My only issue with using a rifle for self defense is the overwhelming potential for over penetration. Including use of a shotgun. All weapons are great tools to use for protecting life or limb. Whether of yourself or others. It's just a lawyer is attached to every bullet or projectile that leaves that barrel with high velocity. I don't mean to be a party pooper. But, you will always find yourself in between a rock and a hard place. Nobody asks to get attacked by criminals. But there you are, trying to make an undesirable choice, or, a choice that you rather not make. All because someone else put you in that position. So my choice is to use a handgun at very close range.
I have heard far too many excuses that criminals that cause crimes, are shown to look like victims.
