Not really. He simply got older. Check the bootlegs from the concerts in Korea in 96. He was still awesome. With age, your voice changes. On a good day, he still kicks ass nowadays.
The lead singer (Michael aka Milli) wrote this as a testament to his love for his then fiance and soon after wife. there are songs you like. and love. then theres songs like this that go into your playlist . his voice is otherworldly. they are still playing today and are Mega Stars in South Korea. hide your glassware.

He had an acciìdent and had to take time off. Then Covid hit and several reasons that wèrent his fauĺt so that's why he never became wildly popuĺar. Hè can still sinĝ those high notes añd he's just now getting his popularity. He js by far the best sìnger i have ever heard! ❤
Covid had nothing to do with it. The band came out at the end of the hair metal age of the 1980's... (1990 actually) He was near fatally wounded on stage which put them on hiatus for like 2 years and thats when Grunge took off (Smells like teen spirit is 1991) - So this band sort of faded into obscurity with a solid fan following. Never hitting the levels that they should have. (Covid didnt hit for another ~30 years after that)
So you discovered Steel heart ! MJ was best vocalist of all time ! Steel heart would have been much bigger if they would have hit the scene just one or two years earlier ! No other vocalist can touch him.. He still sings great, lost some range but still sings better than 99.9 % of singers in their prime..
Geoff Tate of Queensryche, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, David Draiman of disturbed, Ronnie James Dio. These are just a few front men that blow this dude off the stage.
