Building a Japanese style bench with old rotten wood

- These boards were in the ground receiving water and sun for years and the fact that there is wood left intact despite the conditions they were in tells me that there is good wood behind the dirt, in the end, I managed to get many pieces, but I had to add three of my own because some parts were either knots or rotten.
The furniture is Japanese style with tricky joinery, this is one of the best and most complex projects that I have done with 15 joints and 32 pieces, it took me approximately 100 hours of work.
The joints I made are mortise and tenon, tusk mortise and tenon, dovetail and finally a half-lap joint.

Good work with limited tools, thank you for sharing
This is really good! I enjoyed the focus on the work and the sound of your hand tools. Beautifully done!
Thank you very much!
Lovely finish...lot of hard..clever work.
Красиво сделано. Одно но - шататься будет при любом боковом касании.
What a fantastic build! You have way more patience than me to do all of that with hand tools. Great job! Subbed. 🇦🇺🐨
Thank you very much!
Acho muito legal esse tarabalho. Mas parece que as madeiras sai bem macias, bem facil de trabalhar com ferramentas manuais.
Que ver fazer isso com madeiras bem duras, como algumas daqui do Brasil.
Impressive work done mainly using hand tools. I would love to be as good!
The Master Craftsman, proved his high knowledge, long experience, unusual talent . True , the wood is rotten , but it has been treated by Mother Nature . That’s means, it’s strong , sturdy , it will live forever.
Hello, great video and serene as well. I’ve searched the description but can’t find plans for this. I’m eager to make one. Can you provide a link to download plans for this? Thanks
While I could extrapolate dimensions & methods I’d rather just build one, do you offer plans for this? Thank you
Thanks, I’m working on that, I’ll put them in the description as soon as I can.
is it common to have a stone topped workbench?
Great work. I admire your dedication to work with rotten wood.
Great job. Turned something old and weathered into beauty.
There are a lot things I like about this table but there are no things I dislike. Very well made with stuff other people throw away. Keep it up!
Thank you I really appreciate that!
UNA HERMOSURA... LO QUE MÁS ME GUSTÓ FUE EL USO DE HERRAMIENTAS MANUALES Y LOS DETALLES EN LA CONSTRUCCIÓN.
ME QUEDÉ COMO HIPNOTIZADA VIENDO.... ... GRACIAS.
A coat of oil to give more shine ... 😅 and better slip under ones butt. Looks great, and fine handcrafting .👍

Thank you appreciate it :)
Very nice work and delight to watch. Well done.!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this. The construction details, the fact that you left and even enhanced the texture on the bottim rails, and I'm a big fan of the repurposed marble. Great video. More like this. Subbed.
Thank you!
Wery GOOD MESTRE MACENEIRO 💥💥👏👏👏👍
VERY VERY NICE
Excellent video! I’m glad you didn’t reveal the end product until the end. It captured my imagination and I enjoyed the mystery. We’ll done!
Thank you for your comment! it really help me :)
Very nice carpentry work, well done. What is the species of this exotic wood ? 👌👍👍
Thank you! Appreciate it, I believe the wood species are mahogany and white cedar as a contrasting wood in the joinery.
Apologies for being dumb.
What do you call that spatula like saw?
Thanks in advance...😊
The main saw he is using is a "ryoba". These are increasingly popular and much easier to find in the west than they used to be.
