We flew from Sydney - Manchester via Abu Dhabi on Etihad. The food portions were small, they mixed up our seats and the IFE wasn’t working at all on the Sydney - Abu Dhabi leg.
Food is extremely disappointing for such a long flight in my opinion, i mean the food portions and choices seemed very ordinary and less attractive and there weren’t any desserts offered with the meals if i remember correctly something we usually see with most of the competitive airliners these days, very disappointed with Etihad Airways and would avoid this airline at all costs for such long haul flights.
Lost_Gelinkt Well if you’re going to bring such a lame comparison to my point please don’t even bother saying anything i would suggest, and how about you go do a little research on how this airline food and service rating is considered worldwide and how it gets handled and rated from lower to higher standards being awarded to different airliners of the world and the lets talk we all know this isn’t restaurant but trust me these international airliners are nothing less when it comes to providing some very high quality service and food to its passengers.

If this is the current standard of Etihad in its economy class, I realize that it has dropped a lot: in 2014 I traveled from Guarulhos to Abu-Dhabi and Bangkog-Abu-Dhabi and I remember very well that the cutlery was made of stainless steel and the glasses were made of glass! Also the presentation of the lunch tray (and other meals) was more abundant.
That’s why I NEVER do Etihad for long haul. My LAX-UAE flights have always been on Emirates. 3 full meals + snacks + amenity kits + always asking for extra food, all the free alcohol + baggage + ICE.. it’s a win win imo
I have never flown with Etihad but have flown with Emirates many times, on the San Francisco Dubai Mumbai route and I vouch for Emirates. It never disappoints. The planes are always the new Airbus A 380 which are quieter. And more to the point, Emirates serve three full meals during a sixteen hour flight to Dubai, without charging extra. The only inconvenience is the near 5pm departure time from SFO and near 5am from Mumbai. But the rest is flawless. On my last flight I got a free upgrade to Business class and it was like heaven.

I’ve flown Etihad three times and they are not a bad airline. I’ve had a pleasant experience with them. Don’t understand why they receive so much negativity, their cabins and service are good.
the meal size perhaps depends on the catering service at the departure airport. I used Etihad some months ago from Jakarta-Abu dhabi-Paris, and they served a big meal.
I flew Etihad on Business several times. SIN-FRA, ICN-CDG, BRU-ICN. Here what I do, ask for more. Second time. And surprisingly they will bring you. And my favourite way, go to the galley and chit chat. They also like a passnger is appreciating their job. And have nice time enjoying Business class food. Yes they can bring anything anywhere. And if you are lucky, you may cross path with cabin crew head. PS: From my experiences.
@@fabriziom nope. Not every passenger is same. And yes they did have extra food for long haul flights. Now in future I dont know what will happen. So it is not for use.
Etihat used to have good service, flew them to India once. The only complaint at the time was the leg room. However now I will avoid flying them. Plus it’s semi scary to be in a Middle Eastern country.
I flew Etihad's A340-600 from KWI to AUH back in 2008 when I was in the military on combat leave, and it was a great experience. It was a free for all, and I had an entire row to myself across the entire cabin (20% load factor) I thought at the time that an A321 would've made a lot more sense for that particular flight, but it seems that wastefulness caught up to them eventually.
Having used both Emirates & Qatar on long haul recently I've often wondered about Etihad. Tbf, based on this I'll not be using them anytime soon. It didn't look *terrible*, just very, very basic for long haul on a middle eastern carrier. I'd say in Economy Gulf & Oman have overtaken them in terms of quality & service lately?
bandar bhai as of now, this economy product is only on the 777. The Dreamliner and A380s have the new cabin product which is far more superior in my opinion. Look it up
I’m not sure of the foundation for the criticism, here! I did a return journey from Heathrow to Indonesia, with a refuelling stop in Abu Dhabi at the beginning of 2019 and found the Airline, it’s Staff, it’s food and all other facilities excellent!
I flew Etihad recently, in economy. SYD-AUD in an A380, followed by AUH-AMS in a 777. I had never flown Etihad before and was aware of its financial problems. I had recently flown in an LH A380 from FRA to SIN, and it was better. But both Etihad flights were fine. The flight attendants were friendly, the food was ok, the ife was good, and the seats, including the legroom, were comfortable. I am very tall but had plenty of legroom. Since then, I have flown Qatar Airways, also for the first time, from Europe to Australia. Qatar was fine, too, but a little sterile and lacking in character. I preferred Etihad.
