P.S I really like your show, there’s only one reviewer I trust and that is you sir. I’ve bought plenty of items based on your opinion and avoided MANY because of it as well. Thank you so much for staying true and giving such detail. I really appreciate it. I was surprised that you’re from my home state originally, GA! - With love from my family to yours.
Yes, but they don't say that. They say the lens has varying focus over its surface and you are supposed to find and look through the spot that has the right focus for you. "The technology designs each lens with a range of corrections from .5 to 2.5. Your eye automatically looks through the lens and finds the right spot where the correction is right for you, so you can focus and read clearly."
@@aszi77 That is certainly how they supposedly work - although the optician test showing a correction of +2.5 over the complete lens would mean either the maker is lying or it was a defective pair. Graduated focus lenses are nothing new - I have used them for decades. It does take a while to get the eyes/brain trained to automatically select the proper areas of the lenses for different distances. Some people can never manage to adjust, so they are not for everyone. And, unless the correction needed is about the same for both eyes, then you may only be able to get one eye to focus at a time. That does not happen with prescription graduated focus lenses, as the two lenses are ground to whatever correction range is necessary for binocular focus.

Why would be testing 2.5's if you use 1.5's? I'm confused
@Ranzy Campbell That is true for some glasses, but not these. As tested, these are 2.5 across the lens and the advertiser is simply guilty of false advertising. Moreover, their claim of "Flex Focus Optic science" is hogwash. There is no such "science".
As optometrists, we select the power for near vision glasses aka "reading glasses" based mainly on patient age . Other factors include (but not limited to) : distance vision power, cataract surgery, diabetes ... etc. To get an accurate prescription it is better to see an optometrist (especially if your insurance will cover the costs), but don't worry, your eye will not be damaged if you do't wear the correct prescription glasses. Although, you may feel discomfort or not being able to see with the glasses at your desired distance. Love your reviews. :)
Ok so you chose depends on age, what would you choose for a very young person who may just happen to have bad eyes, or say a person who is only 40. Rather than a person who is 60 or 80?
@@AKayfabe first, you have to understand that with normal people, starting from age 40, near vision start to degrade. Assuming your distance vision correction = exactly zero in both eyes (exact normal distance vision) & assuming you have normal natural lens inside your eye you can use near vision glasses for ages 40 to 44 (+1.00) ages 45 to 49 (+1.50) ages 50 to 54 (+2.00) ages 55 and above (+2.50)
@@xwzusv That is for a person, as you notice, with normal 20/20 distance vision. For a person that is near-sighted, those diopter adjustments can be radically different. For example, my distance vision used to be about 20/200, with my close vision 20/20 (normal reading distance perfectly clear). My close vision is now clear only at a distance of about 24 inches, so I need about a 1.5 diopter correction for reading.
I read quite a bit, and find that I'm more comfortable holding my book closer than 14". My arms would get tired at 14". I don't have a Fred Sanford drawer because I've worn glasses all my life and so, of course, bifocals. Nice video, James. Thanks.
What you needed to do is have people with various reading glasses strength and then have them try the One Power Readers to see if they would work for them. I’ve gone through various strengths of reading glasses over the years and depending on how far, or close, the reading material is they all seen to work. I like the thin optics readers for their portability and convenience.
I pulled out my old glasses drawer the other day to find some glasses for a young guy who was doing some work here. Amazing how many magnifications I had!
Of course Bailey has to be in all your videos because she is the mascot of your channel & we all love her too. Great review on the reading glasses as I was wondering when or if you were going to review them, as I have seen them on tv lately here. 👍🏻😀🐶
Watched a couple of your reviews. OK, I'm hooked. I clearly see why you have so many subscribers. Yep, I did that. You now have another. Thanks for the great vids. Oh, and the dollar store silver or gold. IMO.
I use prescription but my husband needs reading and was forever losing them so I got him thinoptics. Best glasses ever. He attached them to his phone as he always has his phone and you can't beat the lifetime warranty. Last year the nose guards came off and they sent him a new pair. They are totally worth it.
But the burning question is how does Bailey look in them? Before I started wearing glasses full time (more or less) my Fred Sanford variation was a pair on every lamp shade in the house, in each coat, in my purse & work bag, at my desk at work, & on a hook in the kitchen. For me the dollar store ones worked just as well as any others until I needed bifocals.
Thank you for making this video. Extremely helpful!! And your dog is awesome and so is your love for her! I just ordered adjustable readers. Problem is the company, (I discovered later) is in Hong Kong. I have no order number, no information, and yet my credit card has been charged. I usually know better but I was so happy the ad came over my phone because I wear contacts and NO readers do the trick for seeing clearly on the computer screen, etc. Live and learn! AGAIN!! Thank you. I’ve subscribed, liked, saved, and hit the notification bell. 🛎
Myself and spouse have been using the multi-focus readers for several years now. I order from Amazon with prime shipping. Sightline seems to be the best that I've tried so far.
I love the One Power Readers. They worked so well I bought 3 more pairs after I knew they worked. They look good and are well made too. Not cheaply made like Dial vision (One Power Readers are replacing Dial Vision for me).
They may not automatically adjust, but they did look pretty good and you were able to focus with them even though you usually use a 1.5 and those are a 2.5. They also don't cast any weird shadows and they are big enough for your face whereas some of the dollar store offerings look like kid size glasses. For 15 dollars that seems pretty good actually.
For me, using it on the desktop computer with the screen at arm's length is perfect. I can also move around in my small office cubicle without getting dizzy. But for reading pocketbooks and other small prints, it's back to my prescription glasses.
Take one divided by the power of the glasses to find the focal length. So, the +1.0 glasses will be in focus 1 meter from the glasses. The +2.5 will be in focus at 0.4m (40cm, 15.7in).
Im going to Target right now to see if they have those THIN OPTICS, especially a pack with 2, for $20... I hope they have a stronger strength than 2.5! Gonna find out... 😮
You should checkout a multi focus reader like Sightline. They are the best reading glasses I have tried. They stay in focus from 12 inches to a few feet. Sightline readers are awesome.
I ordered one power readers on 7/3/2020. I still have not received them l called and was told that they could not find me in the system. I notified customer service that l saw when it was deducted out of my account. I was told l would have to email a bank statement to them. Why do l have to email a statement it was not my fault that their customer service could not find my order.
I've not had reason until now to investigate any kind of correctives. I'm older now & once in a while I'm now in need of a little help. I just ordered the One Power for $8. Here's hoping.
Ha! 14 inches from the face to read. Never in my 50 years have I been able to read at that distance. About 4 inches the joys of being legally blind. Nice review. Stay Gold.
Buenos dias ..

