I replaced my battery without installing a code maintainer and yep, it idled rough and stalled at lights. I did what you said and it's running perfectly now. May you have beautiful and healthy children and live long, prosperous lives.
It has to relearn the idle trim. Cycle key on/off twice Apply park brake, start car, put in drive and wait. You may have to press your brake pedal also. It will relearn in a few minutes.
Three things to check. 1. The EVAP Carbon Canister between the Fuel tank and engine. I've had to leave the ignition on for a while before starting; especially after putting fuel into the tank. 2. Low coolant. Don't rely upon the reservoir level, check that the coolant is full at the engine. The computer has some mechanism for protecting the engine; very low idle. 3. Mass Air Flow sensor at the Intake filter. If it's going bad, it can't regulate the fuel and air mixture.
mine does that, it idles and shakes at like 500 rpm when its warmed up. I've cleaned the throttle body and it idled a little better but it came back eventually. It might just be the fuel injectors or the fuel pump because the car does misfire occasionally under hard acceleration..
I have the same problem the reason is the idle valve is dirty if you hit it with some thing rigid may be rpm will go up But my advice is to clean the idle control valve tell me whether it work or not
Yep SAME problem very low idle. Clean the throttle body like he says. Key is use a old sock and spray the sock i use a screw driver and the sock down to clean it. Runs perfect now. I was alittle nervouse thinking it was major. Thank you so much for your help. GO PHILA EAGLES!!!!!!!!
I don't know weather I should feel better, because I have the same exact issue; or pissed because this problem exist in most of these models. I'm getting a "Vacuum issue " reading on mine. Wish me luck, my inspection is due, and this crap started a week ago.. Smh..
Is comon problem on toyoras when you desconec battery computer memory star programming all system clean throttle body them drive 15 minutes wI'll be ok
I cleaned my throttle body after replacing my battery. Although it fixed the idle issues, my check engine light came on when I cranked the car. why would this happen, and could it be because the negative terminal was off during the cleaning??
Does anyone know what to say and what should be the engine speed at idle? I think this value should be variable on a warm and a cold engine. For me, after the start, the revs are 2200 rpm, after warming up while driving, it drops to 900 Rpm and so is it normal?
I also have 2002 Camry. sometimes when I stop for signals the engine is totally stop and I have to restart the car. I took it to Toyota Dealer and other mechanics as well but still no body figure out the problem. Please if you could help me
For me, I had to replace the entire exhaust and air components. Don;t forget that the idle air control valve is a big reason for idiling issues as wel las the MAF sensor and throttle boddy. al l can be cleaned. I had a non-running 2003 Camry XLE and got it running (rough but A-to-B status) for under $200. Of course, the more I did, the better it ran. Alternators can be tested but, usually it's not the problem. Don;t forget to check engine mounts. The engine will pull back at accelerating speeds and may cause hoses to come off or crack which leads to too much air i nthe system. Spent about 3 years (on and off) with that 2003. I'm driving it today....Don;t need to spend another $2,500 on a 2.4L, 4 Cylinder older car Lol.
@@chriss4365 The IAC for me was electronic but, I had an XLE at the time if that helps. A thorough cleaning was the biggest help and resetting the computer module, which is risky unless you know a trustworthy mechanic with one of those tap devices (similar to TPMS re-learn / resetting). Hope this helps a little bit. I have a 2011 Camry LE and it's been running great!
You should try to clean your throttle body and the AIC you should be fine use a good throttle body cleaner to do all that it's about an hour and a half
Sounds like an engine that has an oil flow problem. Ticking something awful. Lack of lubrication would make it stall. Or oil too thick. Or oil not changed on time. Or it got low and damaged the engine. The VVT controller is stuck, hammering away. That noise is obvious. Scantools, cleaning the TB, thats nothing to do with whats wrong. If the engine hasn't ceased by now put in some BG44 and change the oil with a 5w30 synthetic. Then drive. Should slowly come back
Having same issue with a ‘06 Corolla LE. Just did the spark plugs 3 months ago along with a new air filter and cleaned the mass air flow sensor and throttle body. Just replaced the intake manifold gasket and it now has a misfire in every bank 1-4 and the check engine light is back on and throwing the code P0171 bank 1 running too lean. HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!! Not even sure what to do next.....
Nathan Leniski when you replaced the intake manifold gasket, you should always replace the EGR valve. Gets carbon built up in it in most vehicles over 100 k miles. Under the intake, are air channels that also build up with carbon. This should also be cleaned.
Clean out the throttle body with a rag, brake cleaner, and scrape the walls gently with a Screwdriver. Drive it like 10 miles if it makes you feel better.

