the downside with this is you cant slow walk with heavy resistance . you have to move it fast for it to give you more resistance. i like to do muscle endurance drills with say 180 lbs or 4 plates on it super super slow. Also, you can't do any pivoting drills/exercises with it. You're limited to forward and backwards/left and right only.
I got some scrap wood, a metal chair leg to stack plates on, two more to push on and built a sled. Cost literally nothing and is a beast. Save your money and buy good food. Namaste x
The biggest loss of functionality i think is not being able to use a harness for sprints, which Torque doesn't recommend using as the front wheel is likely to come off the ground. But given all the benefits of quiet sled work in the neighborhood, reduced cost and wall storage (especially since I'm trying to contain all my equipment in one stall of my garage), I'm more than pleased with its flexibility and current set of features. Of course I'd welcome a display to track activity.
Is there a way to rig a harness on the two-wheeled side of the sled so that you can do sprints? I really like the idea of doing the sprints, but the easy storage and small footprint is essential for my garage gym space.
Great review, as far as the handles go... Would be only take 5$ and 3 min to drill a hole for each to install hitch pins on the handles. As far as the front wheel coming up, a harness with a longer rope will flatten the angle and greatly prevent upward pull on the wheel. How long would be needed and is it practical?...IDK but an 8-10 foot section should be reasonable and help a ton. In addition to that you strap a heavier dumbell to that handle above the wheel to add a bunch of down force. Obviously just make sure you use a secure means so it doesn't fall off and smash the wheel housing.
@@GarageGymLab Ill have to wait to get one for myself but as an engineer and metal fab guy, pretty sure i can make something to go on the front to support weight as well if needed. Id probably experiment with strapping a weight 1st on the front handle to at least see how much weight would be needed. Maybe just leave it at that if it works well enough. i think between that and a little longer rope should be G2G
I like a good way to measure things, if I use the sled I know what weight Ive moved over time. Seems like I wouldnt know if I incrementally worked more or less with these machines?
Hey Garage Gym Lab, appreciate the review! I am curious about wear and tear on that front wheel. Does it last a decent amount of time or does it need to be replaced every so often, and at what cost? Thanks!
Your display could incorporate RPM's from any of the wheels, watts by incorporating strain gauge(s) (most expensive sensor) to measure deflection created by your push/pull action, and resistance tied into your N, 1, 2, 3 setting, and speed from hub sensor.
Yeah, it looks like hills will be needed for additional resistance. I like the M1 as well, it gives you 50% of the resistance the M4 does, but still alot per dollar
Well that sucks. I was going to get one thinking I did not have to load it with plates since it has the magnetic resistance:( I will just stick with my regular sled and I will just add skids to bottom to protect concrete.
someone else reviewed and did the pulling with a waist belt, and he put a kettle bell on it and did not have problem with the wheel 'hopping'. Tbh, waist belt is best way to do pulling b/c you can better focus all effort on the knees and quads (which are the main beneficiaries) and it's a steadier movement, less likely to lead to wheel-hop.

I will get mine in 2 weeks but was in touch with some people in the atg coaching community. You definitely need at least 2 x 45lb plates on it and additional weight attached to the pulling lever/handle above the resistance wheel. Two suggestions were to strap a kettlebell on or put a weight vest on it (about 25 to 40lbs). From Torque: “The resistance is the same as the M4. When your pushing or pulling the M4 only one brake is working.”
