Thank you very much ! This video was just what I was looking for. It helped me on how I should properly use delay and reverb together. Thanks brother!😄
Thank you for this man, just what I needed! I just started using NAM, and followed what you did in the video. Just a question, why is using an fx track better than having the delay/reverb on one track? Cheers!
Glad it was helpful 🤘 By separating delay and reverb you avoid the delay repeats feeding into the reverb which can cause a muddy more washed out sound.. By separating you get more control and also a clearer sound. You can definitely put them in series, like you would on a real pedal board, but in the DAW you have this flexibility. Give both a try so you can hear it yourself. It's a good test 🤘
Great video for me. I have been using Reaper but very basic. I have never done the sends into other tracks like you showed, so I'll try that. I've played around with NAM just a bit but will focus on it more. Maybe a help to someone else, I was having issues with sound cutting out and discoverd I had background processes running my CPU usage up to 90% +. They are anti virus and auto backup. So Ill have to suspend them when running Reaper.
Awsome tutorial! ❤ However is it possible to skip the daw configuration and only use NAM and the audio interface together and get guitar sound out into monitors/headphones to play with a backing track from youtube for instance. or is it a must to use DAW and arm a track and drag an actual backing track inside reaper? Cheers
@@jake_with_the_BIG_snake yes! You can use NAM standalone to play along with RUclips. You can also use something like Elements as an alternative to a DAW. Check out my tutorial on Element and NAM: ruclips.net/video/PwhXVlEYUFo/видео.html
if i wanna add even more effects like most standard pedal types, is it a good idea to send a separate copy like you do to the reverb and delay to say, a fuzz ampsim pedal? and do so for the entire chain
Good question. I usually do sends like in this video for time based effects like delay and reverb after the amp. Overdrive, fuzz and things I would put before an amp, I just add them in the same track before the amp plugin.
Correct! But you can also have a NAM file that's full rig which includes the cabinet. So you wouldn't need an IR with those. Pay attention to the model you download to see if it's Full Rig vs Amp DI. Hope this helps 🤘

2:34 When I change "Audio System" to ASIO I then don't get any options under "ASIO Driver" other than ASIO4all v2 .. I cannot choose my Focusrite as it doesn't show up in the list? Any ideas?
When I setup reverb and delay in parallel, I lost delay somehow. Reverb is still working but no matter what I change in the delay controls, it doesn't alter the sound. It's as if it's turned off. Any ideas? It was working when it was in one track.
I would start by checking that the send from the guitar track to the delay fx track is there. Maybe the send is disabled? Delete the send recreate just in case. Also, make sure that the delay plugin has the mix control to 100% when in parallel. Let me know if this helps
I should have included more info on how to get those. The NAM files, which are the captures, can be downloaded from tonehunt.org for free. If you download a full rig capture (amp+cab) you don't need an IR and just load the NAM file on first slot. If you download just Amp DI captures, then you would need an IR (cabinet) on the 2nd slot or use a cab sim after NAM plugin. Tonehunt.org also host several IR to download for free. Go there, download a few and experiment 🤘
@@Psu89 an audio interface. In this video I was using the Focusrite Clarett+ 4pre, but there are so many at different price levels. You connect it via USB to your computer. Make sure it has a guitar input or hi-z input.
You can definitely use it without a cab impulse response, but you will get the full spectrum of the amp. A lot of high end nasty stuff. To combat that, you can use an EQ after NAM to filter some of it with a low pass filter and shape to the sound you like. In my opinion, I say this is more experimental, but many prefer to do it this way as an alternative to impulse responses with great results.
