what a great park, love the maple camp ground for myself and dog beach for the dog, nice that they have small watercraft retals. Loved this off to driftwood with ya. Ontario, Canada
Thanks for your great review! Six Mile Lake was the first park my husband and I camped in together. We haven't been back in over ten years, and thanks to your review we've booked it, and we are taking our 4 y/o here on his second ever camping trip. Love your videos and watching all your adventures!
We're glad this helped. Your son will love the beach and playground and you and your husband will be able to relive old memories while making new ones.
Thank you for checking out six mile lake for us. We are definitely going to hit this campground up next summer. Only 2 hours from us so the kids won't go to crazy on the drive. And it gives me mini grundy lake vibes, which is one of my favorite campgrounds. I can't wait to see what driftwood brings!❤
Thanks for another comprehensive review. I’ve been hesitant due to the proximity to the 400, but after this review, I think it’s definitely doable for 2-3 nights. The dog beach is the best I’ve seen.
Great review! This is 1 of many Ontario Parks I pass on the way south to visit family. Now it’s just to make time to plan when to go!! I love the fact they have paddle boats!, not many OPs have this option.
We love watching all of your video's. I'm wondering if you could talk about camping with your dog. We take our guy everywhere but find it does limit the things we can do, like the winery visit you mentioned in this video. What do you do with Jax where there is something you and Cheryl want to do together? Do you plan your activities around being dog friendly? Where is he when you go out for a bike ride? Thanks!
I was just here this weekend and did the "Learn to Fish" program fishing lesson Saturday morning. They seemed pretty organized. The first half is a one hour presentation lesson on things like the fishing regulations in Ontario, the types of fish in the lake you are at, how to tie a hook to your fishing line, how to cast, etc. Then you fish off the one dock for one hour in the second half of the lesson. The water is shallow there so the fish are not too big. I caught two fish and took a picture with my first "monster" catch. I think it is a worthwhile thing to do at this park or any other park that has the Learn to Fish program, whether you are looking to get into fishing or just something to do while at the park.
That's awesome! I'm glad you took advantage of that program. We've seen people doing it at other parks and it seems like a very worthwhile program. Thanks for letting us know how it went.
Can't wait to see all of the reviews. My friends and I were going to go there many years ago decided on a different park when friends thought there were not enough washrooms. Good to see there are a lot of opinions.
Great review, the 8 seemed a little generous but really looking forward to seeing the other 4 park reviews. Haven’t been to any of these parks so should be very helpful. Thanks
Went to Six Mile about 2 years ago. Stayed only one night. The tent caterpillars were so overwhelming we left after lunch on Saturday. We spent most of Saturday morning sweeping the caterpillars off our equipment. Could hardly eat our as they were dropping out of the trees. Wish the park had mentioned this in the alert section. Can happen in any park but not one of us will ever return to that park. Lol
Yikes! That one year we heard about the caterpillar invasions at a bunch of parks. We were lucky and missed it everywhere we went. It sounds horrible and we're so glad we missed it.
Did you make a video when choosing / buying your RV? I would love to know why you picked that brand, what stood out with it over other RV brands, how long you’ve had it and what you had before.. We just spent months looking at the different types of RV’s..
We bought the RV in 2017 and didn't start our RUclips channel until 2019. We fell in love with it at the Toronto RV show in 2013 and it became our dream trailer. In 2017 we found out that the model was being discontinued and we got the last new one in Canada. Big must haves for us was dual axle, tip out bed for when our adult kids wanted to come along, slide out and a fully functional trailer when the slide out is in. Some slideouts, when in, block access to the bathroom or bedroom. Before this one we had a 2004 Starcraft Travelstar 19CK. It was our first trailer and we bought it used in 2010. It was a nice little trailer that we really enjoyed.
Just got back today! Had the site right beside yours, it has been one of our favourites. If you get a chance, go back to see the Big Chute Marine Lock, very impressive!!
That's a nice big site. Our friends, Sue & John had that site. We liked having the campfire there. We had the marine lock on our list of things to do but we ran out of time. I guess we'll have to go back and check it out.