U should really compare this to the new saudia airlines, when I was once on a flight to geneva on economy on the A320, the business class had seats from a larger aircraft like the A330 and the economy class seats were comfy and even though the seats were different, even though u were in economy the flight attendants still treated u like a business class passenger
Etihad lost 1.8 billion dollars in 2016 which affected the airline greatly. They had to let go some pilots, cut food portions and end routes that weren’t that much profitable. In 2019, they were making progress to come back up from that debacle. Etihad is in a struggle, but maybe, just maybe in a few years or so, they might become a good airline with it.
The catering was indeed meagre for such a long journey. I would've made up the short fall by loading up on the sandwiches and other offerings in the galley. Very well produced trip report. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
I flew Etihad from Dallas/Ft Worth to Abu Dhabi where i Lived for 2 years. I flew Etihad from Abu Dhabi several times to the Philippines in Business class, the flights were good but their seats are hard.
I went on a new Etihad a380 a few weeks ago, and it was really modern and nice. Im suprised it used to be like this, because i really enjoyed my flight.
I remember going to a fast food joint in LA many years ago. All employees there were Hispanics. After ordering my meal I had a question that was unrelated to my order. The lady did not understand a word of English!
Maybe I am missing something, but why did that flight follow such a circuitous route? It was such an enormous arc. Never having flown Ethihad,I doubt whether I'd want to now! My heart goes out to you for such an uncomfortable and dreary flight.
It’s quicker to fly than far north, because it’s actually a shorter distance. If you use google earth, and drop a pin at LAX, and measure the distance to Abu Dhabi, you’ll see how far nor you actually go.
I flew Ethiad, Bangkok - Abu Dhabi ........ I was excited for it because I have flown Emirates before and was expecting a similar experience.... Oh boy was I wrong.
Okay so the Etihad 777-200s (the one flown in this video) are more outdated and not as good as the new a380s. That is one of the reasons for the poor space and seating, but the food, I have no idea why it is like this. However, on the a380s, economy is really good and the meals are actually quite good. In business class, the seats are massive for what you’re paying, you get full sized meals for free, and you can order it whenever you want. In my opinion, Etihad is really good, but it depends on where you’re flying to and from so that you get the right plane and also your budget, because obviously, business is going to be better than economy.
Honestly at the beginning I thought this guy was biased. But when I watched the whole video, you are 200% right. I wouldn't expect such meager service from Etihad.
Flew etihad for the first time this january... was kinda surprised at how low budget it felt after watching videos of the residence a while ago. It's not the worse thing though. At the very least it does offer a proper power outlet, which turkish airline didn't. Cabin crew was nice enough.

When i flew with them from Heathrow to Abu Dhabi on their a380, i absolutely loved it, leg room was decent but the food and entertainment system was really good imo, even their smaller flights from Abu Dhabi to cochin were decent for the price.
They don't even have any A380s
@@DrLifeGamer they did before they retired them during the pandemic
Here what I do, ask for more. Second time.
And surprisingly they will bring you.
And my favourite way, go to the galley and chit chat.
They also like a passnger is appreciating their job. And have nice time enjoying Business class food. Yes they can bring anything anywhere.
And if you are lucky, you may cross path with cabin crew head.
PS: From my experiences.
Imagine 200 pax doing the same!
@@fabriziom lol.
@@mihir5451 😁 now you gave the tip so... 😇
A bit disappointed by the food portion size....😒
The serve you the minimum size meal they can to make sure you'll fork out a few $ to supplement it…
The catering in Economy is disappointing😶
American Airlines still better
yeah.. very disappounted on this Eco service. by the way may i ask if the ticket is cheap? if cheap maybe thats the reason....
Look it up
@1 you can have your own opinion on their newer product but you can’t say it’s the same because it simply isn’t
I’m not sure of the foundation for the criticism, here! I did a return journey from Heathrow to Indonesia, with a refuelling stop in Abu Dhabi at the beginning of 2019 and found the Airline, it’s Staff, it’s food and all other facilities excellent!
Maybe its founded on the fact that its small entree portion and no cheese, crackers, butter, dessert or salad like in 99% of the other airlines.
1:21 "Smoking is permitted in designated areas only" irresistibly brings to mind Airplane! ...
