Prestige M48 - Testing in STEEP WAVES - Part 1

- Steep waves with a short period can be the most uncomfortable conditions to drive in a boat so in this video we test the Prestige M48 in 1 - 2m of steep waves with a very short period between them.
As I was spending the weekend in a Prestige 680 it was very surprising to discover the master cabin on this 50ft boat competes with the master on a 680!
If you have Med cruising in mind this boat could be a very interesting option for you to consider! Caribbean too!
Join me for this opportunistic test which came about thanks to the great team from Ancasta Marine in the Balearic Islands. After spending 4 days with Matt and his crew and understanding how well set up they are in this part of the world I would not hesitate to recommend speaking with these guys if Med cruising is on your bucket list!
What an amazing destinaiton to escape the Southern Hemisphere winter and with a boat like this you have space and privacy for all your guests.
Please Enjoy.

LOVE BIG WAVE TESTING!!!!!!
Sea keeper is a must
Billings Montana.
Not much boating here.
WHO RAISED YOU!?
Your so perfect for what you do.
Always enjoy your demos
LUKE TWENTYONE THIRTYSIX
Nice. Really good drone work. Would like to have seen you set a course and tap the autopilot. Let her run. No steering. Like you would if you were travelling.
Good point, i'll remember that for next time!
I wish you could get your hands on an Aspen CAT C107 for a review. You are one of the best online reviewers out there. Ii also like Capt. Steve from Boat Test.
Just tell the boat brands that you watch my channel as the more they hear about me the easier it will be for me to get on the boats and test them for you. I have been asked to drive a new power catamaran from New Zealand back 1,100NM back to Sydney next year which i'll start planning for in summer. It's a Kiwi built boat so you'll be seeing that eventually and hopefully ore power cats in time.
Going Thursday
Looks like a lot of sneezing-water being ejected forward between the hulls. Wonder what that sounded like inside
Yes into the swells correct. I think I mentioned in the video that I would avoid running into the swells in short sharp conditions like we had on the day and instead its wiser to pick your lines for a faster and more comfortable ride. Running across and with it the boat was much happier to get into a groove.
Why didn't you show us sound levels and slamming from below;)
I was too busy helming upstairs and it wasn't safe for me to climb down underway. I do try to do that whenever I'm able to as I know it's important.
Like a dagger through the water. She is a bouncy, flouncy, trouncy thing but a wholte lotta fun, I wonder if she's the only one? (Extra points if you know where that comes from,- don't tell Dan)

Is the bow thruster on the port side ama?
Yes it was
So much nicer to be in a chop when you ar on a tall cat. No constant salt spray as you see in a sailing cat with front nets.
Need to put a sea keeper on it.
I’ve never tried a sea keeper on a cat?
Find space to install sea keeper
Sea keeper needed
Would that work on a cat? I've not tested a cat with a Seakeeper.
Not necessary at rest but I wonder how that would work underway?
does not seem like an easy ship yo steer. i could also see myself being rapidly seasick
Correct, she's best suited to protected or calmer conditions. But if you pick your lines right you can get along ok. This would be fine in the Med... probably not my first choice for Australia though. The layout and space aboard is very impressive however so I can see many benefits there.
where were the steep waves? little more than wind blown chop.
Always hard to show the true conditions on camera. They were very short period waves up to 2m.
Way too top heavy. That think looks like a cork bobbing up and down. No thank you.
Yes it won't please everyone this boat, but I can see the positives too when you pick your conditions correctly. Down and across swells she runs fine. The amount of space onboard is amazing at anchor.
There are lots of other test drives on the Internet too. Talk less. Your videos will do better.
