I just got my new Profile washer combo. I modified my filter by putting a small silicon gasket around mine to prevent any lint getting by it into the coils. I learned that in another video and it works perfectly.
Awesome, glad it helped! If you haven't already, please like and subscribe so others can find my videos and possibly consider watching a few others and commenting to get the algorithm to recommend my channel. Thanks!
So what do you do when the damn cap separates from the filter part? The filter was stuck. I e got carpel tunnel no hand strength so I used pliers. I barely tugged and the whole cap came off.
@@ItsBinhRepaired my dad came to help. He used a pick tool to get filter out. The cap literally just snaps back into place. Kinda shitty design. I knew I didn't pull hard enough to break anything. Thanks though.
Yeah... it's a very bad design. Did you see the people defending it in the comments? It's like, are you serious? They must be the types of people that own BMWs and Porsches that make the oil filter impossible to get to and require a vaccum to get the oil out... lol
Thank you so much for this video, you saved us so much time and money. But just a heads up that cap will come off from the rest of the filter piece if it's too full of lint. Used 2 long, flat tip screw drivers to pry that half out of the tube. Stupid design on their part in my opinion. Thank you again for sharing this.
@tabithabarnes162 up! I recommend drilling a hole in that part that you pull and tie a loop with some string or something to make it really easy to pull out. The fact that you have to catch water there every time is very stupid...
It is no wonder that machine is having issues. It is not being properly maintained/cleaned. It's like having a filter on a vacuum that needs to be washed once a month and it not being done. Unmaintained products don't work as they should or last long. Although it's the owners fault, the company is blamed. If someone isn't going to clean their floors, they aren't going to keep this machine up.
The issue is if they aren't told or there isn't a reminder, people who didn't read the manual won't know. Normal washing machines don't have a filter and the dryers only have a lint trap. Most modern dryers have a light that reminds them to clear the lint trap. This thing has a lint trap and a filter that's hidden behind a door that's not easy to remove at all. If it's meant to be cleaned out regularly, it should be obvious. That little panel should say, drain filter, clean weekly! and should have a tab that allows you to open it without tools. The design is harder to do than changing oil and the oil filter on a car, and people take that in for maintenance. I took that plate off and left it off. I told my friend to check the filter weekly or every 5 loads. Not only is it hard to get to, but it's at the floor level, so it's not easy on the back either. You need to sit on the ground or hunch over. Very poor design.
Did you really just try to justify the neglect this machine is seeing? You can't defend lazy people. Yes lazy! If you don't take the time to learn how to maintain your purchases, it's no one's fault but your own. If anyone believes this filter system is as difficult as changing a vehicles oil, they are not only lazy, but idiots. Shame on you for stating something so ridiculous.
@TheEightball3000 I do repairs of computers and other things for a living. This is not user friendly at all... not only is it a pain to do, you also need a tray or you end up with water all over your floor... it's not even designed well to put a container under for draining. Are you seriously defending this poor design? At the very least, the decorative cover should be a flap or very easy to pull off and put back.
@ItsBinhRepaired Please show me anything humans have designed that didn't have a flaw....😂. I have one of these machines, and I stand behind what I said. I never said the design couldn't use improvement, but it's not in any way difficult to maintain it. I'm directly critical of you not being honest about the absolute neglect of this machine and then blaming product design. I see you missed my point or chose to ignore it. I won't even mention that floor.
@TheEightball3000 imagine if every time your phone ran out of charge, you'd have to open today's modern smartphone to swap a battery... that's the equivalence of this stupid design... it's more hassle to maintain it than it is to do the laundry itself... you expect people to do that? Most people don't read the manuals. Products need to be designed to be intuitive. Did you know it's bad to charge your phone to 100%? Did you know you shouldn't leave it plugged in? Did you know draining it to 0% is really bad for it? People don't read manuals on how to maintain their stuff...
I checked it wasn't down too far. I noticed it didn't smell when I immediately took the filter out so I decided to just take the filter out until I use it again. I bought new foam filters so it didn't smell when I put it in. You don't seem to get the lint buildup th as t I do on the coils
That machine is filthy.... No wonder some people are having issues with these machines. The filter and the surrounding interior area needs to be throughly cleaned after each load. Thats the only way you're going to help reduce the chances of lint getting to the coil causing clogs and potential failures before you know it.
It's due to a heavily shedding dog and the lint from the clothes... the outside of the machine plays no roll in the lint filter and drain filters getting clogged...
@@ItsBinhRepaired There's a weird cavity in the filter housing, at the end of the filter. It allows lint to get past the filter screen. It exists because, according to GE, they had to put the cavity there to satisfy the ADA because without it the ADA thought it took too much muscle to pull the filter out. The useless cavity was the fix. That's why these filter modifications showing up online include a piece of foam on the end of the filter screen to fill that cavity. Hopefully GE will just redesign the filter screen to take care of that issue. Also, it's best to leave the filter screen out of the machine while not in use so the filter housing can dry out before each use. If it stays damp, lint builds up inside and gets moldy like moldy clothes.
NO way you are cleaning that filter as often as you are supposed to. Mine NEVER has that much on it. You have to clean that thing EVERY time. We have 4 cats and a pitbull and never had that much crap in the filter after one use. That said - even though I clean the filter every load I STILL have to take a shop vac to it ever 3-4 days because the design of this unit sucks. If you have ANY pets, don't waste your money on this machine. This unit is a PITA.
@Mike-vh5vy every time?! Lol that's not what the instructions say. My friend has a Belgian shepherd. He sheds like mad. You get tumbleweeds every day lol
These are awful. Cleaning the drain pan was horrible. The amount of water that came out was unmanageable. I'll never buy this machine ever again. It's toooo high maintenance! It's always something.
This guy is clueless. I have this machine. I can tell you his won't last another year, if he's lucky. The machine is filthy and he clearly has not read the manual. He should just go to the laundry mat. Why spend all that money if you're not going to take the time to maintain the machine, When he pulled that lint screen out I gasped in horror. Pro-top, don't drill holes in the pump filter plug.
I meant GE not LG lol Sorry

I clean my filter and let everything dry. It smells clean. Then I put it in and use it once and it smells bad again. Really frustrating
Check if the hose is too far down the black water tube.
