  • OBT Rehouse gone wrong part 2 - removing Tarantula mites!
    Today we continue our OBT rehouse video with part 2 and remove parasitic mites from our Tarantula! please do not try this yourselves guys if you do not have the correct advice from someone with plenty of experience and know what you are doing! I felt comfortable taking these steps to remove the mites from my tarantula.
    Some people may not agree with this method but with my experience from doing so and the advice from other experienced keepers who walked me through the process have has positive results. This was in the best interest of my Tarantula and has displayed positive results.

    Know the process you mean glad it worked and I would do the same and agree wouldn't put it on here as can easily go wrong had them on a blue fang a year ago but for some reason she let me touch her to remove them but each individual different

    Great job! How on earth did you keep her still whilst you removed those mites (is there a video)?
    My OBT is a lot calmer than yours but I still wouldn’t want my fingers cue-tip length from her. These are some advanced keeper skills I need to learn! Great content. 🙂👍🏻🕷🕷

      Hey thank you! Im glad you enjoy the content, it is a tricky process and one that i have briefly talked about but havent shared the footage as if not done correctly could result in a bite or even harm to the tarantula. If you send me a message on facebook or email alternative.inverts@gmail.com ill be happy to share more info on this for you :D 🤟🤟

      @@AlternativeInverts I saw the mites on her you did a fabulous job saving her thank you for answering my question I was unsure if you had to clean the substrate after she was out of the enclosure for so long

    • @AlternativeInverts
      @AlternativeInverts  3 года назад +1

      No probpem buddy :) because it was dry potentially not as the mites need moisture but just for the cost of a bit of soil its worth changing just to be on the safe side :) :)

    Won't predator mites and/or springtails help remove those tarantula mites?

    • @AlternativeInverts
      @AlternativeInverts  3 года назад +2

      They can help yes, however there is no guarentee on how long it will take and or if they will get them all and stop the spread to other enclosures. I think its best to get them all asap to reduce risks :)
