alongs!! I hear you Dan I've got to sell the car to build the shop!
Get ya a small tie down strap for the battery. Rubber maid deep tub and put a brick on top of it for when it rains.
@ 9:20 must be trying to drv that 4psd with too many pedals in those dangerous flip flops agn..eh ? It's Coming along.. eh with spring in the air and more rain on the way. Dang it.. be glad it's not snow.. Aye.
Dan that was a real fun video. It made me want a car with a 4-speed in it, and yes it can be very hard on the drivers license.
4 speed is the ticket
Cool car. I love those old nova's.
Sounds awesome , love it 👍👍