I last camped at Six Mile Lake in 2018. We had one of the sites in the Pine area. When we came back from our "fudgie run" (ice cream treat) there was a lot of commotion at the site next to us. a bear had walked on their site!
That would be exciting. We rarely see bears or moose. Pine campground was really loud for highway noise and seemed to not have a lot of privacy. We really liked where we were in Birch.
Great looking park.. like your driving clips as well.. We live in Burlington and I know the area you guys are from.. Do you avoid that 400.. We love near north camping but always look for an alternative to the 400
We try to avoid the 400 and 401 as much as possible. When going up north we take sideroads for as far as possible before getting on the 400 from Horseshoe Valley Rd just north of Barrie. It adds some time to the drive but makes it so much more enjoyable and relaxing.
I noticed several empty sites as you were going through. Does that mean sites are easier to get this year or it isnt a popular park. Wehave never been there. We are bookedfor fall camping as we are camping down east right now.
When we record the campsite we usually do it in the afternoon during the turnover of sites. People pack up and leave and the new people haven't arrived yet. We prefer to show the empty sites so you can see them and to not bother or freak out the people when they see us filming their sites. Parks seem to be as busy as always.
does Mikisew still have the "Candy Man" he use to ring a bell certain times during the day kids would come running and they would hand out candies to us kids...i did hear about 7yrs ago that the son took over the "Candy Man"
Have a stupid question….lol what do you mean by barrier free????? Also after your time at these sites,,do you empty your water tank for travelling , and than fill up at next park
Barrier Free is the term the parks use which essentially means wheelchair accessible. We always empty our tanks for travel because if we didn't we would be over our weight limit. A full tank of water for us equals 400 pounds. When we fill up at a park we only drive with that weight for a short distance to our site then unhook allowing the tongue jack and stabilizer jacks to support some of the weight.
I don't think we'll ever do all the provincial parks. We will do more conservation areas in the future. We did a review of Valens Conservation Area in Season 3 and we will be doing a review of Rockwood Conservation Area later this season.
Sorry, but we are already back from our 5 park trip. I'm now in the process of putting all the videos together. Mikisew was awesome. We had a great time. Have fun there.
We always passed by it, not going there because it was so close to the 400 but we stayed for 4 nights and it's not a bad destination park. You must be getting real excited to try out the new rig. You'll be fall camping in style.
Perfect. I don't like those big gourmet burgers that you have to unhinge your jaw to take a bite and McDonalds burgers barely fill a tooth cavity. Superburgers are great.
Enjoy all your reviews. Keep them coming pls. Sorry this is probably the worst provincial park that I have experienced. Small sites no privacy. Too close to the city for my liking. Just my opinion. Love your videos
Thanks for your input. This park is certainly not to everyone's liking. We had low expectations but were pleasantly surprised and didn't mind it at all.
Hi guys, could you possibly tell me if a good portable charging station to get. I was late in booking this year and had to settle for a non electric site. We have a tent and my daughter and I need one for our cellphones and her switch. I have no idea about wattages and how many hrs per whatt. I’m really hoping you could maybe give me an idea of what to look for. Thanks a million❤️🫶🏻 love your reviews by the way, I watch em all the time.
It sounds like you don't need a lot of power so you can get away with a pretty small power station. I would think something like the Bluetti AC2A would be good for a few days. If you needed to recharge it you could plug in at the comfort station or you could get a solar panel for it. Here is the link shrsl.com/4kfg2

What does barrier free mean?
Barrier free is what used to called handicap accessible or wheelchair accessible.
Did you say you had campsite 202?
We forgot to record our campsite at this park. We didn't even say what site we had. The brain's turning to mush in old age.
What do you mean when you say “barrier free”?
Barrier free is the term that Ontario Parks uses meaning the same as accessible or handicap accessible or wheelchair accessible.
They still doing drive by patrolling at night in trucks? When i went in 2021, they had they're high beams on doing their patrol was annoying.
Didn't notice any night patrols. That would be annoying though, especially if tenting.
