There's something about engines that hits home for a man, and as someone who has never been super into cars, even I got shivers every time those engines rev.
Radiator Springs and its backstory is based on real-life history actually. Several little towns along Route 66 got bypassed when the interstate was built (in the 60s if I recall) and lost a lot of business. But many of the small businesses still stayed, somehow making it through, and a lot of them are still there to this day. And from everything I’ve heard, they are some very sweet and wholesome people just like the Radiator Springs crew. ❤
A lot of people like to crap on _Cars_ for not explaining it's world very well and being sub standard compared to other Pixar films at the time. I however, love it for it's atmosphere, storytelling, and how it handled McQueen's redemption arc. Also, Mater's not half bad in this one. _Cars 2_ on the otherhand...
The race doesn't ''pause'' when you're pit stopping. The race just goes on. But nowadays the pitstops only take a few seconds in some forms of racing, like Formula 1, and in other sports like Le mans a pitstop can take minutes because they have to change tyres, refuel and repair some damages. Essentially everyone has to pit at some point, so if you happen to lose some time when pitting, you will regain it when the other teams pit.
4:43 So happy to see the growth Lightning had from the first movie to the last. He had no friends before and then in Cars 3 he jokes around with other racers on and off the track. So wholesome :D

3:07 it’s whoever can get in and out of the pits the fastest, the race never stops unless there’s a major crash which is when the caution comes outs and the race is put on pause until the damage is figured out
One of the most amazing things about Cars, specifically the backstory of Radiator Springs, is that it's based on real life--Route 66 was once full of thriving towns and businesses, and when the interstate was put together, their traffic was diverted and they lost all their business. There's behind-the-scenes footage of the directors of this movie actually traveling along Route 66 and interviewing the people involved, so this movie feels that much more personal. 3:11 to answer your question, no they don’t stop. But teams often wait for a yellow flag (when cars must slow down to a “caution speed” like during a stage break or if someone crashes) to pit so they have a bit more time without losing too many positions. Putting under green does happen but only when absolutely necessary because it is riskier.
@ANGELINA, 3:08, to answer that question, the race comes to a quick pause when the yellow flag is waved in the air, and the drivers take advantage of this to go into the pit stops for fuel and tires. But some drivers arrive in the pits earlier than others so they get out earlier and reposition themselves behind the car called the pace car. So your pit crew have to be fast and focused to get you in a good position before the race restarts with the green flag waved and the pace car is off the track. That makes it possible to get a good place in the race.

I was a huge Cars fan back when I was a kid in 2008-2009. I had the diecasts from all three movies (I still have some hanging on my shelves), pajamas, books, and Disney Store toys. I even had a Cars birthday cake.
Been a while since you’ve done an animated movie reaction since _Soul_ just 2 months ago. Overall I love this film and while it has become Pixar’s biggest and most lucrative franchise in merchandising and their 2nd to have a franchise after _Toy Story_ it’s a very important and beautiful film and I loved Lightning McQueen’s journey and growth as a character and his relationship he has with the folks from Radiator Springs such as Mater, Doc Hudson and Sally. Hope you get to react to the next Cars films (Cars 2-3) and the other Pixar films that you have yet to react to such as _A Bug’s Life, The Incredibles 1-2, Brave, Monster’s University, Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Onward_ and _Lightyear_
Oklahoma has preserved the most amount of historic route 66 than any other state. Ive driven it...its super pretty, especially around sunrise and sunset.
The opening of this movie takes me right back to when I was 5 years old. I thought it was the most awesome thing ever. The music, the racecars, everything. 5-year-old me got the exact same feeling as 16-year-old me watching the final "Avengers assemble" in Endgame.
Radiator Springs isn't based on a particular town but several different places along Route 66. The Cadillac Range is based on Cadilla Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, which consists of a row of half-buried, nose down Cadillacs. The Coy Cone Hotel is based on The Wigwam Motels on Route 66, as well as The Cozy Dog Drive-In in Springfield, Illinois (Fillmore was gonna be named Waldmire but since Bob Waldmire is nowadays a vegan, he preferred to not having his name on a character that would end a Happy Meal toy). The Curiosity Shop is based on the Sandhills Curiosity Shop in Erick, Oklahoma. The waterfall outside the town is based on the Havasu Falls in Grand Canyon. Ornmament Valley is based on the Momument Valley, even though it's not near Route 66 but at the border of Arizona and Utah. Finally Ramone's Body Shop was heavily inspired by Tower Station and U-Dropp Inn in Shamrock, Texas. Just like in the movie, when the Iiterstate opened up, the towns along ROute 66 lost their regular visitors which meant many shops and resturants were put out of business.
“Matches the rest of the town” has to be the funniest shit I’ve heard 😂. Most people hate Lightning for that, but I just burst out laughing, like shit he did his job. I just lack sympathy cuz they technically had a deal
I can't remember when it was, but there was an archery contest where a similar thing happened in regards to sportmanship. They use a specialized tool for releasing arrows, but for one participant it locked up during his shot, so he lost his chance for one of the arrows. His competitor asked his team what had happened, and when it was his next arrow, he intentionally stepped away to not shoot that arrow, so to play on equal fields.
