It's taken me a long time to be able to articulate one of my problems with the game, but here it is: I wish the world of the game here made more sense. I get that there was some kind of cataclysm, (and zombies) but the world still defies most reasonable, living, logic. The quality of the interiors improve as you go deeper (which might make sense for dwarves, but unlikely to be the case for humans). I can't imagine that the pluming works, as there is no running water, only wells (and their origin is dubious), no sign of pipes, so where the toilet holes above goes is anyone's guess. And while I'm prepared to accept magical lighting, there's no apparent exhaust for cooking fires, heat, or fresh air, which at the very least means a build up of toxic gas, fatal to humans. And then there's the whole abysses in the floors of levels above other levels problem. It would make more sense if you fell through one level to the next (the tougher enemies would be incentive enough to avoid them where possible) or where there were only abysses at the edges of maps, but that'd not the case. And why the portal? It doesn't appear as you're moving to a substantially different location, the architecture, building material, and style is mostly the same. As it is, it's a collection of good ideas, excellent artwork and decent-enough tropes (sidestepping the gameplay entirely) but it's not an actual coherent and believable world. Hopefully this will all be addressed in Sui Generis.
Nice vid

watching you play makes me excited to play but I'm going to wait until like 1.1 at least if not 1.3 if I am patient enough
The question is if you're live long enough...
