just finished installing my adapter. to those doing it i found it way easier to mount the adapter board first with a couple treads and then fiddling with the bigger board till it fit in place, then tightening everything down
I wish there was a hard drive connector for the PS2 that could fit flush inside the Expansion Bay without sticking out of the back and ruining the body lines. I wonder if we could stuff an SSD or NVME internally with the Expansion Bay cover still intact?
You can solder to all those pins if you wanna extend the port and solder well. You might not need all pins if you miss out on Ethernet ports like the cheap knock off adapters have fake ports. This mod keeps that Ethernet working for transferring games all that fun stuff.
I tried swapping the GameStar sata board over and didn't recognize the drive. The GameStar out of the box worked. Since this attempt, now I'm getting a buzz through the speakers.
I want to buy another network adapter to install one of those sata boards again, I messed up with the first one I bought and stripped theat molex screw but still managed to get my hard drive to work
I just did this but now a yellow light is flashing in my hard drive bay and the games are taking many more time for me to restart my ps2 for them to be seen in open loader
You weren’t able to download any games to your 2tb hdd. And it doesn’t format in winhiip. I saw the -18 something on your video and I have that same issue.
@@aherrera8382Instead of Winhiip I recommend you to use HDLBatch Installer instead, it was developed by Matias Israelson who's an active app developer in the current PS2 mod scene and his program works flawlessly. I used Winhiip in the past and I'd get constant issues with not recognizing my HDD properly and such, but with HDLBatch Installer everything is easy.
I saw an Amazon reviewer who said it wasn't working, and updated their review saying not to reinstall the metal shielding, they said they took that off and now works fine every time, are you able to provide any insight into that, have you had a similar issue?
@@Crouching_Oni not sure if you ever fixed your issue, but I just got the same error. Take a light and shine it into the port that the network adapter plugs into on the back of the ps2. Make sure none of the gold pins are bent out of shape. I just ran into the same problem after months of using my gamestar adapter and lo and behold, I had damaged the port on the back. Not sure if this was the adapters fault or my own, but something to check.

thanks for this.
Is there an advantage to using the Sony brand one and converting it to SATA, Vs just buying a sata adapter?
Will they both function the same?
Both will function the same but the with the original you can connect your ps2 to internet and play online games.
From what I've heard, people have had issues with the non-original one.
@@jelkobg5944have you confirmed this works. I want to try this out
I bought a game star it show error 200: network adapter no detected . How can I fix that ?
Thank you for this !

Did you figure it out?
Winhiip is a terrible software, it causes corruption data, that is well known by many of us.

The link is not working. What was the name of the kit you got?

I never had any issues with the way I did it in the video.. works great .