My favorite movie of all time along with Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron! This movie makes me laugh, cry and think non stop. It's my first love. Also McQueen's face gives me life at 6:50. I have seen this movie like 500+ times I'm not even kidding
This was my movie when I was a kid 😂 I honestly just love Pixar in general, but cars has a nostalgia favorite for me, same with Toy Story lol Also Rest in Peace Paul Newman 🙏🙏
I was addicted to watching this movie when I was a kid. I dont remember this but she said I also listened to the soundtrack ALOT and jammed along to it. Which is weird considering the past 2-3 years I've been so addicted to music from games and movies I've started to actually learn music this year.
This is my favorite movie of all time. Cars 2 isn’t nearly as good but it still underrated, it’s enjoyable. Cars 3 is really good too but I’d watch the alternate ending as well as the actual one
Funny thing is, after I became a semi driver I understood Mack trying to state federal DOT regulations to Lightning about resting. 😅 stupid I know, but knowing that made me chuckle.
10/10 Exquisite and fun. Visuals steal the show. Pixar again shows us their superior skills in 3D animation and to a lesser extent this time, the storytelling. There is so much attention to detail, that you are left gazing at the screen in awe. The 2 hours races by, and afterwards you are left with the satisfaction of having just seen something quite unique and surreal. It's a kids film of course, so there is little need to point out the predictable story elements - which exist in Cars more so than previous Pixar films such as The Incredibles. Cars is less daring, is safer in its approach. There are no surprising or wild deviations on the fairly straight road the story follows. But nevertheless, it's all very cool stuff, and the story is entertaining enough. Cars is a must see Pixar film - even if the visuals steal the show.
I loved cars as a child and still do! When the “life is a highway” scene would come on i’d always think of my dad driving down a highway to pick me up from daycare :)
I'll never NOT feel happy to see Angelina reacting to these classic Pixar movies, watching her laugh, smile, crack up, cringe, etc, especially when she's delighted over a wholesome character like Mater. Kachow! ⚡⚡⚡ Angelina, if you're reading this comment, I want you to know that I love you and your reaction channel and I'll always be happy to see you 😀😀😊😊
The story about the town before the interstate isn't just a story for the film, it's actual US history. The American West is filled with old towns that have "dried up" because they got bypassed by interstates. It's actually rather tragic. Route 66 is a famous example of this: since it went right down main street in many towns, the interstate was built around the towns, so people stopped going there. Now they're just empty shells decaying in the sun.
Personally, I relate to the small town dying kind of thing, because my parents are from a small town, and everyone is getting older there and passing away, and it makes me feel really sad
Fun Fact: Some of the characters were voiced by real racers. The King was voiced by Richard Petty. One of the best NASCAR racers of all time! 43 was his number and The King was based off one of the race cars Richard drove: a 1970 Plymouth Superbird!👍👍
4:30 Was this made for the movie? Oh you sweet summer child haha, now I feel old! This movie was amazing tho, definitely one of my favourite Pixar films, and truly made by some really diehard auto fans. The passion and attention to detail they put into it is honestly incredible. And if you're ever at Disneyland, visiting Radiator Springs at sunset is pure magic...
Respect to McQueen tho, when he lost to doc, even tho he was an asshole, he stuck to the bet and started fixing the road properly, and stayed until it was done.
Great reaction! My favorite moments in Cars are Our Town flashback, when McQueen finally learns to be selfless and helped out the Radiator Springs, King finish his last race, and kept his word for Mater. I would really recommend you check out the sequels to Cars as well as its shorts and series. If you want more car racing films, I definitely recommend Speed Racer (2007) and the Herbie film series. 🏎️🚘⚡️❤️💛
I think it should be noted that this movie was accused of ripping off another movie, and you could actually see the similarities: DOC HOLLYWOOD. Definitely should check it out. Also, the actor who voices Sheriff is Micheal Wallis, who was a historian and wrote the book Route 66: The Mother Road. He helped give insight to the people behind Cars on how the concept of the town should feel.
Cars and Cars 3 are simple movies, but there's a LOT of PASSION behind them. And a lot of people who dog on these movies are failing to see that passion and it just makes me sad honestly. You can see that passion for NASCAR and atmosphere and characters in every frame. Cars 3 is a WONDERFUL underdog story in a different light with Lightning being outclassed vs being a Rookie in the first. And it's great to see how McQueen could have been like, if he hadn't been redeemed by the end of Cars via Jackson Storm. I really think Cars 2 should've just stuck to Lightning, learning how to be a champion, and learning how to be one WITHOUT the help of Doc Hudson, who passed away off screen because his voice actor also passed. It could've been a rather engaging storyline to follow an unsure Lightning after seeing him be so confident as a Rookie. But for what they are, Cars and Cars 3 are certainly not the worst Pixar films as many claim them to be. They're not the cream of the crop, but they don't NEED to be; they're simply charming. And I like them for that.
