*Great work!*👏 *I want to thank you for such a brilliant documentary! I have watched a few times since you posted it 5 days ago. This is put together so thoughtfully and tastefully! It is refreshing to watch and confirms so many of the lenses I have viewed Bob and his artistry through. This is something all Bob fans should watch and I have shared it extensively. I also hope younger generations see! I also hope that you will create some sequels to this!* 🙌
I had no idea who Sid Griffin was before watching this film. Now I'm a huge Sid Griffin fan. I could listen to this guy speak all day and not get bored.
Just a ballad of a thin man without tambourine, walk into the room like a rolling stone seekin' shelter from the storm, no pearls 'n' curls, only a pawn on his game.(from Jujuy,Argentina)
In 1985 (?) on a Saturday night/Sunday morning I was walking my dog at about 1AM along Gulf Blvd in Clearwater Beach, FL. Dylan had played in Tampa that night. Some guy in a ball cap was walking a German Sheppard and our dogs stopped to sniff each other. We started dog owner talking and I realized I was talking to Bob. We walked back towards the Clearwater Beach Hotel where he was staying and there were local TV sound trucks with all these lights flashing parked in front. I suggested we cut down to the beach and walk 10 minutes in the other direction to my house and he was welcome to stay awhile until the reporters left. He stayed over that night (yeah, we got high and talked about some mutual friends it turns out we had living up in Woodstock NY.) and Sunday morning my girlfriend made a big breakfast and we ate and drank Bloody Mary's out on my terrace. Around noon a limo swung by, picked him up and off he went to the airport. He emailed me a thank you the next evening from wherever he was. Nice guy. Totally unaffected. Of course that pales to the time I was walking to my hotel in Manhattan in a freezing rain/ice storm and a guy in a limo creeping along side as I walked rolled down the window and asked where I was going. St. Regis. He said "man you look like your freezin to death, get in back we're goin that way". The lock popped open and I got in back and thanked the passenger profusely for the ride. He smiled and asked where I was from and what I was doing in NYC. It was Muhammad Ali. We had dinner with his agent at the hotel. When I die and St. Peter at the Golden Gate asks if I'd like to meet God I'm gonna tell him I already met him. Both of him.
Just a quick geographical fact check , she said " people came here from all over the world, specially from Eastern Europe " Italy, Ireland, England are not in Eastern Europe. Dylan's family came from Odessa , then part of the Zar's Empire now Ukraine. Love you Robert Zimmerman 🤩 Thanks for all those lyrics and songs they inspired my youth in the 70s , thanks also to your friend and camarade Joan Baez . Best music w a message who move us deeply 🎶👋❤️🙌🎶
Wow, generous of you!! Merry Christmas!! If we all take the money we saved from going to the theatre, and give it to the Salvation Army or a gift for a disadvantaged kid - then all the better!!! Bob has plenty of $$, he probably wouldnt mind!!
Even Heisenberg memorize Goethe poems at night away from his physics readings, the poems helped him to define his own philosophy and connect the patterns.
it strikes me that changing the name was not because he wanted to hide his jewishness or even that he didn't think the name rolled off the tongue well...he had to create a new name because he was creating a new character. the vision wasn''t just about creating the music and the lyrics, it included creating the character behind them. He became bob dylan, a man with no particular past, someone who stepped off a freight train into new york city one day
Regarding sport ... There are many people who aren't in the least 'sporty oriented ' as in actually taking part in any sport themselves , but who love to watch it and get to have favourite sports men and women .
Bob Dylan is a musical genious . He's a force to be reckoned with . He was honest and true to himself . Take it or leave it ..I don't think he was out to become ' Mr Personality' I think he just wanted yo write lyrics and music .
@@Dawn-Songs I worked at a state hospital in NY (KPPC). Had a pt. being "chased by the holy ghost." Nurse said he liked chess. He would never play. One day I was sitting with board set up. He walked over and wanted to play. He beat me in 6 moves. And then went on to give me an oral presentation on Bobby Fisher. Unbelievable. So yeah, as you say, how many. Its a fine line.
Is Bob Dylan dead? All of these films and documentaries speak of him in the past tense. As far as Bob being a bohemian- think again. He’s a businessman
Forgive me noticing, but a lot of that came from a Chris Sykes interview with Dylan (while Dylan draws a portrait) back in bloody 1980. Surely some sort of credit is in ordrer, but no. Bad manners at the least, man.
subterreanean homesick blues is great, but it ain't the first hip hop. Talking blues was common over big band swing in the 30s with artists like Cab Calloway. Johnny Cash did it too.
The narrator tries to make explanatory comments about construction, however he fails miserably. If you do not understand something, it's best not to talk about it as your lack of knowledge exposes foolishness.
He sold the rights to the catalog in 2020 and the rights to the master recordings in 2022. I guess he didn’t wanna leave the burden to his children to deal with since he knows the business better than anybody.
To Bob, a true 'Everywhere' man! It has been an amazing journey with you. Ears to hear will hear.
*Great work!*👏

