Multiple engines don't need to be "in sync" as a lot of people think, they just take load off of each other. When I had a Honda prokart (kart with 2 engines) it's the same way, you can run on one, turn the other one while driving it'll just add power to the axle. you don't have to time stuff. Look up twin engine DAF Dakar truck, there's lots on that truck and it's twin engine. it has lots of technical details online !