03:11 the bus driver 😂😂😂😂😂 bob marley 😂😂😂😂
U should really compare this to the new saudia airlines, when I was once on a flight to geneva on economy on the A320, the business class had seats from a larger aircraft like the A330 and the economy class seats were comfy and even though the seats were different, even though u were in economy the flight attendants still treated u like a business class passenger
these meals are a joke. especially for a 16 hour flight!!
Oh my, I thought Ethiad was the nicest airline but no I was wrong they are like easyjet or Ryanair but long haul
Yeah but at least in Ryanair and Easyjet you already know that you are boarding a low cost airline...
Etihad still is. Trust me.
I don't think they're THAT bad, they're just nowhere near the elite level they once were at
The catering was indeed meagre for such a long journey. I would've made up the short fall by loading up on the sandwiches and other offerings in the galley. Very well produced trip report. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
16:14 Some say he's still struggling to eat the pasta to this day
I flew Etihad from Seoul to Abu Dhabi two years ago, and was surprised that dinner consisted of just cup ramen noodles.
You are so proffessional in your reviews, good for you. Keep up the good content!
I flew Etihad from Dallas/Ft Worth to Abu Dhabi where i Lived for 2 years. I flew Etihad from Abu Dhabi several times to the Philippines in Business class, the flights were good but their seats are hard.
Hey Felix! When I "grow up" I want to travel like you .. :D
I flew Etihad last week, Abu Dhabi to Mumbai.
Flight was good , in flight entertainment was fune and the food was great.
Dang etihad making some weird cuts. Great insight into the airline. Awesome review as always
I went on a new Etihad a380 a few weeks ago, and it was really modern and nice. Im suprised it used to be like this, because i really enjoyed my flight.
Emirates, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines beat Etihad anyday
True
Tanmay Bhakta yeah they will Ana airways is rank 1st
True, and so does Swiss
@@K4Ediamond swiss is a good european airline, but it cant compare with Emirates or Qatar or Singapore
Ryanair Beats Etihad
1:49 as a spaniard I'm surprised to hear spanish announcements at LAX airport! Damn I never thought it was such a bilingual place
Walking around in LA you'll hear as much spanish as english. It used to be Mexico after all
You should read som history about LA it is way more spanish that you should think.
Pero vives en una
burbuja macho? Los Angeles está lleno de Mexicanos literalmente xD
I remember going to a fast food joint in LA many years ago. All employees there were Hispanics. After ordering my meal I had a question that was unrelated to my order. The lady did not understand a word of English!
Un avatar escrito en hebreo exige que alguien otro escriba en inglés. ¡Que hipócrita!
@@schumi246 Thank you!
Been bringing food with me on flights and the sorry amount offered on this flight shows again why that's a good idea.
Also, when the Delta plane passes by at 3:05, the US flag is reversed.
Nothing new, it's I'm reverse because the stars have to be in front. You can see this for example also on the cars of F1 Team Haas.
Just a lil question, Why did the plane go North due Canada-Russia if they can instead go east directly to Abu Dhabi?
it sounds strange but this route is quicker and better for fuel
Legroom looks bad, you probably could ask for more food.
I like your style, no talking, no shit, just pure aviation ..
Watching this I will never fly Etihad the pretend airline :P
I flew Ethiad, Bangkok - Abu Dhabi ........ I was excited for it because I have flown Emirates before and was expecting a similar experience.... Oh boy was I wrong.
Me when I ride an airline that has an In-flight Entertainment :
*LETS SEE IF WE HAVE MATILDA*
Etihad: nope! : )
Some years ago Etihads service still was better, with some actual meals and not just like "snacks"....
I flew Etihad 3 years ago and they were good looks like they have gone down quite a bit.
Let's take time to pray for Thomas Cook and all its employees, here's to clear blue skies for Thomas Cook
And just remind me , what is praying going to achieve ? . What a juvenile suggestion of yours .
@@davidcartwright5591 anything
Honestly at the beginning I thought this guy was biased. But when I watched the whole video, you are 200% right. I wouldn't expect such meager service from Etihad.
Wow,those passengers dont give a damn and its litter everywhere..
Flew etihad for the first time this january... was kinda surprised at how low budget it felt after watching videos of the residence a while ago. It's not the worse thing though. At the very least it does offer a proper power outlet, which turkish airline didn't. Cabin crew was nice enough.
Well David you know much better than us but v have enjoyed a lot the arctic the Norway ,moscow
Nice video mate, I really enjoy your channel. It's fantastic that you do this so I don't have to try and guess which airlines are good and which ones I should avoid.
Top work mate!!!
