My thanks to Kurgo for sending me free harnesses for the boys as well as the tethers. They really seemed to work great and I feel much better about my dogs and my family being safer in the car in the event of a sudden stop or a crash.

I too have a kurgo :) it might be a lot more inconvenient than just letting your dog jump in the car but I know if I was to have a crash my dog is dead otherwise. I don’t understand how every other owner doesn’t think about that
The carabiner has to hook up to the harness handle, not the D-ring for the leash. The D-ring of the harness is not designed for high impact forces and will break.
I think you are only suppose to use the metal buckle on the harness for a place for leashes. They say the stitched handle on the back is where you hook the carabiner. I also think that is a special accessory carabiner for active dogs that move around a lot. run the seat belt through the attached loop on the carabiner then buckle it to the car buckle. I thought your video was great. just wanted to supply info you can always check with Kurgo. also not sure if that swivel version is tested but it looks solid. I am debating surcharging one.
You are exactly right and I did get that feedback from Kurgo. Use the loop not the metal buckle. Thank you very much.
Magic is such a loving intelligent and patience dog.
In tears from laughing at putting the harness on Finn. We have a 9 month old dane, our first. Been there! Magic is a doll baby. Thank you for sharing!
Yep, so true, thats why if ur dog is small enough the best bet safety wise is to keep them restrained in a crate in the boot, that way they can't hurt themselves or anyone else. Also prevents them from distracting the driver by jumping around in the back, small dogs especially are at risk of getting caught up in your feet which is obviously a huge hazard for a driver.
Mike, thanks for the demonstration, I bought one of these 10 years ago, it came with no instructions, I couldn't figure it out, even went to pet smart where I bought it and they couldn't figure it out either, also some police details when I pulled over didn't know how. Kurgo should put this video included on the sale of this product, especially for large breeds
Oh Wow Dad Magic Is The Man Hunnie. Thanks To The Company For Sending The SAFETY Gear. TFS Dad 💋💋
Thanks Mitzi, yes, very generous of the company and looking forward to using them all the time.
Good job.
Gonna look into this product for my Dane. The only source is it's that my dog rides in the back of my suv so I'll have to see how that works. Thank you for sharing
Just bought the same restraint for our dog.
By the way, you attached the carabiner wrongly. It should hold the strap and not the metal leash hole like you did.
Hope you've made the correction by now.
Yes thanks
Happy ThursDane! The safety harness is very sturdy and well made. Magic is always so calm, cool, and collective, and he found his comfort spot in the
car.😁 Another great post for these special boys!
Thank you for this. I've been looking for something to keep my dogs safe in the car. I bought one that was just leash material and my dog chewed right through it.
If you buy from Kurgo please let them know how you found out about them.
Now you need to get the weather tech lay down mat for your vehicle
GREAT VIDEO!
THANKS!🐶😍🐶😘🐶🤗
That was a great video.
Very awesome! Thanks f sharing.💕 yeah Home Depot!😊
Thanks for doing this video, I’ve been looking for something large enough for a Dane. When we travel between houses (N Myrtle Beach SC, Mullins SC farm or Apex NC city house) they always travel in airlines crates. They usually ride free back & forth to the vets, park etc. I know most accidents happen within 5 miles of your home. 1X my parents got rear ended & my Dane Max got thrown into the front seat from the back (lg van. He wasn’t hurt but very well could have been!
Have a Great Dane

Yes, I never realized it either.
Hi! I am currently preparing for my future because I really really want to get a Great Dane and I’m just researching and looking for as much information as I can gather, your dogs look really great and I’m just wondering what diet do you feed them ? Is it kibble based or something else ? I have been researching a lot about raw meat diet have you ever tried it ? Great video btw 😁♥️
ESCLover :D I feed kibble but a high quality $54 for 34lbs bag. Raw has some supporters as well as risks. Kibble for 5 Danes has done well. Most important is your breeder
Looks like a good product. But Magic is too tall to sit in that car. Maybe he needs a van or SUV.
Hi Michael Coburn, thank you so much for making these very informative videos. I’m in the process of getting a service dog and was wondering what dog would you suggest for me
Marlena Davis sorry- totally not qualified to opine on that one.
Interesting. I have two Great Dane puppies currently (20 and 21 weeks old) and am trying to find a transportation method that will still allow for longer trips and everything I come up with doesn't have the safety that something like this would afford.
I saw a crash test, when dog was sitting straight. But is it really safe for dog, when he lays down?
I am the first one for like the video
I already have a sturdy harness is it necessary for this harness
great video! are you interested in testing our waterproof dog car seat cover, it will protect your car seatand help you keep your car seat clean.
That would be great! Email is in the description along w an address
@@MichaelCoburn Dear Sir, have you tested the dog seat cover on your car? If you have any issue, please let me know.
