Old Winnipeg arena looked like an awesome place to watch a game! Interesting that there were two of the last few helmet holdouts playing against each other in Dougie Wilson and Randy Carlyle. It was also cool to see Alain Chevrier (wearing the old rawhide pads) who would be traded to the Hawks just a couple months later in January! He would go on to actually play really well for the Hawks in the 89 playoffs, where they ultimately lost to the Stanley Cup Champion Calgary Flames in the conference finals!

It was a true old barn that sat 15,000-15,500 or so. Originally only 10k but they expanded it even though it was jam packed. It was loud and they took their white outs very seriously.
5 years later Carlyle and Doug Wilson were still hanging on in the league helmetless. Amazing how many of the last helmetless warriors were defensemen. Langway and Marsh also played into the 1990s

@@timburr4453 Another memorable feature of the Winnipeg Arena was quite possibly the largest portrait of a grinning Queen Elizabeth II in existence, which was mounted on one of the interior walls.
I think the last NHL player to play without a helmet was Craig MacTavish?

Thanks for the new posts - love to see the great 80s and 90s Hawks teams in action! The goalposts were Pang's best friends in the second period or this one would have been over early.

Imagine taking a Dave Manson bullet to the head! How cool is the Duane Sutter save! So glad to see Wayne Presley with the game winner!! Thanks for sharing these amazing games from my childhood!!!

8:40 😮 Manson had one of the top 10 (maybe top 5) most devastating shots in hockey at the time. Impressed Reddick stayed in...maybe he shouldnt have

13:12 there's always some jerk Leafs fan wearing a Toronto jersey at a random game not involving the team...always.