So weird that a lot of people and especially critics don’t care about this movie. One of my favorite childhood movies and still one of my favorite Pixar movies
this movie is a love letter to racing there are so many cameos in this movie. imo the best is in the german version, the king is voiced by niki lauda who himself had a horrific accident at the 1976 german gp and suffered life threatening burns
In NASCAR (what the movie is based off of), when someone crashes or there is debris on the track. Race officials throw out the caution (yellow flag). At that point, the field is frozen. No passing is permitted. During the caution, you can pit to get fuel and tires. If you do pit, there’s no guarantee you’ll keep your spot from when the caution was issued. You could gain a position or lose one. When the track is clear of all debris and wrecks, the green flag will be waved and the race is restarted.
i love every single one of these movies, they are all so awesome and incredible in different ways and growing up i would usually hands down say 2 was my favourite now i'd say 1 and 2 are pretty even to me they are both so great and that doesnt mean 3 isnt great

I love it😭😭, he also doesn’t drive it so that he can keep it nice and so people can take pictures with Mater, it’s sooo freaking sweet🫶🏼 Also anytime me and mi familia go on trips, we always take the scenic routes so that way we, (1) we spend more time together (2) we don’t miss out on anything cool or beautiful
I love this franchise a lot
It actually means a lot to me
Being a motorsports head. Having a animation about cars and racing. I love it.
I can't tell u i LOVE these OG Pixar films. Gives me comfort & helps me feel like a kid again
One of pixar's greatest movies
Life is a Highway is a cover that Rascal Flatts made for this movie yes. The original version was recorded by Tom Cochrane back in 1991😀
Radiator Springs isn't based on a particular town but several different places along Route 66.
Brings back a lot of nostalgia, I was 4 when this came out loved putting it on a Friday after school with the lights off😂
I can't remember when it was, but there was an archery contest where a similar thing happened in regards to sportmanship. They use a specialized tool for releasing arrows, but for one participant it locked up during his shot, so he lost his chance for one of the arrows. His competitor asked his team what had happened, and when it was his next arrow, he intentionally stepped away to not shoot that arrow, so to play on equal fields.
I think it was in Spain, or the competitor was Spanish (an Indoor European event anyway).
My favorite movie of all time along with Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron! This movie makes me laugh, cry and think non stop. It's my first love. Also McQueen's face gives me life at 6:50.
I have seen this movie like 500+ times I'm not even kidding
The way I was OBSESSED with this movie when I was little 😂😂 probably why I love cars so much now lol
There’s actually a decent number of adult jokes in this movie that I never got as a kid 😂😂😂. Imagine my shock when I rewatched it later on
Fr how is this for kids😂
glad I didn’t know what they mean😂
This was my movie when I was a kid 😂 I honestly just love Pixar in general, but cars has a nostalgia favorite for me, same with Toy Story lol
Also Rest in Peace Paul Newman 🙏🙏
Ayyy you’ve finally reacted to this! 2006 was the year I was born, so thank you for reacting to so many films from that year!
Cars had one of the best character introductions of any animated film I've seen. Can I get a second on that?
Your reaction videos are precious, they are so fun to watch and are rewatchable. :D Blessings!
This town is like a lot of little towns along Route 66. As soon as the interstate 70 was built, a lot of those towns dried up.
I can always count on Ange being always adorable.
Kachow! ⚡⚡⚡ Angelina, if you're reading this comment, I want you to know that I love you and your reaction channel and I'll always be happy to see you 😀😀😊😊
Watching Mia and Tia flash their lights always makes me smile.
Doc: "If you're going hard ebough left, you find yourself turning right"
Ange's immediate response: "That's true!" like no questions asked
Everyone who's ever driven a car: "Should we tell her?"
And Doc is voiced by the late Paul Newman
3:57 It took me a while to figure that out. I do know if this was humans instead of Cars the rating would go from G to R in a heartbeat.
Ange you almost made tear up while you were watching this 🥺❤️ btw i was 9 when this movie came out ! Miss being a kid
Hi Angelina, I Absolutely Love n Adore Your Commentary. Incredible Movie Reaction, Keep Up The Incredible Work. Loved This Movie.
This is one of the best Pixar movies
When I was a kid i didn't get that line from mater and now it makes me laugh every time
Respect to McQueen tho, when he lost to doc, even tho he was an asshole, he stuck to the bet and started fixing the road properly, and stayed until it was done.
This is MY FAVOURITE FILM OF ALL TIME!
When Lightning takes the lead in the final race, you can actually see the King smiling. He’s proud of him. What a great guy
Cars was one of my favorite Pixar movies growing up and glad you enjoyed watching it!
4:25 her voice is beautiful! I cant even im too gay for this sjsjsndhdhdn
It gives me happy and sad memories because I watched it in a theater in 2006 when I was 7 or 8 with my late father, a great experience
Ramone is always going to be my favorite character.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Cant believe cars was released in 2006.
Needed this, my head is a bit big right now haha, love it Angelina ❤
Still here because my head is a bit big right now haha
Once again here because my head big wtf 😭😭😭
I love your reaction videos 🥰

You just earned a subscriber
i love every single one of these movies, they are all so awesome and incredible in different ways and growing up i would usually hands down say 2 was my favourite now i'd say 1 and 2 are pretty even to me they are both so great and that doesnt mean 3 isnt great
