@@joannamchale4279 Rogers is very weak. I found it very slow at times trying to even get on the weather app. But it will work. Texts come in, and Messenger texts as well.
Thank you for the updated review. I have it on my return bucket list. I was there last year for 3 nights. Unfortunately it rained most of the time. I will be back. I really enjoyed it.
great video! You both did a fabulous job showing what Mikisew Provincial Park offers. Hopefully next summer we can make a trip up north to this beautiful park.
Thanks for the review. We head there this coming Wednesday and can't wait. Stopped by the store last year while at Restoule they make great pizza. While at the store noticed how beautiful the lake was and decided wanted to give Mikisew a try
We enjoyed this park when my kids were 8 and 6, we stayed i the hardwood campgrounds. Its a great little park for families as its easy to get around, short walks to the lake. There is a big rock in Hardwood that the kids sit on, climb up on and talk. The wind picked up on the day we decided to canoe and we had to go back but it looks fun to canoe/kayak around all thise rocks. When I was there the outhouse was heavily used and quite smelly. But to be expected when the comfort station isn't close and its a vault toilet.
Another informative and fun video! We have enjoyed Mikisew as well! We just experienced Bonnachere this week, thanks to your rewiew! It is a family friendly park! Just wondering, with your love of the pines, how do you clean up all the sap on Jaks and the awnings etc! We were in the pines, and had sap on everything! Perhaps it was worse due to the heat! Thanks! You both do a great job!
Yeah, the sap is a problem especially in the warmer weather. It's hard to get off. On Jax we use hand sanitizer or cut it out. On the truck and trailer awning I try to scrape it off as carefully as possible with a knife.
Another awesome review really like what one can do at the park , I think id choose the hardwood campground , But do like the pines . Loving your reviews they are very helpful in trying to choose a park. Ontario,,, canada .
Was just here. Really liked it and probably deserves to be talked about more when people talk about the great parks in Ontario. While here I went to Crystal Cave and Crystal Shoppe in South River. That is a neat and unique place. Exhibit of largest private collection of rocks and minerals in Canada with accompanying store if you want to buy some rocks/minerals or stuff made from it (if you have never been).
Thank you for another informative video. I agree, Northern Parks are the best. I liked how you showed the park firewood shed and campsites. I prefer privacy, I enjoy feeling like I am camping in the woods.
We discovered Mikisew by "accident" a few years ago when we could not get a reservation at a couple of our other favourite parks...and I'm so grateful for it! Love Mikisew, and the new fenced-in dog beach area is a fabulous addition (just like at Restoule). Thank you for a great review of a great park :)
It's great to discover new places by accident. We've found that you might have a park that you love going to but take a chance and try a new park. You might just find your new favorite park.
@@CampingwiththeColes I think you would like it! Challenging hikes with lookouts. Nice beach area. Picnic tables along the beach. Good cycling around the campground itself and 1 cycling trail along the lakefront. Went to the A.Y. Jackson Lookout, accomplished a 2 km hike to the bridge. Nice camp store. Kayak and canoe rentals. Comfort stations were kept clean. Our site was gravel and sand. Privacy was excellent and quiet. Good playground for children. Volleyball net.
My wife and I love your videos, they are well done! This summer visit a few provincials park that you guys recommend but we did it in a tent. Next year we want to do in a travel trailer but we would like to know about RV insurance and how it’s works went the trailer is in storage? Thank you in advance and keep the good work !
Thanks so much. Some insurance companies want you to have the travel trailer on your home insurance and on your auto insurance. They say that when it's hooked up to your tow vehicle it is covered by auto insurance and when it's not hooked up it's covered by home insurance. We picked a company that insures everything to do with the trailer separate from our other policies. Check around and see what works for you.
Hello Ben and Cheryl. Just finished a 3 week, 4 P.P. trip. It was great! One problem though. Mikisew did not have a threaded end on the black tank flush nor on the fresh water fill. I can do with the fresh water but not the black water flush. How do I or other campers clean there tanks? Help with any suggestions.
If there isn't a threaded hose we just dump water from a 5 gallon jug down the toilet. We open the valve in the toilet and pour it down. It goes down with a lot more power than a flush. We might do that a couple of times. A couple gallons at a time. If you have a clear section on your sewer hose you'll see that it does a pretty good job getting out some more stuff.
Another great helpful review, do you always camp with other couples? We are soon to be empty nesters.......and how cold is the water for swimming, if you did in these “northern “ parks?
We often camp with other couples. We have a lot of camping friends that we've been camping with as families since our kids were little. We've kept on camping with them over the years. Water for swimming is fine in the northern parks that have small bodies of water. Mikisew water was a great temp for swimming. Georgian bay can get pretty cold and Lake Superior is usually cold to the extreme. Thanks for watching and happy camping.
We haven't tried that yet. I don't think we have the room at home for any more camping equipment like a hot tent. Cheryl won't let me get rid of anything, even if we haven't used it in 20 years.
I’ve been waiting for your updated review of this park. It’s been on our need to try list for a few years now but hasn’t worked out yet. It looks like a beautiful park. I’ve heard it’s gotten a lot busier than it used to be how did you find it compared to the last time you went?
That's a good question. We are very fortunate with Jax. He is a young, energetic dog but once we wear him out a bit he's fine to stay in the trailer and nap. The first couple of times we left him in the trailer we were nearby to listen for him and I set up a camera inside so I could check on him. The next few times we had friends camping next to us and I asked them to keep an ear open for him and he was quiet. So we feel comfortable leaving him for short periods of time. We always give him a good walk or time at a leash free area to wear him out beforehand. The parks discourage people from leaving pets unattended. If they are going to bark, then don't leave them alone.
Murphy's Point is a great park song the way. Nice lakes for paddling, a couple little beaches and a Mica Mine you can tour. Here is a link to our video review of it: ruclips.net/video/DQCI3eF3rOw/видео.htmlsi=Cbgiy481f5YfrE2o
We just came back from Mikisew and it was disgusting! Most of the bathrooms were not usable, and it was so crowded and noisy. We ended up packing up early and left in the night. I am not sure why people drive so far north to be so disrespectful.
Wow, what a surprise. Both times we were there it was great. Sorry to hear about your experience. It's a shame when people don't respect the parks and respect other people.
