Dig a hole for the fire and cover up with the soil at the end leave no trace
Ideally, yes that is right. But that area is full of flint and is quite hard to dig out. Putting pegs in the ground there is hard enough 😀
We got it sorted so all is good 😉👍
@@BourneOutside Here in N GA, it rains hard a lot. Digging a hole means your fire will be dead and cold in a heavy rain. Just put it out when done lol. BTW, to legitimize the wild camping, I've sent a C-130 full of cougars, blackbear and wolves over England. They'll be paradropped.

The fire went out twice just after lighting. I had to use my Maccy D plastic straws with cotton and Vaseline to make sure it caught.

Another good reason to leave no trace the next morning. We can walk out with our heads held high knowing we are considerate wild campers.

What is it with people? How hard is it to leave no trace? I used to belong to our regimental Int Section and our job was to scour abandoned harbour areas and see what was left behind and then analyse it. we could figure out how many were there, how long for, morale, discipline, what equipment they had etc. That was 40 years ago but i still refuse to let anyone know how big a prat I am... I mean...

Haha, hello Doug. Do you know, when I first started doing this as an adult (used to do it a lot as a kid), I would have been so worried about being kicked out of an area.
Now, I couldn't care less about being approached as I know "they" can see I have the kit and am not out to ruin an area. That's another good reason for filming, so they can see we care.

Hopefully it'll be sorted soon and I can get out again. Yeah, people don't really faze me either. What we do isn't illegal so if they don't like it they can jog on! Bring on the heat. Over here in the UK, wild camping is frowned upon and technically illegal. So by seeing us, the camp was compromised, if you like 🙂👍

Hello Age, thank you sir. Yes we had to clear the fire remnants of others and then our own addition to it. It was there so we thought we may as well utilise it.
It was a good camp and as usual, great chat around the fire with great company in Burton Outdoors style.
