don't worry about these misses. I stopped hunting around 16 and didn't start again until I was 45. Getting out with the dogs and watching them work is the best part for me anyway. Looks like it was a fun trip.

Shooting the pump doesn’t make it easier unless you spent a lot of time shooting a pump .
