Gorgeous garden and love the deck. Would not have thought of tiger wood. Three years out now? How is it holding out and where are you in the world wrt climate conditions?
Great question . So. Cal has semi arid climate so it should have done well but all that beautiful landscaping left no space around it or under to breathe. It has developed a bit of cupping .
What a beautiful deck and great attention to detail on it! The fascia board and plugged screw holes were top notch. Overall a very clean install. Like the clip system you guys chose as well. Most stuff I see around here is framed a faced with treated. This looked high end. I assume the tigerwood boards were not cheap. Overall very classy.
No but they did cup a little after about 5 years. Still looks good but they should have plenty of “breathing room” i.e. can’t really be as close to thee ground like I did in the video.
@@BobsTwoCarGarage Here is your second opinion - just 4 years too late. He is right it's pronounced ee pay. Ippy sounds so funny though so keep saying it.
Bob, where did you get your Tigerwood with the grooves pre cut? I'm looking to do the same thing and it looks like you've got a quality product. How's it holding up 8 months later?
Got it from: www.advantagelumber.com/tigerwood_decking.htm and good question about holding up. The decking is cupping I think because it can't breathe. I"m blaming the landscaper for shoveling dirt and plants right up to the support beams and joist. This manufacturer recommends 18" of clear space under the deck: blog.advantagelumber.com/2015/03/24/why-is-ventilation-important/ I would still recommend this product and their service was good.
Looks great man. I’m building a floating deck in my backyard and I do also decided to go with tiger wood from the same company advantage lumber
Good choice, but make sure it breathes well or it will warp / cup.
@@BobsTwoCarGarage OK thanks. How do I make it breathe well? Do you mean leaving space at the end of the planks?
@@markweston3345 it needs space underneath and good airflow.depends on your climate but if there’s too much moisture below, wood will cup.
Great vid, beautiful deck
TheSuperc63 thanks

thanks for the feedback and compliments...yes tiger wood is pretty expensive but half the price of epi wood which is really popular right now.
Bob, a lot of my tigerwood planks are slightly warped before installation. Did you have this issue? Waited 3 weeks after delivery before construction.

Great work my friend! Oddly, Ipe is pronounced ee-pay.
modernwize that IS odd. I’m gonna get a second opinion on that... no offense.