This should (if they are aspheric lenses) remove that fuzzy bit so an entire page will look clear and you can read everything without having to move your eyes. Good morning .. Thank you very much for your advice, I am Leonardo Bermudez from Colombia, I would like to know which lens you recommend, which of all is the best option to see at any distance? I currently use a +275 positive lens, what is the best and most advanced option that you can recommend?
The description of the 'one power readers' sound like no-line bifocals. With the bifocals, you tilt your head up and down to change the effect. The top tends to focus further away, while the lower part is for closer vision. Having worn these for quite some time, and also having had normal bifocals I can attest that is indeed how they work. I can tell you though that it is very noticeable, and of course, mine are prescription and cost a LOT more than the ones you were testing.
Who else wanted to make screen shots of the glasses try-on at the end to make the most difficult version of Guess Who ever?! LOL Those faces were GOLD!
I have fully watched your views regarding reading glasses particularly One Power glasses, but still I am confused to buy. Do you really suggest to buy this auto focal glasses ? I am from India🇮🇳 and now 50 years old, associated to teaching profession. Please confirm me
You totally pulled off that Walter White James, you looked just like him! Also I've seen you wear that watch in multiple videos, it looks really nice but I can't tell what it is, are you a big watch guy? As one myself, I think a watch video would be interesting.
I'm so confused why the hell would anyone need multiple glasses? If your eyesight is let's say a negative 2 then wouldn't you buy lenses that are negative 2 and wear them all the time? I recently got eye surgery but I wore glasses for maybe 11 years and I didn't need 3 different types of glasses. All I needed were the ones that correspond with my eyesight, I would have clear vision from a far and nearby. If your vision is a negative 2 for example why would you buy a negative 1 lens just for reading when you can just use the correct ones.
After having dozens of "Dollar Store" reading glasses, I now only buy Foster Grant Multi-focus (3 different power) reading glasses. These are the Best!
I would say the dollar store glasses looked the best along with Thin optics. But I bought the thin optics and they are great. They came with a pendant type holder case that I wear around my neck so they are always with me all the time.
@@bostonrailfan2427 Yes generic, cheap functional maybe mot perfect, but as reading glasses pretty good and when they get damaged very cheap to replace ant fault them really. But the price of these glasses vary quite widely dependant on where you buy them. So the dollar store glasses have the advantage on price over convenience.
My opinion, the order in which 🤓😎 suits you best... 1. Dollar store gold 2. Dollar store silver 3. Thin optics 4. One Power readers 5. Dollar store 2.5 6. Dial Vision 7. Hazuki 8. Big Vision
Your eyes can adjust, but only if the power is to weak for what you need. And if your cornea is still flexible enough. If you need 2.50 and you have a 2.00 then there is a possibility. Wouldn't recommend buying a power of over 2.50. Because that means you just have a small power for distance as well. The stronger the glasses are the more you need to put it up close.
I have been expecting real eye centers to come out with these as the evolution of transition lenses. Being near sighted I don't have to worry, but my loved ones do. It IS annoying to look under my lenses to read, but it will be a cold day in hell before I admit old age and get bifocals haha. The dollar store pairs just slaughtered the others in looks btw, even thin optics look kinda goofy without arms...but they themselves look decent.

Thx for the video, I'm looking for a junker pair of readers I think I'll go the Costco route. Have a great day.
