Fun fact: So far, this is the only film from Illumination to be nominated for Best Animated Feature. I really like this one. Gru is as fun as ever, and Lucy and El Macho are both great.
When I was in high school (freshman year I think) my science teacher assigned us a project where we had to pick two cartoon characters who balanced each other out and compare them to elements on the periodic table. I chose Gru and Lucy because I love their dynamic and how his calm and gentle demeanor balances out her bubbly and hyper demeanor. I can’t remember which elements I chose tho. I do remember that I got an A and got a few giggles out of my teacher and classmates.
That opening was a 10/10. As for the movie, I still prefer the first one. The growth of the kids is my favorite part and seeing Gru as a good guy is fun too.
This film seems to totally forget that the Minions are already basically indestructible, even without the chemical. One of them literally survived the vacuum of space in the first film
Or did it? Maybe that's just what El Macho thought, he thought he would be invincible taking the serum but he was taken down by a lipstick taser and a fart gun.

My favorite part about this movie was the purple minions. They were so menacing, I wanted more scenes of them. (Also, does anyone else find it weird that Lucy is voiced by the same actress that played Ms Hattie in the first movie?)

I would say that this one was a brilliant sequel and also extra hilarious too 😅😊😊😊 like I totally love Gru being more Dad to the girls especially when he was upset at Margo for having a boy friend 😄 loved the story and the new characters and I’m happy that Gru found love in Lucy because I think they are perfect for each other ❤️❤️❤️ although I don’t like the purple Minions because there less cute like that but El Macho did have a great plan making them Evil for his benefit. Are used to watch this movie is a kid I don’t remember much of it but I still keep on seeing reactions to this movie and it kind of brings me back again also annyeonghassyo
When I saw this in the theater, the power went out around the end of the movie. The backup generators came on and they rewinded the movie from the end to the point in the movie when the power went out. Thus showing the rest of the movie to the whole theater and ending up ruining the whole show for me
DM2 is set a year later and it's hard to see in the movie itself but the girls have grown up a bit inbetween the movies. It's more noticable in the Mini-Movies Home Improvement and Traning Wheels, especially with Agnes. In the former she is slightly shorter than the regular-sized Minions and in the latter, she is slightly taller than the Minions, so it shows that they're not exactly the same as in DM1 even if they wear the same clothes (or similiar in bigger size, Margo wears a different t-shirt in all three films, the first one had The Lorax as it was teasing the upcoming movie with the same name, this one is based on Wangan-Kun from the Japanese series Bayside Shakedown, and in the third it's The Grinch for the then-upcoming Illumination adaption of How the Grinch Stole Christmas).