The entire interview he is drawing, a masterpiece!
Thinking about when he would paint it.
Great movie! Says it all about him. A legend in a world where there are barely any legends left.
Best Dylan documentary since Don't Look Back
certain people make me feel proud to be human, Bob Dylan is certainly one of those people

Don't need to wait 300 years , we're talking about Bob now! This is the age of consciousness. Bob started the stone to roll forward.
And we live…LIVE in his time🌺🔧🌹
Dylan was and probably still is, a sponge for culture. Music, visual arts, the written word, you name it.
spongebob dylan
Thank you Sid Griffin.. and all.. 🌺🎶 and Bob Dylan💥🌹🌺🎶❣️
Yes Dylan is the 1, He is responsible for alot of musical styles and songwriter wtc😊

some people are Great like that
Bob Dylan sent you an email in 1985 😂
Great story!
Dylan invented email?
@@Rob-pv4zc Maybe it was a fax? Or a postcard. Memories can fade, or blur.
Thank you, very interesting and informative. Glad I watched it as love social history. ❤🎉

that was great. fine ride. and the ending was perfect. still smiling
Just brilliant!
I love Bob’s clear voice when he did Hurricane.
Misguided song, but he was passionate in his singing.
@@chikkipop Misguided? One of his best.
@@RobertoTrama Not a great song, but more importantly, Carter was an awful character who did the crime.
@@chikkipop He may have committed the crime. He definitely did some time. Still one of my favorite Dylan songs.
Pretty cool documentary.

nobel prize ? well , o.k. , for what it's worth

If he didn't write he probably would have ended up drewling on some locked ward somewhere.
@allencollins6031 I've often wondered how many misunderstood genius have ended up like that .

Poor Dylan, under the microscope. Shut up andplay the music.
Hoorah!!! You win!!!! For real!

Once you get a manager, especially one as powerful as Grossman, you know your drive is for success and everything that comes with it.
Thlnk again, you know bob dylan, not
I’m sure you know best. But he’s a good businessman. Did I say that? Really good.
It would seem that way. Bod certainly has 'died' and been 'reborn' many times, but still they do speak as if he's passed....oh well! whatever
Awesome 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😊
That's not Catfish on the mound. It's Johny Podres, a lefty.

Bob Dylan is Charlie Chaplins doppelganger.. look close 😮
i rather have this docu then that strange movie recently appeared
Me too. I don’t care for young Timmy. Give me Zimmy anytime.

GOAT
Long live the D
Bro said Dylan’s the only one from Minnesota? ‘Prince enters the chat’
Doesn’t do Bob justice. Too erratic with meaningless b-roll and not enough Bob.
Bob D is one of the best plagiarist of all time; but aren't all musical geniuses? Bob is a songwriting god.
The narrator tries to make explanatory comments about construction, however he fails miserably. If you do not understand something, it's best not to talk about it as your lack of knowledge exposes foolishness.
Unimpressed by Sid G’s narration
Why he not drafted?
Bob "Dylan", Tom "Verlaine", Pete "Shelley".
Dylan's always been a legend he just wouldn't give him full range of articulation
GVB.
He just sold his library to Sony for a bunch. 🎉
Library of what exactly?
Its up to him isn’t it🌹🌺🎶🔧

Yes...He could of took the money and put it in Bitcoins. Beats present day royalties. $0.003 per stream.
,,, hoo woodruff taut ...
I shouldn't have been
Imo his 4 Christian albums were the best.
4?
@Anthony-hu3rj That I'm aware of.
Im a brother in Christ , but Desire is his best
Is Bob a Christian? Who would've thought
@benburndred2226 Look up "Slow Train Coming," "Saved" "Shot of Love." Those are 3 I can think of.
yes... he wants to be mysterious, so prosaic ... he was, as a person...prosaic...