I topped off my tank once and I had to replace basically all the components in EVAP system

Did you ever get it figured out. I wonder about an idle air control valve or possibly need a throttle body cleaning
I have a 2002 Camry LE as well 138K miles and mine has the same problem. I think it's the MAF sensor that could use some cleaning
It sounds like your fuel injectors are dirty. Or needs to be replaced.
I don't know weather I should feel better, because I have the same exact issue; or pissed because this problem exist in most of these models. I'm getting a "Vacuum issue " reading on mine. Wish me luck, my inspection is due, and this crap started a week ago.. Smh..
Had this problem before. The idle control was just disconnected from the throttle body.
Disconnect the battery wait 5 minutes reconnect the battery positive terminal first then negative problem fixed
Wrong
Is comon problem on toyoras when you desconec battery computer memory star programming all system clean throttle body them drive 15 minutes wI'll be ok
Did you fix it and my car is doing the same
How did you fix it?
Spark plugs air filter or air throtle leak
I cleaned my throttle body after replacing my battery. Although it fixed the idle issues, my check engine light came on when I cranked the car. why would this happen, and could it be because the negative terminal was off during the cleaning??
Did you find the problem???
you have to drive it 6-10 miles for computer to read how much gas it needs to take in that is all
Draylen Thompson where did you find that information? I'm looking everywhere
We try to do that but it still won’t go.
And it's worked perfectly fine no shacking no vibrating
I just started having the same problem...again. The first time was a fouled throttle body. I hope it’s the same thing this time.
Nope it was the #2 plug
Ur battery is always ok if u got power. Acceleration charged the altenator. But loses power again soon.

Where is the Iac in this car? Cant find anything online and one site claims this car doesn't have one because the throttle is electronic.

@@PalvoChekov So the issue is either its dirty and needs cleaning or it needs a new throttle. This car im working on is also an xle.
It's the throttle body being all gunked up. I had the same issue with mine but currently im doing after market work to my engine.
clean your idle control sensor..and inside throttle body ..save yourself 500$ that shop trying to charge you
I had the same problem and I just cleaned it and it was clogged up big time fix the problem
I had the same issue this past week. Replace a bad 1-4 igniter coil and the upstream A/F sensor. Works fine now. Mine is a 98 Camry 2.2 L
You've either to clean or change the throttle body...
check on the map sensor hose, it may be rotten or swelling
how was the first issue fixed?
Does it still run today?
I had that same problem when I had disconnected the terminal when I was replacing my spark plugs
Kevin Lucas Camrys have that problem when you disconnect the battery. It dies randomly until the computer regains control
So how did you get the car to relearn
yup it took 5 minutes to clean the throttle body, and good as new
Virgil Villarreal. how? my 97 is having this issue...however it will not frank over now...won't even idle as before.
you
I also have an 02 camry with the same issue.Im about to try cleaning the throttle body
Virgil Villarreal where is throttle body at
Did it work?

Or you threw a rod or burned up a valve. I have rebuilt several 2.4L 2AZ-FE engines and yours sounds really bad.
idle sensor maybe, I am currently having the same problem
Hollowlujah was that the problem or what was the problem?
its timing ..?
When you disconect the battery the computer looses idle memory and has to relearn
jorge mora so how do you fix it ? Cause I’m having issues with my car right now.

What is the tb
+dany ordonez Throttle body
Does the same thing a carburetor does throttle body
turn off all accessories , and then turn ignition switch on and off twice, with out start up the engine.
It's a factory defect all camrys of this year have this problem.
Clean your throttle body.... And tune up. Or check your petrol filter...
That was a horrible motor Toyota had all sorts of problems with it. I hope you got rid of it..
check the air control valve.

06 Corolla hasn't an egr valve sir it is a vvti engine.
16 volts is way to much
Charge your battery hope it work
try throttle body cleaning.

Use the cruise control to set idle should be fine after
thats just stupid to say.
The coil
$125 is what the dealership will charge u
Check .map sensor. Acceleration sensor and tps sensor
the dealer ship has to reprogram it softer u unplug the battery
It only needs the idle valve cleaned the key when you turn it over re programs the car after a few turns
Idle up ac camry 2002
I have the same problem.
Battery 30%, you need replace battery
Try your tps
EFI FUSE under the hood i think its 20 amp. $1 fix :D
Altenator bro
Vacuum leak
throttle body
replace aic
Clean out the throttle body get the alternator checked and gas pump needs to be replaced
clean the throttel body thats whats causing it
id be more concerned withthat engine knocking
It was the battery replacement. Car needed more time to adjust to the reset
